I was reading a Disney brochure today and it was in a table form and
DINOSAUR was listed as a "thrill ride" along w/ a scary slide and space mountain.

My question is: How scary is Dinosaur, and what is scary about it??

Thank yoU!

You are talking to the biggest 40 year old wimp around and I think it is very scary.....:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: < That is me after 1 ride and vowing never to go again, lol!

Dinosaur is intended to imitate time travel. As we all from watching movies (;)), time travel is a lot like riding in a jeep with bad shocks on a bumpy, curvy mountain road. There will be some bumps and a few small drops, and some sudden turns. There are also dinosaurs looking (and sometimes growling) at you, and a lot of the ride is in semi-darkness.

It wasn't too scary, I loved it!! It does get you a little with some of the Dinosaurs. All part of the fun!!;)

All I know is that I held on for dear life, closed my eyes, and screamed through the whole thing.

I don't enjoy mostly dark rides with dinosaurs jumping out at you...

It was scary IMO but I'm a big wimp. I won't do Bugs Life either.

It is scarey. My DS who was fixing to turn 4 last Thursday went on the ride last week. I explained to him that the dinosaurs were just robots. He was scared some, he held my hand, but never screamed or cried. He says he wants to ride it again. It is pitch black and the scariest part is at the very end.

About 6/10 of the ride is in darkness. The T-Rex at the end gets you pretty good. Its pretty jerky. I liked it a lot.

We were on the ride our last trip with a kid about 10 that was terrified. His mom kept insisting that he watch and not hid his face. . My DS however has always loved it.;) . It is pretty jerky too if that is an issue. WE really like this ride in our family.

I've skipped it on our last 2 trips b/c it freaked me out so bad. It's not even the dinosaurs popping out at me that scared me, it's the waiting for something to happen....the anticipation. It gave me the heeby jeebies all day.

I've vowed that I will try it again this trip....but we'll see!

yeah, the breathing in the dark gets the old ticker to ticking:p

OH MY!!! Very scary! I am a thrill ride junkie, too....never have I been so scared! LOL I took my DD age 5 on this and kept telling her, "Oh, it is just a few robot dinosuars!" I got about 20 seconds in and (HUGE laugh!!!) buried MY head in HER lap! :) You should have seen that picture they take and display in the post-ride...too darn funny! Here she is looking terrified with her MOMMY'S head shoved into HER lap! :)

Ummmmmm, we will skip it at Xmas.

PS: Hubby went on afterwards stating it couldn't be THAT bad....his picture was awfully funn at the end too! Yup, he'll skip it , too!

WOW THIS RIDE SOUNDS FUN>... like jurassic park-ish sort of.......

i can't wait!! so where do we get to see and buy our photos??

does anyone have any they can post from their dino ride?? :cheer2:

In the movie Jurassic Park the dinosaurs always scare me - especially the raptors (and T-Rex).

The Dinosaur ride at WDW does the same for me.

For some reason it's like time is suspended and I actually feel for a brief moment what the fear/awe would be like if dinosaurs really were alive again. The first time I came out of the theater after seeing Jurassic Park, I had this weird feeling of looking around and expecting dinosaurs to be walking next to our car.

I guess that's a pretty good recommendation if a movie or ride can make the imagination fire up like it did when I was a child.

The "fear factor" doesn't stop me from loving both of them and doing it again and again.

And yes, Dinosaur is a VERY jerky ride - plant your feet apart and brace yourself.

The thing that is the worst for me is how LOUD it is in that ride. After several times of going on and NEVER opening my eyes, I have now seen what goes on in there. My ten year old twins and my mom "talked me through it" and I kept my eyes open as they told me what was coming up next:rolleyes: I am such a wimp.

Last time down we took my son (8) and nephew (7, who had rode it before) to ride it. My nephew decided he would be smart and sit on the right ouside seat (where he thought it wouldn't be as scarry) and my son insisted on sitting on sitting on the left outside seat. ROFL, by the time it was over both of them were nearly sitting in our laps.

It is quite scarry for children, thought I really never gave it a second thought. My son still swears he will never ride it again.

It's scary and quite bumpy, but that's it. It's not a "thrill" ride in the sense of Tower of Terror or Space Mountain. Just be sure to duck at the end, or that big guy will bite your head clean off!

I'll join the Wimp group. I am absolutely terrified of this ride. I plugged my ears and closed my eyes and still screamed all the way through. I had several people ask if me if I was alright after I got off the ride. I was white as a sheet.

Never again..I do not like things jumping out at me.

I am 37 and am terrifed in this ride. I have ridden it about a dozen takes for the sake of my family. The vehicle "ride" itself is not scary, it is those darn dinosaurs jumping out and growling at you. I have not been able to keep my eyes open more than about 20 seconds into the ride. Right after the very nice plant eating triceratops. After that forget about it!

If you don't know it's coming, that T-Rex at the end will scare the #%@! out of you! :scared1:

I always look the same on the ride photo...hands covering ears, with my face buried in my lap. I hate dinosaurs, they are very scary. I ride Dinosaur for my DH. The beginning is okay, but it gets very hairy at the end.
