Disney Wonder - Galveston to San Jaun - January 20, 2017

WOW! The group really livened up! You guys are keeping me busy today! :faint:
Here are a few things you may have missed.
  1. Harbor House meets - discussion on when and where. I have tried to make sure if you are signed up for the meet, that you are on the conversation list. MNgirl80, I was not able to add you to the group. If you don't have 10 posts, I can not message you. If you would like, I can try to keep you up to date with everything. Please just let me know. If you want to be part of the Harbor House meet, and you have not gotten a group message, let me know so that you can be included.
  2. Mixology - It looks like we are going to exceed the allowed 40. I have asked the shore side planner if we can split in to 2 groups, and if so about either at the same time or putting a second group on the 2nd sea day. Please let me know if you would be able to do the second sea day if that is approved. We will need 20 of our current participants to switch to the other time to be able to have that group (again if approved).
  3. Final call for FE's. Today is the last day to join the FE. If you know of anyone wanting to take part that has not already signed up, please let them know that today is the last day they will be able to do so.
I think that is it for know. If I have anything else pop up, I will let you know.

What is the harbor house meets?

We're late to the game and I realize FE groups have closed but if anyone drops out we're looking to join. We have 2 little kids (3 and 2yo), and this will be their first cruise, and our first Disney cruise.

We are thinking of excursions... ideas?

Cozumel - A lot of people do beach days at Cozumel. There's one that Disney offers and some others (we are in Cozumel on a Sunday, so some of the beach clubs are closed). We are not beach day people, so we're doing a private tour to see the San Gervasio Mayan ruins and maybe the Chocolate factory.

Grand Cayman - Lot's of snorkeling and diving here. Turtle farm is popular (although, my wife is turned off by the fact that it's a farm for turtle meat). Beach club is available here too.

Falmouth - From my reading, the Dunn's River Falls is the most popular excursion. We're going to visit the green grotto caves. Another beach day opportunity.

Adamki - Thanks for the information. How late are y'all arriving. We are having some contact individuals, that you can text when you get in to see if anyone is still hanging out.
I would give Dunn's River a 5 stars. We went there when our youngest was 3. He had some difficulty climbing the falls on his own, so the guide picked him up, put DS on his back, and piggy backed him all of the way up. We all had a great time, and my DS loved the personal attention!

Welcome to the group.

We had one other family join today, and they were wanting to join an FE also.
I have asked for other FEers to pitch in and adopt the cabin. The suggestion came back that I start a pixie dust list. I am placing you both on the pixie dust list. I also will start a late - late comers FE for the 2 of you (and any others that may come along).
I need you both to get your posts up to 10 (you have 9 more posts to go), so that I can message you with the FE spreadsheet info, and to get some information from you to share with those wanting to pixie dust you.
A good way to get your posts up is to start asking the group anything you are may want to know about the cruise.
We will see you in 2 weeks.

Does anyone have suggestions for restaurants in the Galveston area? Specifically something that will give us a "Texas taste" of the area. We love spicy food so any local spots would be awesome.

Disney Wonder - Galveston to San Juan sailing - January 20, 2017

I am excited to be taking another Disney cruise, and look forward to meeting new friends during our planning journey. If you are on this sailing, please leave a note and join in on the conversation, and think about joining in on some of the group fun being planned.

I am reserving the next few posts for the group roll call, the FE list, and planned group activities (like meets, cabin crawls, and mixology ). As the group grows, I will keep these posts up to date with the most current information.

Gaidos Seafood restaurant is my favorite open for over 100 yrs in Galveston but a cab from strand.

Thank you!! So Excited! 1st time Disney. 1st time Cruisers! We live in Texas. Are VERY familiar with Galveston and can help with questions?

What are great goodies to put in Fish Extenders? And is anyone else new to this?
Everyone in the late late group are first timers.
If you do a search for FE's, you can get a pretty good list to get your creativity going.
When I get the computer up tomorrow, I will type up a list to help. If you give me an idea of how crafty you are, I can probably even get you a few patterns.
I am sure you will get to 10 before I get going tomorrow, so I will get the message tomorrow as well.
Have a great night,
~Tink ~

Sheely2017, I hope you found some good ideas in your search. My list is going to be aimed toward things that would fit with in your limited prep time.
First Aid or Travel emergency kits (put in things like bandaids, sewing kit, energy / immune boost powder packs, etc)
Coasters (I have a few patterns if you are interested)
Anything specific to your locale (like key chains, magnets, cups, specialty food, etc.)
Candy
Pirate stuff for pirate night
Cup koozie /coffee cup sleeve (I can get you patterns for this as well)
Bows for the girls
Duct tape wallet
Picture frames for autographs
Picture matting (cardboard type boarder) for autographs
Autograph books
and maybe
Pillow cases

Hope this helps,
~Tink~
