Before I got to the Disney sea part I had a glimmer of hope they were coming back to the domestic parks… they would be good IP for Epcot just saying
I remember when Duffy used to have a meet and greet at Epcot. At the time I was like "who is that?" LOL

I do wonder how popular Duffy and his friends are outside of the Asian parks though. I unknowingly went to Disneysea on the first day of their summer event (this was before Covid) and the meet and greet for them was a 3 hour wait.

RUMOR:

Annual Passholders Will Have to Use My Disney Experience to Prove They Are Eligible for Dining Discounts

Disney is adding new requirements for guests to prove they are Annual Passholders in order to receive dining discounts.

One of the perks offered for Annual Passholders is a dining discount (available at specific locations). Soon, dining guests will be required to show proof of their pass validity via the My Disney Experience app. This new process may end up being necessary for Passholder discounts on merchandise as well.

Our sources said the reason for the change is that expiration dates are no longer printed on the physical Annual Passholder cards.
We don't get physical cards with our Magic Keys, so we always have to bring our ticket up to be scanned. They use to ask to see ID as well, but they stopped that recently for some reason. It can be a pain at some stores since you might not get any service by the registers. I've had to leave the store to bring up my ticket and then go back in. But, since we're all use to need to pull up our tickets in the app, it doesn't really hold anything up. So, maybe once Passholders get use to this process, it will go smoother.

But the Disney Visa cards give 10% off at many places. If you're a Annual Passholder or a DVC member, do they give the same 10% off at places, making the Disney Visa cards irrelevant? Or do you get a Annual Passholder discount first, then the Visa card gives ANOTHER 10% off?

Because, for example, an Apple credit card would give an ADDITIONAL 2% off on top of the Annual Passholder/DVC 10% off.

Nope, you can't double dip discounts.

And the AP discount for merchandise is 20 percent for most merchandise.

But you CAN 'double-dip' by using a credit card that gives cash back, like an Apple CC, Discover CC, etc.

So the Disney Visa card works differently with discounts than a Discover or Apple Card? Those allow double dipping, but it's only 1-2% more.

If you already have an Annual Pass/DVC, is it worth it to get a Disney Visa? Or would a card like Discover or Apple be better?

You get 2% back in Disney Rewards when you pay at “most Disney locations” with the Disney Premier Visa, and you should be able to get an AP or DVC discount as well, since the 2% isn’t a discount.

My favorite way to double dip is to charge everything possible to my room, then pay the room charges with gift cards I bought at a 5% discount. I can still use my AP discount at time of purchase.

Plexiglass Removed From All Attraction Queues at Walt Disney World

The final attraction queue to have the plexiglass removed was The Seas with Nemo & Friends at EPCOT.

Disney had been gradually removing the plexiglass from queues and other areas in the theme parks for the past few months, but has accelerated efforts recently to remove the last remaining installations at attractions such as “it’s a small world”, Frozen Ever After, Expedition Everest, and finally The Seas with Nemo & Friends.

Pretty much the only reason I have a Disney Visa is for the couple of perks in the parks (usually photo ops), and the occasional shopDisney discount. Otherwise I never use it, my main credit card has much more generous perks.

The pace at which they are rolling out things that were typical is getting ridiculous. Also highlighting these as things we should be appreciative or excited about is ridiculous. I waited until summer (end of June) to book because I thought it was not possible it would be this drawn out. Yet here we are celebrating the return of 4 performers as something we should be thankful about.

The only reason I have a Disney Visa is for room discounts, occasional coupons, and exclusive things like meet and greets. The Disney Dream Reward earning structure isn't the best unless you take advantage of some of the recent promotions Chase has been offering, but they are usually capped at $75 per quarter. You can also float a Disney vacation or DVC purchase with 0% interest for 6 months, but I personally pay everything off with discounted Disney gift cards purchased on other credit cards.

If you don't want to open a new credit card you can also get a Disney Visa debit card with an eligible Chase checking account. I personally have that as well and it offers all the same benefits of the credit card, just different card designs. Chase even offers new checking account bonuses https://disneydebit.com/vacation-perks/

Bummer! I had already talked my non-show going family into this because the Tumble Monkeys would be back, but we're only there until the 15th....typical!
We're going to miss it too! I was hopeful.
That and the new Nemo show I'm thinking we might miss? (Or did they announce a date for that and I forgot? :) )

UPDATE:

Walt Disney World Annual Passholders Will Have to Show My Disney Experience for Dining and Merchandise Discounts

We have now confirmed the rumor that Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will soon need to show their pass in the My Disney Experience app to prove eligibility for both dining and merchandise discounts.

Currently, Annual Passholders can show their photo ID and physical pass. However, Annual Pass cards no longer have their expiration date printed on the back. As a result, Disney is updating the policy to require guests prove their eligibility exclusively with My Disney Experience instead.

Passholders can find their pass in the app by clicking the three-lined “hamburger” menu, then “Tickets and Passes.” You may need to scroll past the tickets of friends and family who are linked to you to find your own pass. It will show your name, the pass type (such as a Sorcerer Pass), and the expiration date.
