I heard that Sam's will soon be selling gift cards at a discount for a promotional sale ? Any idea which ones ?

You can get month free membership to BJ's by printing out the page from the link below:

http://www.bjs.com/savings.content.minisite_map.D?s=&sc_cid=affil

Using the Amex $25 off $100 offer at BJ's (IN STORE ONLY), you can get a $100 Disney gift card for $95.99 and buy $4.01 of something else at BJ's to put you over $100. This comes out to a 25% + the 1% the credit card gives you back for a 26% savings (You can technically argue the extra $4 you are buying should also count in the savings which would make it a 30% savings.) Definitely a lot better than the puny 5% savings people are getting at Target. This is why I have been begging people not to settle for 5 or 10% - that is just way too low. I got the offer on 9 American express accounts so I will be buying $900 of Disney gift cards.

For those of you who don't have Amex cards, now is the time to start applying so you can be ready for next year. Amex has a number of no annual fee cards, and you can add authorized users on for free. I have added my mother, father, and sister as authorized users on my 3 Amex cards which is how I have so many Amex accounts.

As another reminder, if you want to apply for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, make sure to apply for that before the Amex cards as chase won't approve you if you have more than 5 new cards in the last 24 months.

Yes, you can!

I used a Disney gift card for the pre-payment on the Disneyland Hotel Thanksgiving Dinner. You just have to give the CM the 16-digit number on your gift card. I haven't had to cancel a dining event so I haven't received a refund for one, but the standard practice is to refund it back to the gift card. I have had to cancel a resort reservation that had a deposit paid for with a gift card, and the refund went back to the gift card.

So a few things to consider if there's a chance you'll need to cancel -- remember the gift card you used, and make sure there's enough room on that gift card to receive your refund amount (I don't know if a gift card can have more than $1000 on it, but I wouldn't want any problems if it can't).
Thanks @Lain! that's helpful..... do you remember how long it took the rfund to show back up on your gc when you canceled the resort?

I struggle with offers like this. You can either buy the gift cards, or you can get free groceries. If we give up the free groceries in order to purchase the gift cards, is there really a savings? We just end up having to spend the money on groceries elsewhere. In terms of savings, I'm not sure there really is one - seems like a wash to me. In other words, you could just buy BJ's gift cards for yourself to use on free groceries. Then use the money you would have spent on groceries at Disney (or to buy discounted Dis gc somewhere else). Is my logic faulty?

It wasn't immediately. Maybe 3 days? They said it could take up to a week? It was definitely less than a week.

IMHO for me it's either..... no matter what I choose to buy, I am saving that amount of $$ at Bj's,and applying the savings *somewhere* in my budget lines. So I will spend that 100 per card (with the offer) and count the savings as what it is, and use the groceries/gift cards where I need them. For others, who have a more separate 'vacation budget line' they think of it differently. Either way the savings are the same. --Actually I can likely get regular groceries cheaper elsewhere than at Bj's(gasp,Aldi!) but I can't get the disney gc cheaper this easily, therefore I will likely apply this to my dis fund. (and if I was getting super detailed I would calculate the exact difference in grocery prices between Bj/Aldi and add that to my overall saving of using the offer one way vs. the other, but I don't care quite that much lol)

I try to be somewhat strategic in what I buy from warehouse stores, but I need to revisit Aldi. What do you buy there? It was a year or two ago when they opened here, and the selections were disappointing (I recall not being able to find brown rice there - weird). But now more stores have opened, and I really need to do some price comparisons.

I shop at costco not bj's so I'm not sure this will be helpful to you. You are absolutely correct you have to do price comparisons. Costco have some awesome deals on certain products but there are many items I can get much cheaper at the grocery store or target on sale. Some of the food we buy isn't necessarily cheaper but they're better quality that can be found at the grocery store.

I'm thinking through this. Are the savings the same? Consider this:

Apply Amex offer to food savings:
Food BJ's $100
Food savings Amex offer $(25)
$100 Disney gc (10% off Target/Raise, BB Amex offer, etc.) $90
Total spend $165

Apply Amex offer to Dis gc's:
Food $100
Disney gc @ BJ's $100
Disney gc @ BJ's discount (Amex offer + general BJ's 5% discount) $(30)
Total spend $170

This would hold I believe IF you assume that you're not overpaying at BJ's for your groceries.

FYI - Kroger digital coupon . . .

I'm assuming this would work today in conjunction with the 4x promo.

That is only a 10% savings, you will not get any Best Buy rewards, and the $15 promotional code only has a limited time to use it. Wouldn't it make much more sense to use the Amex offer?

I guess it depends on your situation and spending habits. Personally, I very rarely spend $100 at one time for grocery shopping. So I would have to go in to BJ's 9 times in the next 2 months and spend $100 each time, which would never happen for me.

You could buy a $100 BJ's gift card for each Amex offer. Then take your time spending.

I did not use this deal but posted it here in case it would be helpful to others. Not everyone has an Am Exp nor gets every offer on the Am Exp.

I grabbed one and got 424 fuel points! Thanks:)

Okay so a quick question. I thought you can't use a target gc online to purchase a Disney GC anymore? I found I have $41.91 left at target online. I hadn't used the account since things changed back in May. So, just to see what was up I put a $100 disney gc in the cart and went to check out. It was giving me the 5% red card discount. And It says "it's your lucky day, you have $41.91, use this to pay. So I went to checkout, and it still had the 5% discount using the target gc balance and then 53.09 on the redcard, still giving the full 5%. I didn't complete but I thought that first, you couldn't purchase disney gc with target gc online anymore and that you certainly wouldn't get the 5% on anything not on the redcard? Surprised it appears it will let me do this, won't it just actually cancel out after completing?
