Disney Destiny Update

We are sailing in March and in our prepurchase section there was a blanket option available. I wasn't able to purchase it but it was available.

We are on the DVC "First Wave" sailing on 11/28 and people on our cruise have been able to purchase it.

In 4 cruises I've only seen a couple of the shows. I can't even remember which they were. I would feel like I were getting less value if I had to sit through a show that I have no interest in.

So why disney cruise then? You pay double the prices of other cruises with worse itineraries. What does dcl do so well that is worth double the price and worse itineraries if not for the entertainment.

Good question! I never thought I would like cruising, but I always liked Disney, and after hearing lots of recommendations, I gave it a try. So, Disney is really all I know for cruising. I definitely agree on the prices and itineraries, and will very likely give another line a try if I cruise again.

But for the question, what would I like so much about it if I am skipping the shows ... I like the service, the theming, character meets, I'm usually quite happy with the food. I like doing the trivia, and some of the crafts with my kids. I love watching the disney movies playing on funnel vision, I like the rainforest room. I like exploring the ship, and being in a disney bubble. And get this ... I don't even go to things like the Sail away party or the Pirate party. So not only do I not go see the shows, but I don't do the deck parties either! I know some may not be able to understand taking a cruise without having those few hours of specific activities, but I still find it really great. In fact, one of my favorite things to do is enjoy the quiet pool deck during the early dinner / early show. It's practically empty then!

I agree with this! :goodvibes While I enjoy the shows, I've seen most of them multiple times now. I would rather enjoy the quiet adult pool deck/bar in the later afternoon instead of going back to the room to get ready for the show. With that said, our upcoming cruise will have 1 show I've never seen, 1 I've only seen once, and my favorite that I haven't seen in 10 years, so I may need to break down and actually go to 3 shows this trip. It will be hard to give up that relaxation time though, it's some of my favorite time of the cruise.
