DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM - A Spring 2013 Adventure! *COMPLETE* 11/20

I LOVE all of your updates so far! What a magical time you had at TRADITIONS! I was almost in tears when I was reading that post! You gave me goosebumps! I am so jealous! I am kicking myself for not doing this when I was in college. You are so perfect for this position! Congrats again!

What an incredible update! I was tearing up reading it.

I unfortunately never got to do the program when I was in college and I really regret not applying. So thank you again for sharing your DCP experience with us- I love reading about it :goodvibes

Sounds like a great start to your DCP. Congrats and thanks for sharing it. Don't let the negative stuff get you down.

Congratulations on your CM pin!!!! You wear it well! Why do I have the feeling you're just going to be handing your paycheck over to the CM only store? :lmao:

Traditions sounds so inspiring. You'll have no problem fulfilling that motto! pixiedust:

Thank you so much for the "behind the scenes" updates! "Traditions" sounds like absolute heaven, I would pay a ridiculous amount for the chance to be able to do that class on one of my trips, just for the experience and information.

I'm so jealous that you get to experience all this wonderful Disney magic! I wish I'd known about the DCP when I was young enough to take part...I'm ejoying living the dream through your posts and tweets!

Great updates.
its wonderful that they make it magical for the new people. Having Mickey come to welcome you and give the nametags. It makes me feel very good that the magic extends to places that the guests don't even realize exists.
You looked so sweet and very businesslike in your business clothes with your new nametag.
Congrats on being a cast member.
You may be a concierge, but i still think you are a princess too.
Thanks a million for shareing.

I'm glad your mom is coming back so soon to visit you, yay!

Omg you work at Coronado and you can eat that food every day if you want. I would be so fat within, like, a week.

I'm so glad you got the ADR but seriously what a mess with the reservations system! They better work this out before we make our ADRs for when I come to visit! I need flawless ADRs, Disney!

I love that Mark's roommates were watching Hunchback. I wish I lived in a community of Disney fans. Then maybe I would actually be friends with my neighbors, lol.

I'm honestly dying @ all of this traditions stuff, I don't even know what to say... like obviously the whole thing would have made me cry but when you said Mickey came out to say hi.... LIKE NO. STOP. I would have just fallen down.

Those stories are so touching. It is 100% true that guests need CMs and they are so important in creating the magic! I sacrifice so much so that I can get down to Disney and have my magic week or so there and I truly appreciate every CM I come across who is not only nice but goes above and beyond to make my experience all the more magical. If I became a CM, that is what I would do because I truly understand how much it can mean to someone to be in Disney. You're SO lucky you get to make the magic now, Jess!!! Ahhh I can't wait to come visit and see you in action!

OMGGGGG YOU'RE SO CUTE IN YOUR PINK BLAZER WITH THE NAME TAG I LOVE ITTTTTT

1st off, I'm lol'ing at the frumpnam style in the above post! :rotfl2:

-Anyways...CONGRATS ON BEING AN OFFICIAL CM!
-Is it weird that I almost want to cry that I'm so happy for you because I remember when you first announced you got into the program!
-THAT IS THE MOST AMAZING WALMART I HAVE EVER SEEN.
-Maria must be a really awesome room mate because she has Tangled bedding.
-Which obviously makes ya'lls room the best in the whole complex lol!
-I can't believe you went into the underground tunnels! I probably would have cried... while jumping up and down... and then attacked a character in all of my excitement.
-THE NAME TAG IS SO OFFICIAL LIKE OMG.
-Dont let some of the "unsupportive" comments get you down. This is a report on the "program" not being an employee, and I really appreciate you doing this. It's so cool to see how an ordinary person turns into a cast member!
-your kind of like my CM role model pixie dust:

Oh btw this is @joyfulregal from twitter if you remember me :upsidedow

*deep breath* OK! All caught up now!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!! I swear reading some of these things almost makes me tear up because I can feel all of the Disjoy you exude. Cannot wait to read the rest!!

Congratulation!!! What a wonderful update :cool1:

It's so exciting, what a wonderful job!

January 25th, 2013 (Part 2) - MY FIRST TIME AT MAGIC KINGDOM! (as a CP!)

After Traditions, I caught the bus back to the apartments. We saw all of our friends who had the afternoon Traditions waiting at the bus stop. We told them to have a great time!

I went up to the apartment and made myself a turkey sandwich for lunch. I had a yogurt and an apple, too. YAY HEALTHY! Then I spent some time talking on the phone!

Before I knew it, it was past 5 o'clock! I figured I should probably get my butt out of bed and over to THE MAGIC KINGDOM! Because, you know, I can get into the parks now!!

I drove over to Magic Kingdom and took the monorail over!

\When I got there, I talked to a really nice Guest Relations cast member. She was so excited that I was starting my College Program! She said the most important thing to do on the program is to TAKE THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT THEY'RE GIVING US. Networking is KEY, as well as really exploring the cast member opportunities we have. That talk with her was so wonderful and she was a great inspiration to me!

I went into Magic Kingdom and just wandered around for a bit. Then I got to Fantasyland and met up with my friend Lauren and her friend Marissa! I went to middle school with Lauren and we used to be super good friends. We went to different high schools, though, so I haven't seen her in 5 years!! We met up today, though, and it was like no time had passed at all! It was SO cute. Of COURSE we met up in Disney after all this time!

