Disney Parks Moms Panel 2015

After Gary's tweets about "just for fun" being "just for fun" yesterday, now I feel like I blew it on the "just for fun" questions by not being fun enough. Oh well!

I interpreted his tweets to mean: settle down, people!

LOL! I think we are stressing over the wrong questions!!!!

I sent PMs to those who asked...we are the Amazing Adventures group :). I am sorry if I missed anyone! So happy to be in this waiting room with you all. Wishing the next few weeks fly by!

Thank you for the PM! Since I am new, I don't have enough posts to private message but I wanted to make sure you knew I got it. Thank you so much!

I just have Tom Petty running through my head on repeat! This waiting is tough. I don't envy the review committee--they've got a tough job ahead of them!

And on a side note, Tico, if you don't make it through this year I will be SHOCKED!

Absolutely! Gary has repeatedly stressed that the "just for fun" questions are exactly that. In other words, those won't be counted for or against you. They're idea-starters, conversation fodder and fun reading material for the judges. Hakuna Matata, y'all!!! :)

The FastPass+ apps actually did include the first "just for fun" Q - the "frozen fractals" one. Like most of us, I have no idea how many of those darn things Elsa had all around. So you know what I did? I had fun with it! Used alliterative "f" words (no, not THAT "f" word!) through the whole answer. And since there are only so many (clean) "f" words, my answer was probably only about 50-75 words long.

For those who have made it past first round, can you tell me how important the just for fun questions are? Being my first time, I didn't realize I should put more than a simple one sentence answer and wonder how much it matters. Thanks for any info you can share.

This is just my personal opinion. The just for fun questions won't count against you, but I think they can work for you.

I would take any chance I have to set myself apart from the thousands of other applicants. That includes having a fun answer to the just for fun questions.

Based on Gary's question and answer session on twitter last night, it looks like there are at least 4 rounds this year and they are looking for 16-19 panelists. The odds don't look good for this newbie! :) Even if I don't make it to round 2, I am definitely enjoying being part of the process!

Hi all!!! Wow I've missed a lot here!! I'm more active on the FB group page but definitely want to stay up to date on everything going on here as well. I'm really excited to see what the whole "rice" thing means. I'm also looking forward to seeing if they add any other methods of submitting info this year... Like a Skype call maybe??! This is going to be fun!!

I agree 100%! I had fun with the fractals and was sentimental with 189. I figured if they gave us that many words to use, why not take advantage. The only downside, opens me up for more critique on writing skills.

I really enjoyed the MP question. It was a fun challenge trying to include all that I wanted to convey in a really concise way. And I took the advice of others to pretend that I was chatting with a friend. It really worked!

What I love most is the community of MP applicants and panelist. It is such a fun and supportive group.

I think I finally found the facebook group and made my request. Hanging out in the waiting room is making the wait so much more tolerable!! :)

Whositsandwhatsits! I am touched if it is me that you think will make it through this year! Or is there a Tico here on the boards?? I am Tico's fan.

Tico and Teco are my favorite Disney characters. That is Chip and Dale in English. I just love those adorable chipmunks. I am Karol on twitter, Facebook, and in real life.

You are another that should be making it through, along with.... I am afraid to start naming because I am sure I would leave someone out.

We have been following each other for so long. Won't it be nice next year when we are cheering on everyone else on as new panelists! :rotfl:

The Disboards is (are?) probably my favorite place to follow, but Facebook is nice because the pictures let me see what people really look like. Twitter is fun because of Gary and gang giving out clues. I remember when it was Laura and JohnnyGoGo.

Wow it has been a long time!

Good luck to everyone -- us who have been applying for just a few years and the newbies. I don't know how the panel can pick!!

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Hey gang! Just wanted to pop on an wish everyone good luck this year. Sept is super busy over here with CC and Rocket football and cheer--so I am happy for the distractions that will make this month fly by. Hoping to see many DIS folks on the panel this year. Pixie dust to you all :)

Hello, everyone! My name is in the hat as well, and I've asked to join the FB group. I've applied many times in the past and have never made it to round 2. Like everyone else, I've been second guessing my "just for fun" answers. I actually like my sample question answer. For those who have made it to the video round, how does that work? Do they give you a question they want you to answer on video or do they ask for videos from prior vacations? For those who have made it past the video round in the past, any tips? I realize I'm being optimistic by even thinking about the next round. Also, does anyone have any guesses as to how many apply, how many make it to round 2, how many make it to round 3, etc.? This year has been so much fun already, and Gary is such a hoot! I think he's a genius!

You are given a prompt for the video. In previous years it has been favorite memory and practically perfect Disney day. You only have 60 seconds! Who knows what this year will bring?!? Gary has hinted at more video.
As for number of applicants, that is a secret. There are several (ten?) thousand for round one, 300ish for round two and 35ish for round three. No one knows for sure, just an estimate based off of our unofficial data collecting! Again, this year will be different. Gary said there will be at least 4 rounds!

Round 3 had at least 46 people last year. Seventeen made it on the panel and 29 people have reported having a FP for this year.
