DINOSAUR is listed by Disney as a "Thrill Ride" in a brochure - How scary IS IT?

To me - VERY SCAREY!!!

I am 32 years old and I keep my eyes closed the entire ride because I know what's coming at the very end and it freaks me out. They take your picture at the really scarey part at the end of the ride. In every picture I have ever seen of myself all you see is my head hanging with my hair all over the place because I refuse to even lift my head for fear of accidently seeing the end part. Even though I don't look at the end I still scream and am scared to death when I hear the T-Rex and feel the wind. yes, I'm a chicken!

I love thrill rides!! This is one I love going on again & again!! Even though I know what's going to happen I love all the suprises!! I have picture of my whole family (7 in all) on the ride -- in the picture you can only see 4 of us. The other 3 are hiding from TREX!!

Go for it!!

Well, if my 5-year-old niece were answering this post, she would say, "Yeah, it's scary! Uncle Ivy and Aunt Cindy 'dramatized' me on that ride." I've tried to tell her the word it "traumatized" but to no avail.

We went on that ride the first day of our trip and we paid for it the rest of the week. Neither of us had been on it before. If Ivan and I had ridden it before, I wouldn't have put her on it.

I told her before the ride that the dinosaurs were pretend. What I didn't realize is that she thought that meant they were statues; she didn't realize they would move.

I think the dark really bothered her more than anything. After Dinosaur, any dark spot on any ride, she got tense. Even non-scary rides.

If you're going to have your child ride it, definitely don't do it first thing on your trip!

Allow me a p.s. to my prior post please, just noticed someone's comment about their picture on this ride.

In retrospect, our photo was funny, but it wasn't at the time. Our niece was sitting in the middle of us and one of us was diving to cover her eyes and one of us was diving to cover her ears.

This picture sums up how I feel about Dinosaur
I am front row far left. If that seatbelt wouldn't have been holding me in I would have been long gone. :earseek:

So I can't figure out the picture thing.

I have been back on it and not being in the front row does help some.

This ride is a bit scary and very loud and bumpy, but I can't really agree that it's very scary. I find that, after the first time or so, I have trouble being more than pleasantly excited. Maybe, I'm just immune!

I am a major fan of exciting rides and attractions, but Dinosaur scares the behoopyjoopies out of me! It's extremely dark, even the pterodactyls have mean eyes, and when the carnotaurus comes for the jeep, particularly the final time, it really doesn't matter that I'm fairly sure that it isn't real and we haven't actually traveled back in time, and I lived through it every time before -- I always figure I'm Dino Chow.

The first time I rode this, it was with my best friend as our first thing on our first time ever in AK. The picture, which, darn, we didn't get, shows the two of us, grown women, shoving as far back in our seats as humanly possible, with expressions of naked terror on our sheet-white faces. In the front seat was a 9-year-old girl with a 'ho-hum-there's-a-dinosaur' look on her own face.

Not for the faint of heart of the overactive of imagination!

The commentary in the first room by Bill Nye the Science Guy is cool, though, and I like the preshow very much.

I LOVE this ride!! It is bumpy and loud....and very dark at times, but I never go to AK without riding Disnosaur at least twice. By the end of the ride I am laughing because I had so much fun! The dinosaurs are large and very life-like. I know what to expect though because I have been on many, many times. For a first timer I can understand how scary it would be.

It is terrifying.

I ride everything else at WDW, but I DO NOT like this ride. The dinosaur who tries to eat me is just too much for me.

Had to reply to this one, though my post says about the same as everyone else!

This ride is super fun...but the first timers on it have quite a surprise awaiting towards the end of the ride!

you will experience darkness, loud noises, and get bumped around a lot.
But this isn't the type of ride where you will be going in loops or super fast speeds.

Each car has a net in the front near your legs to keep your personal items from getting moved around or lost.

I highly recommend this attraction!
It's one of the 'scarier' rides-- but you know Disney isn't going to scare you to death. It's fun!

Okay - here's a different take. I hate roller coasters (even the goofy one in toon town). Won't ever find me on Tower of Terror either. I first rode the Indiana Jones ride in DL (which uses the same ride vehical) and literally thought I was going to fall out of the car and be the first person killed on this relatively new theme park ride. I was in the back seat on the outside, probably the most bumpy seat in the car. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: I never thought I'd EVER go again.

However, the next time I found myself at DL I was with a bunch of girlfriends and everyone wanted to go on. I told them about my fears and they convinced me to ride in the middle row, in the middle seat. I LOVED the ride after that. One of my favorites.

When I went to WDW a year or so later, I rode Dino and asked to be in the middle of the middle seat. The ride CM was great and put me there. I laughed and had the most fun all the way through the ride. My picture was one of those with the great bid surprised eyes, it was really cute - had to buy it.

So I guess the moral of the story is - I consider myself a big whimp and I loved Dino when I gave it a try. I just had to find the best place to ride

I'm with thesoldtrain - the photos are hilarious and they tell the whole story. When DS and I went on for the first time (he was 7) it's hard to tell in the photo whether my head is in his lap or his is in mine - kind of a toss up. If you go to the shop first, you'll see that every vehicle (I guess there are either 12 or 16 people in the car) has a different configuration of frightened people - Mom with the two kids' heads on her lap; Dad with Mom and a child's head on his lap; Mom and Dad on each other's laps with the kids having the time of their lives .... it's actually pretty amusing. As for me, after my maiden voyage, I've been perfectly content to hang out at the dig site with my DD who has no interest whatsoever in going on Dinosaur. As far as DS (now 11) is concerned, it's one of the best rides Disney has to offer.

Definitely don't put small children on the outside. I was on the outside holding onto my 7 yr. old DD for dear life. I thought she might fly out of the seat enough to smack her chin on something or someone. It was an extremely rough ride and yes loud. They really do get you with the biggest dinosaur I've ever felt. He, He!:rotfl:
