Thought I'd post my favorite outfits too:

The Giselle one is one of my favorites, because I had to make the pattern all my own self, and I was pretty pleased with how it all turned out:

Hmm, it still needs a ribbon though!

I love this Giselle dress! I'm making DD5 the white dress like Giselle. I think the dresses are so cute for the girls. It fits perfecty on your daughter and I love the scalloped top of the bodice!

Haha, so I just tested out my machine. I think it's a lemon. That's why she sold it to me for $50. The thread just keeps jamming and winding around the bobbin case. I have to keep taking it apart and putting it back together. I know I have everything set up right. Maybe I should suck it up and buy a new machine. She said she had only used it once. The inside was rusted. I cleaned it and oiled it. But it's still jamming...boo All the reviews I've read on this machine have been terrible:sad1:

I hope you get things figured out

Here's my little cuties easter outfit:
This was my first piecing applique, I think it turned out ok- but I'm not a good judge- I just see what I could have done better :scared:
I had planned for there to be more green in the dress when I made the bow, But I might still use it, if I don't have time or energy to make another.
47b8dd37b3127cceb61f3fae926300000026101AZsXLhszbMY

I also planned to do a rouching (sp?) ruffle on where the dress and ruffle meet- I have the "tube" sewed but now I'm not sure- What do you all think??

How cute
I finish the farm print peasant top, as soon as I can find a camera, I'll take a picture of it and of the new sewing space.

I love the binky pictures, my DD still uses a binky, she was also a multi-binky user. Heres a picture from two years ago that I had to snap.

3binkydelaney.jpg

I plan on doing some more sewing tomorrow. I need to get on the decoupage pants tomorrow so I can manage to finish that up and an easter twirly top for an egg hunt next Saturday and dinner at my parents' house on Sunday.

Babies and their binkies are so cute, my kids have never done the many binkies at a time thing but they do love their pacis.

Is this it? How sad is it, that I've made a few and can't remember which picture I had on here..LOL

Very cute!

That dumbo dress is great! I always feel awful when I bid on something I miss it and I don't get it! arrgghhh. I sadly just went through our closets and had to list a ton of stuff that does not fit anymore. It is sad to see customs go that you just loved. Here is my favorite hands down!!! I forgot I asked the question but did not share!
Our Queen of Hearts dress. I did not make it though. I loved it an paid over $200 for it - wwwaaaaa

I love it! I am sure you all remember me posting it. I just had to list that too. I am sooo sad, but I don't think nicholas would want to wear it. he did not even want to wear the white rabbit costume! THis is the only good pic I got of all 3 smiling and it is blurry! We are still thinking of this years theme, I am thinking a french theme and make the girls marie antoinette costumes! Now that will be a challange!

Love the queen of hearts, I may have to try something like that for Gabi

I have TONS of favorites, but one of mine that I made was the Aloha Minnie
It was one of the first things I ever made..LOL
I love the minnie head for the O in aloha, how creative

I've been sewing!! DD will wear one of these for her school pictures tomorrow. I just need to decide which one!! Which would you choose? The background will be a park setting (trees) with a tree trunk prop. These are McCall pattern 5615. The bows are making the cupcake one hang wonky!

They are both super cute, I like the cupcake one I think, but mainly cuz I love the matching bows so much

OK, I know you are all getting sick of these patchwork twirl skirts that I have been making, but I keep getting requests for the stinkin' things. My sister asked me to make this for her neice...
clothingcreations033.jpg

closeup of fabric. This is seersucker, I just love the print!
bows

Awww, I'm sure she'll love that outfit

This is my first Anna dress- LOVE IT! Man, no zippers, buttons, loosey goosey fitting AND it's cute? What more could anyone ask for? :cool1:

I had the hardest time trying to match a fabric to the mickey swirl. The rainbow's pretty wild, but workable for a 7 year old, lol. I'm not crazy about the straps I wanted to make them a 3rd print, but again, couldn't find what I wanted. I may just redo with the rainbow print. (Or the swirls? or one of each???)

It's not hemmed yet, trying to decide if I should put anything around the bottom? A ruffle? something for a trim? (I thought about rickrack, but I think it'd have to be something bolder than that to contrast the prints.) Any ideas?

