Makes sense. Thanks - even though I didn't make it, I'm still really obsessing about this contest!

It's so cool you guys formed such a bond, and that you are so into this year's contest, too!

Firsttimecaller shared a room with me and my kids for the reunion at the Disneyland Hotel back in December. About 1/2 last years winners and some of the finalists stay in contact regularly.

I want to see who gets to make the magic this year. It's such an amazing deal to go behind the scenes.

Did last years winners get to go through some of the Disney training? "Traditions", for example? I think that is one of the best things for the winner this year.

Anne

If you read my trip report and watch my videos listed below, it might give you a bit of the stuff we got to do. Dessert reception, special fireworks viewing, costuming and makeup (we had real Pirates 3 costumes, traditions, special photos, practice, Finding Nemo grand opening, performance etc...

We all have Honorary Cast Member badges that we treasure with our lives.

Kenny, I appreciate your dedication to keeping a trusted bit of info, however, remember the code is more like a set of "guidelines" really....
pirate:

Boy, I didn't follow all of your adventures last year, no wonder you all treasure it so! It sounds amazing.

::hmm, how to get a job at WDW, think...think...think....::

Anne

I thought you guys might be interested in a few other winners experiences from last year. Here's some other blogs that were posted...

This is awesome--thanks Kenny!!!

I had read yours and Brodie's, and I just read Jordan's! These are so exciting to read, but the endings make me cry--I don't want it to be over. I can imagine how hard it must have been to leave and go back to everyday life. But you'll always have the experience, so I guess that helps a ton!

Thanks again--off to read more! :dumbo:

Me too. It has been therapeutic to hear others speak about their excitement and disappointment.

I am still just dumfounded by the judging criteria. I can’t wait to see the other 13. Perhaps I’ll be satisfied once they are known.

Some of Kenny's links got messed up a little. I still can't post links, but if you substitute the asterisks with "easyboard.com" it should work.

Glad you've enjoyed them!

Yeah, I've thought about it a lot since June, but I have a wife and three kids to support. Honestly, I'd rather work at Florida. I've wanted to live in Orlando, but my wife said I'd always be at a theme park. :rotfl:

You should start looking for jobs down here in your chosen area, just to get an idea of what's available and the salary ranges. DH and I moved a little more than 3 months ago, because I wanted to follow my dream of working at WDW. It took almost a year for me to find a job in the area that paid well and had a good career path...not at Disney. They're harder to break into than Fort Knox! A lot of CMs I've talked to over the last couple of yeas suggested finding another "real" job in the area first, moving down with that, and then once settled get a part-time job at WDW, so management can get to know you, just picking up enough shifts to stay on the radar. Then, once you're known internally, you can start applying for the "real" (a.k.a. salaried) positions. I really think this is the route I'm going to have to take, but for now we're still too far away for me to be able to work even part-time there. Oh, well, babysteps - at least we finally made it to FL!

Kenny and Firsttimecaller,

I love all the information you have posted from last year. It all sounds so amazing! Has anyone heard anything else about this year's contest?

Justin, wouldn't you be the best one to have any additional information about this year's contest?

Since you are a teacher, did they schedule your interview and ask the best time for you?

Bet you feel like you need to cross your "t"s and dot your "i"s, huh?

Have you been able to sleep at all?

I have been living vicariously through you - so get good rest and show 'em what you got!

Thanks. I suppose I'd be the one - but I'm keenly aware of the fact that I am not as plugged into certain parts of the Disney community as some of the members of DIS. :)

As for the interview: they were very gracious (of course, they're Disney!) and I was given a range of days and times that were available to choose from.

So far, so good on the sleep, but that might change as it gets closer.

Just checking back in... I think that I've pretty much kept up with this thread but I wanted to double check: No one else that made it to the top 20 has come forward? We still only know of the seven?

So far only 7 have come forward.

Take that frown -turn it upside-down and you'll find yours I know -ho-ho!:)
"Laughing Place" lyrics for those who are clueless.

Hey...does anyone remember "The Song of the South" movie. I saw it in theatres as a kid.
If fact...I say "please to meet ya" just like the little poor girl in the movie, however no one really ever gets it. I am sure some think I'm just a Looney since hardly anyone has seen the film.
