DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Gents, the weekend is upon us. Not sure what I'm going to do this weekend, but it's nice outside right now, so maybe a trip outside with the DD is in order. Either way I'm going to enjoy the weekend.

Mmmm That looks nice.

Good start to the day, put what I thought was a coffee in the Keurig, turned out to be hot chocolate.

Well that sucks.

Sat down and got comfortable only to have the batteries die in the remote.

man, you're battin' a 1000.

Morning, gents.

Okay, Mother Nature. Just... stop.
Two days ago -2C/28F and snowing.
Yesterday 20C/68F and was on the bike.
Today -4C/25F (high forecast of 4C/39F... low -11C/12F)

She seriously does. It's been cool, dare I say cold, the last couple of days. I'm ready for shorts and short sleeve shirt weather.

Morning Men,
From snowy Montana. Been busy getting the farm ready to leave it for a week. Going to leave tonight at midnight for California for the funeral. We are driving since last minute tickets would of costs us almost $3k. Going to stop in Vegas tomorrow afternoon so the boys can enjoy the sunshine and a swimming pool and then on to Orange County on Sunday. Going to be staying right next to the MotherLand (Disneyland) till Friday. We leave the morning DL reopens which will be fun to see. We would try and go to DL but they are only letting residents in. Other than that same old same old. Hope you all are doing good!

Safe travels, my friend.

Happy Friday. So glad the week is over. I got the May calendar at work, and I'm working 75% of the month. Apparently, I can get all hours I want.

Is that good or bad?

HS tennis match today and another win for youngest dd.

Congrats to your DD.

Morning gents, happy weekend.

I was at my dad’s for his 75th birthday last night. He finished painting his living room this week and went canoeing Thursday. I can only hope to be in as good condition at the three-quarter century mark.

That seems like it went...unusually fast.
It has gone very fast. Time seems to move faster every year.

Morning, folks.

She seriously does. It's been cool, dare I say cold, the last couple of days. I'm ready for shorts and short sleeve shirt weather.
Woke up this morning to 17 degrees. High of 45 though today.
Gotta say... I'm getting tired of putting my bike away for winter every other day.

Happy 3/4 century birthday to your dad!

Not bad! Pretty impressive. :)

Afternoon guys from a sunny London. Marinated some lamb shoulder last night,so that's just popped in the wood oven with some baby potatoes underneath to catch all that good fat.
now watching it cook with a Sierra nevada.

Going to leave tonight at midnight for California for the funeral
Hope it goes as well as those things do

That is an abomination and against the law in KY. There is only deep fat fried chicken allowed here.
As it should be. Steamed chicken should always be served with a side of skirt so you can twirl home.

Not sure I remember seeing a beard on Jessica Simpson in the Dukes of Hazzard re-release movie.
I think my eyeline was a bit lower than her chin, if I'm honest bud.

Happy birthday to TNG snr, and welcome back my friend.

Has Darcy surfaced from the food and wine extravaganza yet?

That's quite the swing in temps. Hate to say that it's a comfortable 70F here on the Cape. Just got done raking leaves, with the help of a certain little DD of mine....didn't last very long, she went back to playing.

That sounds yummy.

Sure, rub it in. #TWSS.

I'm waiting for a bit nicer day to do that. Have two adult DDs living at home. Can expect no help from either, so you're ahead.

It's been another long day. Round trip to Louisville to visit my dad. Picked up a banana cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory and fed it to him like banana pudding. He really liked it. My mom still won't give him enough meds though.

Is that good or bad?

Bad. I wanted to go PRN . I was thinking I'd get 2 days a week. Not 5.

I don't think I'm in that good shape now.

Funny. Mine too.

Vegas Baby!! Made it to our first stop for the night. 12 hours, 900 miles. No major 4 or 3 year old melt downs. Parent win!
Long drive. And with little ones... I'm impressed that they were that good, that long.

Sorry. Not easy.

Evening All.

So they wouldn't let me in wearing jean shorts and a wife beater so I had to dress up a bit. Great evening with DW and a couple of friends. Great food and I must say more alcohol than I've had in a long time.