I just finished my first Anna too, I'm making an underdress though so I can't post it yet. I'm not sure what I would add to it, I didn't add anything to mine yet either.

I figured out how to get Lily to pose willingly (if not a bit overdramatically) for photos--GLITTER LIPGLOSS!:cutie:

Here is my shameless glorib CASE

And just in case you were enjoying springlike weather: (at least it is melting fast, yesterday it was 7" deep :sad1: )

IMG_0095.jpg

Too cute, I love the posing she's doing for you here

I am way behind & just spent all morning trying to catch up. Your outfits are great as always!

So, here are my newest projects. Both are reversible.

Here is what I have been up to lately.....

celebrating Morgan's birthday!

Happy Birthday Morgan

Hope you all are wearing Green Today! We are!! If your not then The Taylor Kids are going to pinch you!!!!
Happy St. Patricks day!!!

Lori

We wore green, not much handmade on us today but we did wear green. Your kids look adorable.

That last seam is a little tricky!

Make sure right sides are together, and match your shoulder seams and your bottom seams. Pin those together.

You are essentially sewing the inside seam without turning the garment inside out. It is so hard to explain.

The last little bit of the seam gets really tight, so you have to hand stitch it closed.

it is driving me crazy that i cant figure it out, and i know once i do it i will be kickin myself that i made it this hard, lol

ok, i have basically 4 fabrics to seam, 2 from the front piece, 2 from the back piece. would i do the inner 2 together, then the outer two? or the other way around? i am not going to reverse it, if that matters. i just used the same fabric for the whole thing. ugh, why oh why do i always make things harder than they should be?? :headache:
thanks again for putting up with me! :confused3

Cute! Great job repurposing so you didn't have to make a whole new one-day only outfit! :thumbsup2

They are cute! I love the lettuce edging on them. I might have to try some. I also like that they are long, some of these shorts they make for girls are practically indecent!

Ok, here it is. It fits like a glove but I could still get it over the peasant dress. I love the fabrics, with little purses all over it. Megan requested a matching dress for her dolly.

What a cute outfit! I just love Loralie fabric. I used her Sophistikitties fabric for my daughter's nursery and have some of her dog fabric saved for a future outfit. And she has so many new fabrics coming soon... my wish list keeps growing.

I love all the St. Pat's outfits posted! My DH thinks I'm crazy for buying the baby a St. Pat's onesie - just wait until next year, she'll be almost 15 months and I'll be able to sew for her.

I've just cut my fabric out but probably won't get to sew it until tomorrow night so if you haven't figured it by then, I'll have ago with you!

Ok this is what I've been doing this weekend. Firstly this is the dress I've made Hope. I'm going to make another one for our trip but applique mickey heads instead of circles.

Picture169.jpg

I'm not going to show you the back as there is a bit of a fold at the bottom of the zip but hopefully it wont be too noticeable when she's wearing it.
Next are my purchases!! I went to a show called 'Sewing for Pleasure' with my SIL. I came away with some more patterns and fabric.

Picture172.jpg

The blue with dots is corduroy so I'm planning a nice wintery pinafore for next year but haven't any real plans for the rest.

Finally, here is the Easter bonnet for nursery. The only problem is I made it whilst Hope was in bed and guessed the size of her head. Well you guessed it - I'm no where near and its way too small but never mind!!

here was my first project(test skirt) this is some material that I already had from making cloth diapers.

now I just have to figure out what to do with it lol

I hope someday to be as good as everyone here!! You all do beautiful work.

I had one of my obnoxiously long multi-quotes going when Sawyer turned my computer off for me. So helpful! I wanted to say that I love Teresa's Build-A-Bear dress, too. ;)
I've never bought a custom from anyone else. I'm too cheap, err....frugal and I always get outbid! So, I'll have to toot my own horn. This first one is the first thing I made Tessa (besides adding a skirt to a t-shirt to make a dress) last July. I still really like it:
7-20-07closeup.jpg

But, this is my favorite, FAVORITE dress. Cinderella is my favorite Disney movie and I always liked this dress better than Cinderella's ball gown.