We went on the Little Mermaid ride together! It was their first time there and it was really exciting. All three of us could fit on the ride vehicle so we went through and had a blast. We were just singing all the songs and pointing out all of the characters. It was great! We got stuck in front of Ursula for quite a while, too. She's scary!!

After that, we went over to Pinnochio's Village Haus! While we were standing around in Fantasyland and the girls were talking about the different Magic Kingdom castles, snoogibear from twitter ran into me and we got to say hi! It was so nice to meet her and her husband! It sounds like you guys were having a great time!

We made our way back to Main Street, and then FINALLY Mark and his roommates were back. I met up with him at Casey's and we got hot dogs for dinner! We had to celebrate the fact that we were now OFFICIALLY CP'S!

Dinner was absolutely delicious. Casey's hot dogs taste so much better than any other hot dogs in the entire world.

img7811wz.jpg

While we ate, Wishes began! We finished before the end of the show so we went outside to watch the end of it. It was so beautiful and magical in every way!

img7812u.jpg

From there we went over to Adventureland because Mark and I wanted Dole Whips! Mark had been craving them since his first trip in May. I told him to try one and he fell in LOVE. We needed to get them again.

It was absolutely delicious as usual! Ahh I already want another one and I just had it a few hours ago!

img7813w.jpg

We ate our Dole Whips and walked over to Pirates of the Caribbean. We all rode that together. Mark's roommate Russell was seeing how all of the MK rides compared to the ones at Disneyland, since he's from San Fransisco.

After that we had 20 minutes until park closing! So we went over to Space Mountain to ride one last ride! There were six of us so we had an exactly full car!

This was Mark's first time on the ride and he was freaking out/being overly dramatic. It was so funny. We had a BLAST on that ride. (no pun intended)

Also, this ride picture is too great. Mark's face is perfect. (And in the third seat that's Mark's roommate, Russell!)

img7814an.jpg

After that we headed out of the park. The boys went home and Mark and I went to the Emporium. Mark had to buy a lanyard and I phone case. I got a couple pins. (I traded for that Donald Duck tram pin in New Fantasyland at the BatB gift shop!)

img7808u.jpg

Also, the two of us finally got our DUFFY'S! We didn't get outfits yet though because they didn't have very many. We didn't take pictures of our Duffy's yet, either. But DON'T WORRY. We will. They are going to be best friends.

While we were walking through the Emporium, a Mom came up to me and asked if my name was Jess. I said yes, and she told me that she reads my trip reports here on disboards! She also recognized Mark too, which made Mark's DAY! He likes to be famous. She is loving following along on my DCP diary because it's something that she never got to do herself. Her daughter was all dressed up in her Rapunzel dress from Bippidi Boppidi Boutique and she looked beautiful! I didn't catch your name, but if you're reading this, just post and let me know who you are! It was such a pleasure to meet you! You definitely brightened our night!

We left the park after that. It was a magical first night in the Magic Kingdom. I am just so incredibly happy and thankful to be here. It is such a dream come true and I know the rest of my program is going to be the experience of a lifetime. This is only the beginning!!!

This trip report is about my personal experience, not about my employer. It is a diary to keep track of my adventures as a college program participant.

You're writing about your personal experience as a cast member employed by Disney, meaning you are writing about your employer. Just be careful of what you say. You seem to be very positive and optimistic but sometimes you never know what may set someone off.

It sounds like a great time so far. DCP is something I found out about too late in my college career, but I was always interested in it so I look forward to reading about your experiences!

Jess, it was great meeting you and Mark last night! I have been following your reports for over a year now and am so excited to read your journal! My daughter Lorelai loves looking at your pictures when I get online :) I am glad we stopped to chat last night..it was great to have a run in and you and Mark were so nice! And I am glad you got your Duffy's ;) Now...off to wake the exhausted kiddos for our last day in MK!!!

Duffy bears! I regret not getting my two year old one in Dec, but maybe it's because I love Duffy so much and am using him for an excuse! ;) sounds like a fabulous first day! I don't think it could have been any more perfect!

Everything just seems so MAGICAL! :goodvibes It seems like you had a wonderful morning at Traditions.... I mean, how many people can say, "Yeah - our class went to Magic Kingdom for a lesson!" :thumbsup2

DOLE WHIPS! I don't blame you for wanting one only a few hours after you ate the first one. They are the BEST THINGS EVER!

I'm having so much fun reading your adventures! Not totally done with it yet...

I was hanging by a thread waiting to see where your job would be and was happy to see it was at CSR! We will be going there in June so I will look for you! (maybe you will be doing something different at that time though...)

I wish you good luck and happy adventures!
BTW~ Loved the note from your dad~ it made me tear up! Sounds like something I will say to my daughters when they grow up! :)

I've been lurking along on several of your TRs now. How exciting that you finally get to work at Disney! I'm pretty sure I would have absolutely lost it when Mickey walked in for Traditions! Anywhoo, one of the young men from my son's scout group (Well, actually, he Eagled out a couple of years ago) just started his DCP a couple of weeks ago as well. He's working Main Entrance at MK and crowds for parades. His name is Zach so if you see him say hi! He's a sweet guy. Really quiet though.