Here is the only picture I have from last night. Not sure why that is posting sideways.

Unacceptable.

How was the beef tenderloin?
The magic of iPads with lots of educational games and Disney+. I would of really loved car rides when I was a kid.
::yes::

Did a 12 hour drive with my 4 & 8 year olds. We had a portable TV with a VCR. Thank God.

Same here. Although one is still a teenager, which is perhaps even worse.

Nice that he was able to enjoy the cheesecake. Sorry that you are going through that.

Great food and I must say more alcohol than I've had in a long time.
Looks good. Especially the beef tenderloin and ravioli. Although if I'm being honest, it strays a bit far from my tried and true "meat and potatoes" diet since there appears to be green things on that menu.

I think I've seen or heard of the Algonquin resort before. Something tells me it's been in a couple "Anne of Green Gables" type movies/shows.

Morning All.

Got my first dose of the Astra Zenica vaccine yesterday, so far no side effects. I have started to develop some spidey sense though.

Unacceptable.

Don't know, went with the halibut and it was great.

Certainly wasn't my typical fare either but it was a cool experience.

I don't recall the Algonquin being used in any movies but then again, not a Anne fan.

Gents! How we doin' today? Good I hope. Got some yard work done by raking the leaves in the back. I then ran to Best Buy and Geek Squad to have the look at my DW's computer. A few days ago here computer's fan started making all kinds of noise. They're going to have to send it out to have it look and get fixed, which's not looking forward to, but it's going to have to get it done at some point. I also looked at home printer/scanners as well. Ours no longer connects to the WiFi and we need one, so if anyone has any recommendations I'd appreciate I'd appreciate it if you could drop off a recommendation or two.

Raining here today, so I can see an inspection of the inside of my eyelids in my future today.

Sure, rub it in. #TWSS.

:thumbsup2:teeth:

I didn't want to do it, but it needed to be done, and it does look good. Besides, I passed over a couple of nice weekends and couldn't pass over another one.

Nice! And congrats on not having any melt downs.

Not easy, man. You're a great man for not only visiting, but helping out like that.

Bad. I wanted to go PRN . I was thinking I'd get 2 days a week. Not 5.

I didn't think about that. I, for some reason, was thinking that was cutting back. So my bad.

So they wouldn't let me in wearing jean shorts and a wife beater so I had to dress up a bit.

What?! They wouldn't? That's wrong!

Great evening with DW and a couple of friends. Great food and I must say more alcohol than I've had in a long time.

Glad you had a good time, though, even without the jeans and wife beaters on.

The magic of iPads with lots of educational games and Disney+. I would of really loved car rides when I was a kid.

Wish I had something like that when I was a kid. All I had was, well....nothing. Oh, stimulating conversation with my DF.

Did a 12 hour drive with my 4 & 8 year olds. We had a portable TV with a VCR. Thank God.

My DD can't watch/read too much in the car of she'll get sick, so we play various car games.

Wait’ll you start shooting webs out of your wrists! Or butt. It’s one of those.
Don't know, went with the halibut and it was great.
I was thinking ā€œNo way he’s going with fish.ā€

Was worried about that, but TV was distracting enough. Youngest gets sick.

Hope all are having a great weekend. As those that check the other place we banter, been on the emotional roller coaster this weekend. Headed out yesterday to attend DS graduating with honors and before heading out on the drive DD contacts me that she is having a scan done due to pains she having and the results look like gallstones. Then upon checking in at hotel we learn Docs want to remove her gallbladder. At the exact start of DS ceremony we get message from SIL that DS went into surgery. As we are leaving arena SIL calls that procedure went goo, DS is good and waiting on labor and delivery teams to evaluate the baby. While celebrating. Graduation with some champagne before dinner get the call the baby and mom are all good. DS went home this afternoon with everyone good considering, DS graduated with honors and my heart is out of my throat and stomach has stopped the cartwheels. Hug the family and don’t forget Bacon, Bourbon, Cigars and Mickey Bars!
