Direct Price Increase Today

Where do you see manage vacation points? I see it on my dashboard, but when I click on it, there is no add on tool.

If you're just looking for the add on page, you can actually locate it from your front page.. just scroll down and I think after the ads for DVC shopdisney items you'll see a blue box on right hand side that says "new add on tool request"

Funny, I decided to do DVC instead of a 529 Plan. I am in a tax free state so the benefits of a 529 are not as good. I figure i can enjoy vacations and sell off for extra cash if needed for college for kids in the future.
Funny! I live in tax hell (New Jersey). My daughter is 2 months old so I wanted to start as young as possible. I did purchase a small VB contract to get my fix that I paid for with mostly credit card points. So bye bye monthly payment.

so what exactly are people thinking an alternative be to an AP at both DL and WDW?

Stepping back and looking at this situation, it makes sense from DVC’s standpoint. Reflections has been canceled. Not delayed, but canceled. Because of this, the future inventory of points is greatly diminished. The direct contracts/points at Riviera won’t last forever...that resort will be sold out eventually. So how do you make up some of that lost future revenue from the Reflections cancellation? Increase the price for current resorts. It’s supply and demand.

I don't feel so bad about my purchase last year now. I bought 300 points at Riviera and with the sale they were having my total was $45778.74 with zero down. Looking just now and the same contract is $8000 more. I have made a few principle payments on top of the monthly payment so I only owe $33k. My goal is to have it paid for by 2025.

This is the current offer ...
Disney's Riviera Resort
One-Time Costs

Purchase Price
$58,500.00
(300 Vacation Points x $195.00)

Closing Costs
$1,284.43

(Offer Ends Feb 5, 2021)3

Total One-Time Costs

That’s how I feel. We bought into DVC last year…we closed on BCV in February. The value of that contract just went up. Although it is a moot point because we don’t plan on selling. Our plan is to enjoy the contract until it expires.

My guess is that they will move to a limited number of park days APs, probably a couple different levels

It is a good chance that they are trying to push sales to RIV and raising sold out resorts may help that. I think sold outs are near 40% of current sales.. I am thinking they would like to push that back down to more historic levels. DVD still has a lot of investment sitting in RIV and the margin on those sales are much higher than the sold out resorts.

As a side note BCV has now reached a point cost per year plus maintenance is $20/pt so I wonder if this essentially is the top since it is going to increase 5% each year even if they do not raise prices

I'm sure that's the intent, although 40% seems pretty high. Then again, they are giving tours at all the resorts so they're effectively pushing it. I'm sure "check out Riviera, it's the newest and is cheaper" gets worked into the pitch at some point.

We have done the tours at all the resorts and the hardest one to get to of is RIV you have to be put on the list to get past the guard gate. All the others you can drive up to the gates and say you are there to tour the grand villas. I did notice though that when we toured RIV our tour guide knew our DVC ownership details, so they were planning ahead I guess to better make a sale there than the other resorts.

Wow! BCV and BWV is probably to encourage RIV purchases. Cannot justify that cost for a 2042 resort. They are actually encouraging resale purchases! BLT, BCV, PVB, and BWV resale might see pricing close to 200.00 range on small contracts. If anyone is on the fence of selling this might be the time. No longer makes sense to buy direct for those resorts.

Absolutely not
not even on a reduced price? for example if they take them back and say just before they put it back on the market extend a discount for those who own there lets say 15-20 dollars per point savings if they buy back by a certain time frame

Absolutely not
Nick Cotton on the DVC Fan show this morning made some good points when discussing why he thinks from a business point they will and how they could avoid the title issues that happened at OKW. Said if it happens, it won’t happen until much closer to 2042 than we are now.
