The Grand is being renovated right now.

Yes, it was mentioned in the BSM Meets thread back on January 12th. The reason is construction at the Grand Californian.

I am at the Grand Californian now, the pool area is completely closed due to refurbishment until May. Not sure if they have started on the rooms yet but that alone would probably cause them to change since pools are important to families. They are offering people to go to the Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier if you want to swim but again that would not be ideal for ABD.

ABD has made the decision to move Backstage Magic guests to the Disneyland Hotel permanently.

I am told that this "fits better within the storyline of the Backstage Magic Adventure...because of the Disneyland Hotel's history".

I like the Disneyland Hotel and agree that it fits the Disneyland history. Just need time to adjust to this change.

I moved our BSM ressie to a 2018 departure today, and both the website and our confirm indicate the Grand Californian. I guess they changed back since the renovations at the GC should be finished for the 2018 season.