I thought I remembered someone posting a finished dress using this pattern recently. I found this on the photobucket site

S2010089.jpg

But I couldn't find who originally posted it in the thread. I NEED to know (really, really, bad NEED to know) how this wonderfully gifted seamstress did the piping. Mine came out looking like dookie. Based on what I can see from this photo, it looks like s/he may have done it differently than the instructions in the pattern. Or, I am just totally not getting the instructions.

Oh wonderful seamstress of the above dress, please help!
I am the one who did that dress and I cheated. I used Bias tape prepackaged from Wal-Mart.

I love those tiered dresses...too too cute!!

are they tough to make or on the easier side?

As a complete and total novice who completely admits to throwing in the towel as soon as things get overly complicated and I feel like a moron...

would these dresses be too difficult for a beginner?:flower3:

:lmao: I knew that looked way too neat for those crazy instructions! What I have done so far is remove the binding/piping from the bodice and press it like a pre-packaged bias tape. My plan is to sew the lining to the bodice, turn it, and then use my homemade bias on the outside. Does that make sense? Sounds like that is what you did as well. I'm just making my own bias out of the trim fabric.

So here's the ultimate breaking point. I've been working in secret to make DD8 a grand ball Belle dress for two weeks now. I've had to take the dress apart 4 times because the darn thread breaking when I was pulling the skirt to ruffle it. So Sunday I surprise her with it and we all decide the bottom is wrong. Again with the wripping apart (5xs) So the sleeves are decided and the skirt looks good so now I'm working on the gold ribbon edging for the bodice. Working on it having some tough time because of the sequins, but my Brother machine is doing the job. Then suddenly I hear 'bing' and I look and there's my needle -:scared: - BROKEN!!!:scared1: Do you think this is a sigh?? So now I've sent DH over to Joanne's to get me a needle. The man has no idea what a sewing machine needle looks like, but thankfully he is dressed in uniform as a mailman so when he asks no one will think he's a crazy man!:rolleyes1 Now I've decided to hand stitch  the ribbon around the edge to move things along because I still have a white Giselle dress, a pink Ariel dress, a pirate skirt and a princess skirt to make all within a months time.

I just thought I'd share my anxiety with the needle breaking with everyone, because I know someone's been there before. Oh did I mention there's no dinner done yet and it's 6:30pm. Yup, bad mother syndrom as well.:rolleyes1 DH's picking that up on his way home too. Love that man!

did anyone watch oprah today. when simon said he was paying off the couples mortgage, I think I had more emotion then they did?
I know off subject

I completely agree. It was odd...I figured they must be in shock...the dad just stood there nodding his head.

Maybe after what they've been through, everything else seems trivial.

I was crying like a big fat baby myself!:lmao:

If the homemade bias tape is not cut properly it won't work right with the curved parts of the dress. The bias tape has to be cut at an angle across the fabric. If that makes sense. The angle that it is cut at makes it easier to curve the bias tape around any curves you might have. That is why I buy store bought bias tape.

you know after listening to there story I was wondering why they did not use ronald mcdonald house services to live closer or why they drive so far every day. that to me was crazy. the gas price would be the same as a hotel room! and why both parents go to the hospital. I am not in there position and do not want to judge, but you would think there is a coordinator in the hospital that helps out families like that. We go to phx children's hospital for nicholas all the time and there is always a coordinator available if we ever needed help. But so far we are just fine.

Well, I'm new to sewing but I can totally relate. I just bought this machine from someone and everytime I try to use it, it jams! I feel your pain! I hope everything turns out beautifully for you!

Okay, here is my all-time fav. outfit! I did not make it, (obviously :rotfl: ) Nor did I buy it :sad1: (couldn't justify spending that much $ on it when it wouldn't fit Lily for 3 or 4 more years)

LeighannaMinniedress002.jpg

But I LOVE it! BTW, Tom or anyone, what pattern is that? No, I do not for a minute believe I could ever CASE it, but I think I want to use that pattern for a minnie dot dress for Lily and I have no idea what pattern it is. TIA

And OMG, Heather or Teresa, I can't remember which one of you does the organizing of photobucket and which one hates that part, but arranging stuff by fabric is SO COOL! You rock!
