Is it worth it to do the room decorating option provided by Disney on the disneyflorist.com?

Is it possible to sneak some homemade magic in my bag and get into the room ahead of the family?

I have not used any of the Disney service so I can not comment on those but
I did some homemade decorations...not much but I made some things to hang in the window with out my hubby knowing. We were celebrating 10 years of marriage. It was fun for my DD and i to have our little secret from daddy.

I really like some of the decorating options they offer, but there's not really any way I can justify the prices! I figure that I'd rather bring stuff from home and spend that money on some extra drinks or a nice dinner out, but that's just me. There are so many things you could do homemade...and it might be fun to have something to get you even more excited.

We stayed off property over the summer, so the room decorating was all on me. It was the first trip for the girls. I woke up super early on park day and decorated, and had a letter from Mickey telling them that they were going to WDW that day. It was wonderful, can cost me maybe $50 (the decor included autograph books, ear hats, sunglasses, and first trip t-shirts among other things).

I can't imagine spending $400 for them to decorate a room, that's a couple extra park days for a family of four, or a couple character meals.

I bet with a little creativity and $50 you could make it look better than they could anyway. What if your husband and the kids head straight to the pool while you "check in" and go set up the room. Afterwards, throw on your suit and go swim with the family. It will be a total surprise when everyone goes to the room together and sees the decorations.

Great idea - Thanks! I'm a pinterest addict, I know I can come up with something - I just wasn't sure how to pull off the surprise part :)

The options are pretty amazing, but I could not justify the prices either. What I did was buy some Mickey Halloween pjs for my boys (before we left for Disney), a trick or treat bag (the light up one they have in the stores there) and some light up Mickey Mouse pumpkin necklaces and put them on the bed when the boys went ahead of me. When we got back they thought Mickey dropped them off for them and were so psyched.

Apparently it was so good that my mom (who I had told before and had a connecting room) believed it and told my sister, who then was at the concierge the next day asking how she could get this service....they were confused. :rotfl:

I plan on doing that next year with Christmas pjs and if they have some light up Christmas thing and some other little goodies.

Oh, and that was the one day we put up the no housekeeping sign.
