OK. I am going thru the existing threads and the others I have found to post the results.

WARNING: ALL BIDS ON PRICELINE ARE FINAL. Once you hit the buy my hotel room if they accept your bid you own it! So if you get the Holiday Inn, Ramada Inn, or any of the other 2.5 star hotels in that area you are stuck You can't call and ask for your money back.

WARNING TWO: If Disney and the other outlets (Expedia etc) are showing the All Stars sold out, I would assume you won't get them. For several days where people are bidding I noticed that either things were sold out or at least a few of the values were sold out.... In most cases hotels will not release inventory to PL if they have hopes of selling it at a higher rate...

Also, I do not expect that you will be able to add dining etc. to this deal. I have no idea on ME. Maybe someone will find that out.

Feel free to add
All of the below were 2.5* bids in the Disney area on Priceline. If we get anything else I will modify!

I know there are a few others....so feel free to post or PM me and I will add to the summary.

That's the problem with PL, some of the hotels in a category are more desirable than many of the hotels in the next category.

Many guests might prefer a Disney value resort to some of the 3* properties.

There is a big difference between staying at the Holiday Inn and the All Stars.

I'm surprised Disney didn't just release the rooms for AP, FL resident or CM discounted rates.

I wonder if Disney had a large group cancel at the last minute.

I thought about the group idea, but if you look at the range of dates it doesn't quite make sense.

My theory was that I was only booking for one night. And at $36 if I really hated the resort I would just "waste" the cash. I don't know if I would have been brave enough to hit that button for the week long stay!

Now if they ever released four stars or resorts....that would really be fun.

Even the slightest chance that it might be Nikki Bird would be enough to keep me from submitting the bid! We stayed there once and were given the worst room/location of any hotel we've ever been to. We were assigned a room in the section that faces the front parking lot/road...plus we had the room with the exercise equipment on the other side of our bathroom (everytime someone used the treadmill we would hear this thump, thump, thump as the belt went around). They were really nice about it and comp'd us one night but the experience was enough that we would never stay there again. I realize this is probably an isolated incident as I've read threads were people have really enjoyed their stay...to each his own, right?

I'd think Disney could just offer 50% discount, 100% prepay no changes rate. Disney could even assign the resort at the last minute. Just let the guests reserve a value, moderate or deluxe.

I don't see how using PL benefits Disney.

I know this isn't really happening but I wonder if PL could just book a few rooms with Disney, at rack rate, to add some excitement to the zone. The difference betwen the bid price (including PL fee) and rack rate for a few nights may be cheap promotion.

You know, I've been thinking about this and it may not be Disney that is offering the rooms...it might be another travel company (Expedia/Travelocity/Etc.) that had to contract for "x" amount of rooms and needs to move the inventory. To me that seems a lot more plausible then Disney offering it and getting AP holders upset that they aren't being offered the rooms at the reduced rate.

I'm not sure I do either. They've just gone through a period of adjustment, training people not to expect the ultra-deep discounts of 01 and beyond. This seems to put them back to square one, unless they believe that most people won't know about these rates, and so most people won't come to expect them.

For any other vacation destination, I might buy that, but it looks like all of DIS found out about this within about 30 seconds of the first posted win on biddingfortravel. I'll be surprised if it isn't mentioned in mouseplanet's WDW update on Monday.

Disney area. West Disney does not cover the actual property...

:thumbsup2

$36 or $39 for an All Star room is a great price but hey I think Disney's regular price for the All Star rooms are wonderful.

I can afford to stay at any of Disney's resorts.
I travel several times a year and often stay at 4 star resorts so Disney's Deluxe resorts and Mods are just another hotel/motel room to me.
The All Stars have the most Disneyish theming and that is where I want to be!

Disney's value and mod resorts are a total bargain. You get so many perks (Disney theming, Disney transportation, and EMH)
Any of Disney's resort guests (even those staying at a value or mod) are allowed to shop, dine, use the transportation or spa facilities at any of the Disney Resorts. (Of course pool hopping is not allowed.)

I just want to say congrats to all of you who have gotten a priceline deal on
an All Star room.

I hope you enjoy your stay at the All Stars as much I enjoy my stays.

Have fun at Disney!

I'd agree EXCEPT the PL regular booking engine doesn't offer Disney hotels and I'm not sure the competing services would give PL excess inventory.

Most of the reservations seem to be within 45 days. Could these be travel insurance claims? Disney trying to stick the insurance company with the cost of the rooms, or at least the cancellation penalty.

well add me to the Nikki list for 5/16!

What happens now? I have no plans to stay there, since I have already paid that's not an issue right? Do I have to do anything else?

Of course there is the other side. Disney is not getting phone calls etc trying to book the rooms so they don't have those expenses. If they thought the rooms were not going to sell at the current rates releasing them this way sells them at a Discount without making Disney do the work.

If Disney did what Lewis suggested once then for the next 2 years on a daily basis there would be 1000 phone calls going "do you have that last minute non-refundable discount program today" :rotfl2: (See the codes/ rates boards)

I also don't recommend the Nikki for your stay. I had a friend stay there about 6 months ago. She will never go back there. Even for $36 a night it isn't worth it.

don't even try for the Star Wars Weekend - this is booked solid....

plus some days after to recover.....

but wed/thurs - might be okay?

I'd only offer that kind of deal as web only deal. Other hotels offer pre-paid, non refundable rates as a web only deal.

I'm not sure I ever suggested doing this as a last minute deal but Disney could. I just thought offering a 50% discount in exchange for pre-payment no changes might work better than all the codes and all the guests changing their reservation.

Bumping. See note on warning about priceline bids. I STRONGLY recommend you NOT bid if getting something besides the All Stars will ruin your vacation. Once you bid you own it!

I tried for May 5th and got the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird. If I had gotten AS then I would've planned a little weekend trip, but now I'm eating the cost.

I wonder if...
it gets people that think on-site is too expensive to try it and gets them hooked on the "magic"? :wizard:

it gets people on the property, then they feel compelled to buy tickets, souvenirs, meals, etc?
