Construction Continues on TRON Lightcycle Run Walkways and Walt Disney World Railroad Tunnel at Magic Kingdom

The Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom has been closed for over three years while construction continues on TRON Lightcycle / Run, a new coaster in Tomorrowland. The railroad will go under the coaster thanks to a new tunnel.

Land Clearing Underway for Mysterious, Large-Scale Project at Blizzard Beach Water Park

The land clearing, which you can see in our photos below, is to make way for the installation of a tower crane for an unannounced project. The permit is concerned with creating a laydown area and a new access road. The project’s scope beyond this type of site prep work is unknown. It’s possible that a new attraction could be on the way, or that Disney needs the crane to replace existing slides. It looks like there could be up to two additional support cranes or two additional tower crane locations.

Here’s a look at the land clearing.

Updates to Security Screening Procedures at Disney World Theme Parks Could Lead to Longer Lines

Within the past few weeks, Disney has been making operational adjustments to the security screening procedure at its theme park checkpoints. Leadership changes within the department have resulted in new procedures.

While we will not detail the changes, the managers that we spoke with have indicated that there could be an increase in wait times as a result. Guests visiting the theme parks are encouraged to follow the verbal directions of the security Cast Members at the checkpoints who are trained in the newer procedures and will be able to offer the best advice when it comes to balancing safety and efficiency.

While it was not uncommon to see long lines during peak crowds, this change will affect all times of the year. Essentially, we’re told to pack your patience as Cast Members work through the changes and Disney makes adjustments.

Currently, Annual Passholders can show their photo ID and physical pass. However, Annual Pass cards no longer have their expiration date printed on the back.
I've had an AP for many, many years. I can't recall how long ago this change happened but its not recent. Kind of silly to use this for an excuse now.

I saw reports of hour long waits at security yesterday!

I got excited for a sec and then read that it will only be available for a week.... what's the point then? I dislike limited releases like this.

The general manager credited for the "Golden Dragon" churro should be fired. Out of a cannon. Into the sun.

UPDATE:

Walt Disney World Annual Passholders Will Have to Show My Disney Experience for Dining and Merchandise Discounts

We have now confirmed the rumor that Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will soon need to show their pass in the My Disney Experience app to prove eligibility for both dining and merchandise discounts.

Currently, Annual Passholders can show their photo ID and physical pass. However, Annual Pass cards no longer have their expiration date printed on the back. As a result, Disney is updating the policy to require guests prove their eligibility exclusively with My Disney Experience instead.

Passholders can find their pass in the app by clicking the three-lined “hamburger” menu, then “Tickets and Passes.” You may need to scroll past the tickets of friends and family who are linked to you to find your own pass. It will show your name, the pass type (such as a Sorcerer Pass), and the expiration date.
I had to do this when I was there a couple weeks ago for merch discounts. Between an older phone and clunky wi-fi it took about ten minutes to bring it up on screen. It was not convenient at all. The phone I will be upgrading later this year, but that won’t fix Disney’s wi-fi.

They really need to be able to scan the pass via AP card, MB, or mobile wallet to confirm pass eligibility, and compare that to your ID to confirm you are the pass holder. Fast, simple, and not an extra burden for people who do not have a data plan and rely on the wi-fi (which a lot of international guests do). Of course, this is Disney’s IT we are talking about . . .

This wording is interesting. Are they just not sharing the why because they don't want to give up their sources? Not trying to discuss any banned topics but this was just super confusing lol

I assume they don't want to share the details of the security procedure to prevent people from thinking about ways to bypass them.

It's the same reason you aren't allowed to film the screening procedure at Disney, Universal or airports and the like.
