Disney Gift Card Deals

We have stop & shop here, I believe they are owned by the same company and we can't buy visa/MasterCard or amex gift cards with a credit card. This makes it not worth it for me. Don't take my word for it, the policy at giant may be different than stop & shop.
Giant and Giant Eagle are actually 2 totally different companies with similar names

I often use prepaid gift cards to buy load able cards. I just tell the clerk how much is on was have card before I swipe. I loaded 2 southwest gift cards at Kroger that way. But I didn't use a pin...

Probably a stupid question, but I just want to be sure we'll be good.

I'm going to buy a bunch of $50 Gift Cards from Best Buy, because I can buy them online using my PayPal credit (which I need to do), and them pick them up in store. They don't offer any denomination larger that $50, at least on line.

How difficult is it to use partial gift cards? So say one of my daughters buys something for $30. She has one card with $10 left on it, and another $50 new card. Can she give the $10 card to the CM, and then use the other card for the balance?

Like I said, probably a stupid question, but I remember years ago having issues using a gift card with a partial balance, I couldn't use multiple gift cards for some reason. Hopefully I explained it correctly.

Also, if someone knows where I can buy larger denomination Gift Cards using PayPal Credit, I'd love to hear about it!

Thanks!!!

You can combine Disney GC online. Up to $1000 per GC.

There's no problem using partial cards at all. The receipt will show what's left & next time you give them the gc, they'll swipe it & the balance on the card will come off the amount due. Very easy. You can combine your gc on disneygiftcard.com if you want also. It's easy & you can put up to $1000 on a gc. They do not let you move partial balances though.

Oh, so if I purchase say 4 new $50 Disney Gift Cards from Best Buy, once I get them I can go online and combine them all onto one card for $200? That's cool!

Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, why not transfer your PayPal balance to a checking account, then use a credit card that you can earn a % back, paying off the balance when the bill comes? You could save another 2-11%, depending on what cards you have, and if you use an online portal to purchase.

It's not a PayPal balance, it's PayPal Credit. I can't transfer that money to myself. I can pay other people with it, but it's technically a credit account, not a debit balance in the account.

Details? Amount? System rejected? Or Employee?

Bought ecard off raise
$25 (I only bought $25 to see if I had any issues)
System rejected

In fact, the amount came off my ecard and the Disney gift card would not go through. They had to put my $25 back on a Kmart merchandise card. Should I try it again.

@DIS_MERI is our resident Kmart expert but I think ecards always require a manager override (which is less likely to happen than a cashier simply accepting the gift card for payment). Unless Kmart has changed their register system in the past few months it does allow a gift card to be purchased with a Kmart or sears physical gift card with no manager override necessary. YMMV however as many posters have said it was refused by the cashier at check out.

Additional thought, @kevind2112 : If you have a Target Red card, have you tried to see if you can still get the 5% off when using PayPal?

Won't work. Paying with PayPal would preclude having REDcard set as default (even if you're not paying with it) because they are two different methods of payment (PayPal vs credit/debit).

I did a mock trial run & could only ascertain inconclusive results. I placed a $100 Disney card in my shopping cart and began the checkout. With my Red Card as the default payment, the total was $95. I switched to PayPal and was taken to the PayPal payment screen which indicated how the $95 would be removed from my account, and it was very specifically $95. As I didn't actually want to purchase the card, I cancelled and returned to the Target website, upon which I saw the price was now $100.

I know others have said in the past that it was impossible to combine that method, but I wasn't sure how long ago somebody had last tried and if Target had accidentally broken something when they were closing all the other loopholes.

I trust your assessment, however, that it wouldn't work.

Interesting! @PerfessorZ, I just tried your dry run and the REDcard 5% off discounted price also showed up on my PayPal. I don't think it worked this way before. I wonder if you proceeded all the way through, whether you could actually pay the discounted price with PayPal instead of REDcard. I'm a bit sleep deprived, but my initial thought is that if this works, it's still of limited usefulness outside of situations like @kevind2112's. @kevind2112 has PayPal credit he can spend but can't withdraw, so if he spends it this way at Target .com, he could make his credit go ~5% farther with the REDcard discount. But for me (and probably most people), if I can withdraw the funds from PayPal that's what I'd do and either use those funds to pay off a REDcard or credit card with a better deal/return, because paying this way through PayPal still gets you only 5% off without any other benefit.

P.S. On the subject of PayPal, Ebates sent my Big Fat Check payment to my PayPal yesterday. I miss the really big payments from the glory days, but still managed $90 from mostly organic spending.

Was it rejected after the computer tried to activate the card? My Kmart received a huge shipment of bad cards that wouldn't activate even when we tried having me paying with cash. Every time it seemed that the transaction went through until the very end when the receipt printed out with verification fail. My Kmart gift cards were drained even though the transaction wasn't completed. It took awhile for us to go through piles of cards to find the older ones. I was able to purchase what I needed in the end though.

You can get month free membership to BJ's by printing out the page from the link below:

http://www.bjs.com/savings.content.minisite_map.D?s=&sc_cid=affil

Using the Amex $25 off $100 offer at BJ's (IN STORE ONLY), you can get a $100 Disney gift card for $95.99 and buy $4.01 of something else at BJ's to put you over $100. This comes out to a 25% + the 1% the credit card gives you back for a 26% savings (You can technically argue the extra $4 you are buying should also count in the savings which would make it a 30% savings.) Definitely a lot better than the puny 5% savings people are getting at Target. This is why I have been begging people not to settle for 5 or 10% - that is just way too low. I got the offer on 9 American express accounts so I will be buying $900 of Disney gift cards.

For those of you who don't have Amex cards, now is the time to start applying so you can be ready for next year. Amex has a number of no annual fee cards, and you can add authorized users on for free. I have added my mother, father, and sister as authorized users on my 3 Amex cards which is how I have so many Amex accounts.

As another reminder, if you want to apply for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, make sure to apply for that before the Amex cards as chase won't approve you if you have more than 5 new cards in the last 24 months.

I didn't see this offer of $25 off $100 offer at BJ's. Is it an amex offer or a BJ's offer? Thanks...

Thanks @PerfessorZ, @Lain, @MichelleB and everyone else who responded to my query. I really appreciate the help. I think what I'm going to do is purchase the cards at Best Buy using my PalPal credit, then combine them into single cards for ease of use for the kids. Great suggestion!

I'm going to pay off the balance the next month, I just need the help "up front". This is a pretty last minute trip we are planning, for a Disney trip(!), and I want to make sure we'll be covered for expenses while we are there.

Thanks again!
