Disney Parks Moms Panel 2015

I *think* I found the FB group . . . just waiting for approval. Does it have "amazing adventures" in the title, like some of the past threads here?

I applied for WDW as well. Didn't it feel like you had to leave a lot of possibilities out of your response to meet the 189 limit? I know we could all give 500 word detailed itineraries for character hopping in the Magic Kingdom. :rotfl:

I submitted my application this week for the 2015 panel! I applied last year, but did not make it to round 2. It was my first year applying, so I wasn't too surprised that I didn't advance. I am hopeful to make it to the next round this year, but beyond that, no expectations! It's hard not to get excited about being part of the panel! As a former college program participant, I would love the opportunity to be part of the Disney family again!
Good luck to all who have applied this year!!

My question was about Disneyland - what's the significance of the number 147? ;) (Matterhorn). I wish I had answered that in a more "fun" way. I wrote a good paragraph but it wasn't so creative.

I'm dying to get in the FB group too. Can someone send me the link please? :)

I found the FB group. It's called "The Amazing Adventures of the MP2014 Search" The explanation on the name, was that they were unable to change after group was created last year. They said they are continuing group this year!

This is my second year applying, last year I didn't make it past R1 which made me sad but wasn't unexpected. I really liked the changes this year with the photo and sample MP question in R1.

I'm already anxious about the video though. Do many of the actual MP duties involve video? Or is the video just to kind of learn more about the candidates? I hate how I look and sound on video, so I know that if I'm lucky enough to make it to the next round that I'll be a wreck about that part of the process. Any tips?

The main hashtag being used on Twitter is #DisneyMP, and if you're not following @gary_jerry yet, he's been extremely helpful offering some insight and answering questions people have as it relates to the process and Mom's Panel in general.

I'll send you a DM with how to find the Facebook group.

There's a fb group? Not that I do much there but can a dad join?

189 feet is the height of Cinderella's Castle :)

That's the fact but not the significance...

When planing on the height of the castle, Walt wanted it a lot higher but the architects (or lawyers - don't remember) told him they would have to put a red beacon for 190' height or taller. So they settled for 189 instead.

And I knew it when I applied but could not remember it at the time (at 1:30am). When I told my DW the next morning she remind me of what it was and I felt like an idiot...

I sent PMs to those who asked...we are the Amazing Adventures group :). I am sorry if I missed anyone!

So happy to be in this waiting room with you all. Wishing the next few weeks fly by!

I applied for WDW this year. Here is what I had on my application: *How many "frozen fractals" do you think Queen Elsa had all around? (*There's really no wrong answer here. We just wanted an excuse to quote the lyrics. *Frozen fractals* is fun to say, and he good citizens of Arendelle love when their kingdom can be mentioned on a Disney Parks website.) 100 word limit *We'd like you to answer a sample question similar to those submitted to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Please craft this as if your answer was going to be posted on DisneyParksMomsPanel.com. Feel free to refer to questions and answers already on the site, but we'd like to see your own style and personality shine, along with a heaping helping of Pixie Dust. Proper grammar, punctuation and information that is easily understood is vital. Your answer needs to be 189 words or less. -Your Question: My family love meeting the Disney characters at the Magic Kingdom® Theme Park! I have a 10-year-old daughter who loves all the princesses, my 8-year-old son is all about Toy Story, and my husband and I grew up with the "classic" Disney characters. What advice would you have for us to meet the most characters and get the best pictures? 189 word limit *Also, this will not count for or against you (again, just for fun!), but do you know the Disney Parks significance of the number 189? 189 word limit *Disney Parks is asking guests to "Show Their Disney Side" -the side of their personalities that shines brightest on a Disney Parks vacation. Everyone has a Disney Side. It's the spirit that comes out to play when you're feeling the Disney magic! We'd like you to submit a photograph with you and your family showing your Disney Side. *In the past 12 months, how many times would you estimate you have visited Walt Disney World® Resort as a Guest? *When and how did you first learn about the Disney Parks Moms Panel?

Thank you so much! I kept seeing clues about the questions but didn't know what they were. So cool to see what R1 entailed!

Not many folks would pick up on the FAA requirement that all structures 200 feet and more have a lighting requirement. Thus I do not think think that not including that fact would diminish your response in the judges eyes. I know that fact because I am in the telecommunications industry, and consciously did not include it in my response. Curious as to how others approached this, because I am sensing sometimes inside knowledge can be your undoing.

When answering that question, I actually had the lighting beacon/FAA requirement fact in my answer and then took it out. It seemed a little "over-done", if that makes sense. I guess I won't ever know if I made the correct decision- unless I make it to round 2!:confused3

For DLR we had to decider 147. For both the Frozen question and the 147 I answered in one sentence. They said they were just for fun and didn't count so I didn't focus on them that much.

For those who have made it past first round, can you tell me how important the just for fun questions are? Being my first time, I didn't realize I should put more than a simple one sentence answer and wonder how much it matters. Thanks for any info you can share.

Thanks to all for the information about the significance of 189. To me, 189 is the number of pounds I'll weigh after my 10 day WDW trip in October! Epcot's Food & Wine Festival and MNSSHP candy stations - oh no! My first time for both. I can't wait.popcorn::

This is the first year there have been "just for fun" essay questions.

Last year there was a fun one to choose between whosits and whatis galore vs gadgets and gizmos aplenty, but there was not writing involved. No idea what they are doing with those questions :confused3
