Direct Price Increase Today

Lots of new DVC resale listings today. Coincidence or are people really PO'd at Disney? I know I feel like I got a kick in the gut and DH does too...and he doesn't usually react like I do.

Edit: I'm now washing floors two down and seven to go...grhhh :laundy: cleaning "therapy"

I have friends with the "cleaning therapy" gene. I wish I had it. My house would be spotless.

I have the "eating and drinking therapy" gene. It's not so good.

I think Disney wanted to implement alot of changes and now is using covid as an excuse ME-EMH-AP in disneyland and now this increase I think thers more to come Fast pass - disney dining to mention a few it gives them and excuse to shut them down and reopen them with the changes

I agree with this. I also think they will at some point be announcing a string of positive news and would like to group bad news together first so they can turn the story/narrative back in a positive direction. Hence the reason for announcing the end of Magical Express a year in advance. My theory is they want all the bad out of the way by the time they start announcing 50th anniversary celebrations (however minimal they may or may not be), the potential return of fireworks, AP renewals, etc.

My CCV points listing went up yesterday. I had planned to sell this year anyway. My plan was to take the monthly loan and dues payment and put it towards my daughter's 529 plan. But the events of this week definitely made this decision a little less painful. I'm just hoping it sells faster now with the increase in direct prices.

This may be a dumb question, but won’t direct increases ultimately lead to resale price increases? Did you consider waiting a month or so for the resale market to catch up from a pricing perspective?

Based on the post on DVCFan, CCV wasn't one of the resorts where direct prices increased. But maybe that might have someone rethink buying direct and buy resale instead.

Good point. I think the resale increase is probably marginal regardless of resort. I guess rising tide raises all ships type of thing. Probably not enough to hold off selling. Thanks!

I just received a backpack and two magnets from my recent direct add on. The magic is back baby!

Did you have to ask your guide to send it since it was an add on? I didn't get anything for my recent add on. I think I need a new guide.

Next time a guide tells you a tip like that feel free to leave that on these boards 👍👍 (and if you don’t want to mention it publicly I bet @pkrieger2287 would take your PM on the matter!)

Thanks @CastAStone ... Definitely will always listen to someones recent scoop as long as it's not from a bus driver.

We got the numbers right on this one but were off by a month it seems.

I don’t think that is coming. I actually expect that the next thing to drop will be no more annual passes at WDW,l. That means another incidental benefit loss.
I can't see this... They are still allowing renewals so I think those will stay around.
They wanted an excuse for year's to ax Disneyland AP’s and reinvent that system and they finally got one.

Once the good news starts its going to be every few months. Ratatouille, resort reopenings, showing off Poly’s Moana refurb, Fireworks returning, shows returning, parades returning, capacity limits dropped, barriers removed, Tron, Guardians, Play!, and so on. That’s all in the next 24 months.

I think they are going to rollout Genie and a new membership program to drive new revenue streams at the parks over the next 18 months.

In all honestly think this was going to happen even without the pandemic. The pandemic might have actually delayed the roll out of both at WDW. Chapek is on the record talking about how AP’s reduce revenue. I think Genie will be a way they incorporate some of the extras members get depending on their membership level like extra fast passes.

Funny, I decided to do DVC instead of a 529 Plan. I am in a tax free state so the benefits of a 529 are not as good. I figure i can enjoy vacations and sell off for extra cash if needed for college for kids in the future.

Could you purchase AP vouchers that didn't expire until 2030 for Disneyland? I have a WDW one sitting in my account. I wonder how they'd handle that - just give full refunds like the active APs?

I have not heard of a program called Genie. I guess I'll need to head over to the Rumors board or something.

Were you planning to buy more?

What is Genie?
