Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Honestly this needs to be on parents a lot more. It's great when we have a choice but often we do not. I would expect, however, Disney is highly aware of this and will ask people to stand to the side if you're waiting for a particular gondola. Sometimes we ask to sit in the front or back of a rollercoaster because it's more fun. We have no problem waiting in line for that spot. I would expect the point to be totally moot during most times of the day.

My dad used to enjoy singing "You Can't Always Get What You Want" at us.

We say to our kids "you get what you get and you don't get upset" (granted, they will still get upset but that saying usually reduces it)

As for wanting a specific gondola - I think a lot will depend on crowd level/time of day. If it is around park opening or close and they just need to get people through I don't think they will let people wait

If it's mid day and half the gondolas are running empty I think they will be more open to it

Totally agreed. I think, much like other "issues" it's totally overblown. Besides, why care what other people choose to do? The delay is minimal and it's not as if there is only one gondola in the station at a time. I get the sentiment for sure, but in the grand scheme of things, it's minimal.

Thanks for the video. I got right at 10 seconds again. There is going to be a little less time to board than I thought there would be. Right around 30 seconds to get on, and probably the same to get off. This shouldn't be an issue, but if they push the speed up to 4500 pph, that time will drop to 24 seconds. I am not sure if 24 seconds would be enough time with how many people seem completely clueless when boarding things.

It looks like there were two gondolas in the ADA lane, is that right?
There were 2, that is correct. I waited a bit, but those 2 never moved. I was hoping to see how they are integrated an whether was a pattern.

If the next group/s dont want the next gondola, we will be glad to move up and take it. Win win.

Kinda jittery but it looks like maybe some cabins on the parking rails on the north side now too? I think that would be the first time we’ve seen that.

Does anyone one know what department is going to be in charge of the Skyliner? Resorts? Buses? World Showcase Operations?

Not sure what you mean by this. Transportation is its own thing overall at WDW. They will have Skyliner specific cast which they have and are hiring right now. Buses, monorails, boats, and now Skyliner are all under the Disney Transportation umbrella.

Waiting one gondola sure ... but I am sure they want to avoid where there are like 20 families waiting for specific ones bogging down the entrance

Agreed. Letting people wait for specific gondolas with a character wrap they want will open things up to situations like these. Hopefully they are pretty strict with things.

I'll pass 20 if it helps.
