Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Do we have any idea when this is going to open beyond Fall 2019? We're going at the end of August...

“I time the interval at about 9.8 seconds. Approximately 3,670 passengers per hour at that speed. Looks like about 5 m/s. Hopefully she can go even faster. D-Line stated max is 7 but that may only be possible on lifts with bigger spacing or faster terminals (i.e. chairlifts)”

I've probably only read about 10% of the posts on here, so this may have been discussed extensively already, so apologies in advance.

How is it going to work at each station as far as getting off/continuing on to the next stop? I'm assuming at Riviera it's just going to be a simple, get off for Riviera, stay on to continue on to other destinations. What about at CBR though? It would seem logical that if you start at Epcot/Riviera and are going to DHS (or vice versa), this would be a continuous line, so to speak. Whereas if you're going to Pop/AOA, you'd have to get off and go to a separate line. If everyone has to get off at CBR and change cars (which means potentially getting in the back of the line, which could be pretty long at the end of the night), regardless of destination, this would really add a lot of time to the trip.

Having AOA/Pop a separate line would also distinguish a bit the Value resorts on the line from the Deluxe (nothing against the Values - I see us more likely to stay at one of those than Riviera), but if you're paying all that money for Riviera, you don't want to potentially have an hour gondala ride back from DHS at the end of the night because of having to get in line again at CBR.

Nothing new but DD just snapped the test runs currently.

Grabbed a screen shot but not very good, so skipped posting it.

There's no way to check 6-10 people every 10-12 seconds..
It appears from watching the gondolas go through the station at DHS that multiple gondolas will be unloading/loading at the same time as the gondolas move slowly through the station. Guests will disembark on one side and new guests will load on the other side.

From the video in this BlockMickey.com post, the doors of each gondola are open for approx 25 seconds allowing guests to load the gondola in that amount of time before the doors close and it proceeds to launch! :D

Yes -this is how most gondola systems work. One leaves every 8 to 10 seconds, but they spend maybe 60-90 seconds in the station to give people lots of time to load and unload. They do this by keeping 8-10 in the station at a time. They are constantly moving, but extremely slowly. It's easier than stepping on an escalator.

People seem so worry about loading ignoring the fact that these are designed to carry skiers who are in big clunky boots, bulky clothes, and have to rack their skis on the outside of the gondola al lin those same 30-40 seconds. These are going to be a piece of cake.

I could be wrong but I thought what Spaceguy was saying is that if you put security at the entrance to the Skyliner they would have to search 6-10 people every 10-12 seconds or security would become the bottleneck keeping the Skyway from running at full capacity.

If people can get on rides like haunted mansion, peter pan, little mermaid, finding nemo, spaceship earth and the people mover they won't have issues with the skyliner.

You are forgetting that 90% of Disney guests leave their brains in the big yellow bucket at the Welcome to Walt Disney World signs.

Guests have enough trouble boarding a parked bus.

Humans are heard animals and Disney is an experienced sheepdog. I have no doubt they will be able to get people into a Gondola like Babe get's sheep into pens.

The rides have moving platforms at the same speed as the ride vehicles. The Skyliner won't.

I'm not saying there will be a problem, just pointing out it's apples to oranges, or at least tangerines to oranges.

2 of the newest lines of Mi Teleferico run at 6 m/s, using Omega IV's.

I hate to be a Disney (Debbie) downer but I don’t think the area to the back side is for pulling cabins off to load wheelchairs. Many years ago I worked at Skyway at WDW. On the Tomorrowland side is where the cabins were stored (in a warehouse). So this looks to me where extra cabins will go.
Will it be possible to load them and put them online??? Hopefully
