I have a vivid memory of seeing "Song of the South" on an air force base in Germany as a kid. I remember it specifically because my sister was coming after her ballet lesson. I was in line with our neighbors. Just as we got our tickets, they put up the "Sold Out" sign in the window. I spent the entire movie crying because my sister was missing it.

I finally checked out the web site listed at the end of your video submission. I noticed that you met your wife working as an entertainer at an amusement park. If I were the betting "type," I'd wager that the park was Busch Gardens Williamsburg! Your Hampton Roads home-base also makes sense, because -- based on your previous post -- it sounds like you were a military "brat."

Anyway, the personal web page was a good idea! Oh, I'm also guessing that it doesn't hurt to have experience as a theme-park performer when you're pursuing a job that includes -- among other things -- amusing guests at a major theme park!

Cat: You must have a pretty cool work environment for all of your colleagues to pitch in like that. I’m guessing your great love of Disney is no secret in that office…

Oh, and, HMF: I hate to admit it, but ... I just now watched your video for the first time... I know! I know! There's no excuse! It's not like you didn't post it within this thread at least a-bazillion times! Another cute video! So, who’s the brave soul who agreed to videotape you on all of those thrill rides? (I hope you at least treated him/her to dinner afterwards…)

Anyway, I repeat what I've said before: 1300 submissions is a lot of videos to wade though! I'm hoping those judges had a good system in place. I certainly don't envy them. (Well, let me rephrase that: I do envy them, because they have inside jobs at Disney. I wouldn't, however, want to be the one to make the final cut! KWIM?)


If anyone ever finds those videos that DSNY4ever mentioned in an earlier post, I'd love to see them:

I can't find these videos anymore but liked them- The one where the dad lights up the swing set in the end and his daughter is tinkerbell, or the Newscaster that I mentioned before with the "CNN" type scroll across the bottom, and there was another similar to Andy's with the animated characters helping him get ready for work and his pumpkin turned into his car.

Someone asked about questions for the Top 20...I assume they will ask the basic questions ("tell me about yourself; name a time you succeeded in your work; tell us about a time your project failed", etc) so I tried to come up with other questions they might ask just to see how you do under pressure...

1) Name 3 different ways to spread the magic to a family who is hot, tired and has crying kids

2) How are you most like Donald Duck?

3) What's the best way to get from Narcoosee to Winter Summerland Mini-Golf using WDW Transportation?

4) What do you think Walt Disney would say to Disney shareholders today?

5) As CMO, what would you want to share with others about Disney?

6) What are you doing now to prepare to be CMO?

Thanks - and you are right about my work environment - in fact the woman who has the smoking monitor is our Dean of the Libraries! We also showed my video at Dean's Corner last week.

Everyone was so excited about me entering - I'm really dreading telling them all tomorrow that I didn't make it to the next round. They'll be almost as disappointed as me. Oh, well...

Although, the "minor" (true) theme park that I did the most work at was King's Dominion outside of Richmond. My very first job was at Busch Gardens in a medieval faire area where you had to maintain a character all day. (Mine was Gideon the Lovelorn)

I worked for 4 seasons at Kings Dominion (during college). I was a singer in outdoor shows including my favorite show "Country Roads" where I played a character named Clovis. I also emceed most of the dance and cheerleading competitions during that time.

I never made the leap to Disney (the big leagues)... though my wife did audition, but had to turn down a job in Tokyo.

Yikes... just learned something about my own family that I had confused! My wife read my post and corrected me.

She did audition for Disney (at age 17) and made it all the way through final cuts, but didn't get a job. However, around the same time, she was offered a show in Tokyo... but she turned it down because it was topless!!!

I mixed the two stories together in my head and forgot the non-Disney part!

Super Sleuth, huh? (Why, thank you! ) My DD5 will be quite impressed with those credentials.

'Good thing I didn't actually place money on that bet! (... And this is why I don't gamble! ) Kings Dominion would have been my second guess, though. It's just a little farther up the road.

I've wondered whether the overseas Disney Parks rely more on nationals, Americans or a mix for their talent.

That Disney is a more than a Destination or vacation. It's about making memories that will last a lifetime. Not only will you tour the parks with your children, but also your grand children!
