Has frozen pizza declined in quality lately?

I don't know why anyone still buys frozen pizzas when just about every grocery store has "fresh" take and bake pizzas. We usually do one of those doctored up unless we decide to order from somewhere. Used to do homemade a lot before I got laid off because I could sometimes get Boboli crusts dirt cheap. And I have occasionally made pizza with one of the pre-made dough balls, like when I tried to do Detroit style or when there were leftover Spiedies I wanted to use up on a pizza.

Also, having no freezer room because you've got a side-by-side fridge helps break you of the frozen pizza habit.
Exactly. No reason to buy frozen.

chef boyardee was the 'overpriced name brand' according to my mom-she bought Appian Way brand :rotfl: I honestly do not remember eating frozen pizza as a kid.
My mom grew up during the depression, and I grew up in the 1960's when money was tight as well. Nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than walking into K-Mart on a Saturday morning and hear them announce "attention K-Mart Shoppers, for the next 10 minutes our blue light special is in the deli, two submarine sandwiches for 75 cents". I knew what lunch was that day.
And I seem to recall the frozen pizzas being on sale for like 2 for a dollar.

Lately it is very hard to find a decent frozen pizza and I think it's because frozen pizza has declined in quality these days and the only frozen pizza that actually tastes great is Red Baron Pizza. Take for example I tried Freshetta "sorry about the spelling" Pizza and it was like a French baguette with pepperoni and sauce on it and I do not know how people can buy Freshetta Pizzas. But the only other frozen pizza I do like is the Celeste Pizzas and their pizzas actually taste great. But if you go to any supermarket all the frozen pizzas they have now are either tomato and basil or veggie pizzas. I mean where is combination pizzas pepperoni pizzas and Hawaiian pizzas? Because pepperoni pizza is a favorite with everyone next to combination pizza and Hawaiian pizza is third. But if frozen pizza continues to decline in quality I don't know how they can improve them
Corporations are a platypus. They don’t care about quality these days, just 💵💴💶💴💵

LOL, I will never have a side by side refrigerator!

The last couple of times we've done pizza at home, we've just made our own. It's more expensive, but it seems to better. I don't like a lot of red sauce on mine, and I can control that. Plus, with it being just crust, tomato sauce, meat and cheese, we can control what ingredients we use.

I have had side by side freezers for 43 years. Frozen pizzas fit perfectly on their side in there.

I always have a Cheese or Pepperoni DiGiorno pizza and a Barbeque Chicken California Pizza Kitchen pizza in my freezer. I don't buy them because they're high quality. I buy them because we like the way those 2 particular pizza's taste and it's a quick last-minute meal. I prefer a fresh baked pizza that we pick up from our local pizza place or a pizza that I make from scratch; but sometimes we're just hungry for a thin, crispy crust pizza from the freezer. Our local grocery store has take-n-bake pizzas and they usually have a few that are already baked in the grab-n-go area, but despite everyone else in the area loving those pizzas, we think they are about the worst pizzas we've ever had and will happily grab a pizza from the frozen foods area of the store before we eat one of those again.

my mom would have been mentally calculating how many loaves of bread and pounds of sliced meat she could buy for that amount b/c 'we have perfectly good lettuce, pickles, tomatos, onions, mayo and mustard at home' ::yes:: thinking back now-with the exception of being on vacation and going to a coffee shop where I might choose a club sandwich for a meal I can't ever recall eating a purchased prepared sandwich until I was in college (we did not have realy any independant delis and the chains didn't hit our region until the very late 70's/early 80's so that may have made a difference).

I haven't done much frozen pizza as of late. I like the Motor City ones. That has been about the only kind I have had in probably a couple years. It would not surprise me in the least if the quality has declined on most frozen pizzas. That seems to be a common theme for about every product, higher price and lower quality.

Not if all the space is used for more important items like meat and veggies (and the occasional ice cream).
Off the top of my head, my side by side has 5 lbs of hamburger, 3 lbs of chicken, 3 packages of veggies, 4 ice trays, 1 ice cream, big ziploc bag of Italian icees, big bags of fish sticks, french fries, chicken nuggets, 1 pkg each hot dog & hamburger buns, & English muffins a loaf of bread, a cold pack, 4 blue ice bottles, hot dogs, at least 6 packages of bologna, and still have room for 2-3 large frozen pizzas.

nothing says "delicious" as a Tombstone at the local bar, heated up in the "pizza oven" by the bartender and he serves it up with hot peppers and parm. Especailly when you're a few beer in... even better!
