DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Headed out yesterday to attend DS graduating with honors
Congrats to DS. :)
At the exact start of DS ceremony we get message from SIL that DS went into surgery.
Oh, man. (And know you meant "DD")
get the call the baby and mom are all good.
Good! And... I am close to someone who had their gall bladder out years ago. Hasn't really changed their life at all.
You know your dating yourself / us with this reference
What can I say. I'm old.

Hope all are having a great weekend. As those that check the other place we banter, been on the emotional roller coaster this weekend. Headed out yesterday to attend DS graduating with honors and before heading out on the drive DD contacts me that she is having a scan done due to pains she having and the results look like gallstones. Then upon checking in at hotel we learn Docs want to remove her gallbladder. At the exact start of DS ceremony we get message from SIL that DS went into surgery. As we are leaving arena SIL calls that procedure went goo, DS is good and waiting on labor and delivery teams to evaluate the baby. While celebrating. Graduation with some champagne before dinner get the call the baby and mom are all good. DS went home this afternoon with everyone good considering, DS graduated with honors and my heart is out of my throat and stomach has stopped the cartwheels. Hug the family and don’t forget Bacon, Bourbon, Cigars and Mickey Bars!

Great news and congratulations all around!!

Been a nice Sunday to relax. Went to Church and played tennis. Not ready to go back to work.

Sounds like a day to remember.

Well that weekend went around fast, everyone is backdating their entertaining, I think we are booked up for the next 6 weekends or so with people to see. Looks like we got a little bit of encouragement that the Halloween trip to Da World is gonna come off, and I might book my flights this week for DDCC, before the official announcement comes o

The magic of iPads with lots of educational games and Disney+. I would of really loved car rides when I was a kid.
This.

Ah, thats great news mate, you must be super relieved. What's the boy gonna do now? (Apart from "Go to Disneyland")
Picked up a banana cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory and fed it to him like banana pudding. He really liked it. My mom still won't give him enough meds though.
Thoughts for you buddy, nice job on the cheesecake.

Have a great day y'all

Morning, gents.

Bit chilly today, but might take the bike to work. We'll see how I feel. Didn't take it last two days because of either cold or wet. Or both.

I think we are booked up for the next 6 weekends or so with people to see.
That sounds great. Saw a headline saying the UK is out of the pandemic (although still endemic). Hoping that will hold true for more countries soon, moving forward.

Some nutbar is going across country here, with an anti-mask rally. A few hundred rallied with him here yesterday. I presume all those people will decline the vaccine, not shop in any stores or visit any restaurants and also decline medical care in the event they require it.
I would love to see a hospital admit someone in respiratory distress and for this to happen:
"Quick! This man is suffocating! He needs oxygen and possibly a ventilator! He's tested positive for Covid."
"But doctor! He's an anti-masker!"
"Oh. Right. Well, that's the same as a DNR. He can be discharged. Sir? Can you hear me? You can leave. Try not to die on our front steps, would you? Thanks.... Next!"

Happy Monday everyone!

Spent the weekend replacing a garage door opener that had crapped out on us. I don't know what I'm more proud of, that I got it up and running or that I was able to re-use enough of the old system that I didn't have to run out to the store for more parts.

It's been another long day. Round trip to Louisville to visit my dad. Picked up a banana cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory and fed it to him like banana pudding. He really liked it. My mom still won't give him enough meds though.

I'm sure he's glad you're there. Good that you can give him some things to enjoy these days.

Did a 12 hour drive with my 4 & 8 year olds. We had a portable TV with a VCR. Thank God.

I remember trying to find the perfect setup for the little DVD player so the power cord could reach the cigarette lighter and the kids could all see the screen. It was an adventure.

DD contacts me that she is having a scan done due to pains she having and the results look like gallstones. Then upon checking in at hotel we learn Docs want to remove her gallbladder.

Yikes. Hope everything goes ok for her.

Congrats to DS on the graduation. Glad to hear mom and baby are doing ok. What a weekend!

I hope it works out for you. As much as I would like to go, I just don’t know when I’ll be able to book anything. DDCC would be a great way to get back into travelling.

I tip my hat to you on both. I’m not handy enough for it.

We strapped ours in our van between the front seat headrests and was able to plug in in center console. One kid sitting behind me and other two in back seat. All could see fine. I used to scoff at people with entertainment systems in their vehicles.....until after that trip. Realized how much more peaceful the trip was and next van had infotainment system.

It would be great if you could. Guess I'll have to break down and get another AP before January. If not, maybe a 7 or 10 day pass. OTOH, I think the 7/10 day is about same price as AP.

Yeah... I don't think I scoffed... but I didn't think I'd need it. Might not have (they're both pretty good travelers), but it sure was nice and quiet.

Thanks all for the well wishes, thoughts, prayers and positive vibes this weekend. DD went home last night and is doing well and so is baby. She has follow-up tomorrow with the obi-groiny. The boy also says thanks for the well wishes as does the Mrs.

Well finals are not until May 7 so they all have that to still wrap up. Then they all have to intern over the summer and keep a log of learnings and experiences before the school gives them their actual paper diploma - money grab in my book as it's consider a class and had to pay fees. If you know of anything interning for LEGO let me know :-) And yes, he will be at WDW beginning May 14

Nice work, loved the video you posted after DW finished the work :rotfl:

If only we provided that same logic to ...

2 masks are better than 1, so no care for the single mask wearers.

Those wearing bandanas and buffs (neck gaiters). A study said they don't work which is why Disney doesn't permit them in their park.

Those that wear it under the nose.

Those who touch the front of their masks all the time with their hands (which is most everyone).

Wow! It's shocking all of those predictions were wrong and any of those masks ever worked. :rolleyes1

Then, we could apply that to patients with diabetes, obesity, smokers, alcoholism, and drug overdose. I'm thinking we could even include work injuries and car accidents. My patient workload would dramatically decrease. ::yes::

Happy Monday everyone!

Saw that on FB. Good job. It's almost like you're an engineer or something.

Sorry. Don't feel like rising to the bait.

I would love to see that.

Hey, Gents! Well, the DW and I had too many things to scan to wait for recommendations from our many sources, so I went out and bought a new printer/scanner Sunday afternoon. Wound up with another HP, which the last one worked well enough for us, so we stayed with HP. Work is going well, as is the family, so nothing new there. Oh, the DW and I were talking about our future trip to the World. The DW pointed out that before we go the World, we had to take a trip to New Mexico to visit my parental units. Knowing she was right, aren't wives always right(?), I still had to press the need/want to go to the World before the parental unit trip, but I lost. She didn't, however, say how long we had to be in New Mex., so a short trip? :teeth: I know, I know, I need to make it long enough to count. So I'll be planning a trip to New Mex first. Gives me something else to plan. It has been a while since I've seen the family. Well, that's it. Have a good day, gents.

TTFN

Was worried about that, but TV was distracting enough. Youngest gets sick.

Good to hear that all are well. And congrats to your DS.

I am impressed. I had my DBiL help me with mine.

It'll be interesting when we visit New Mex as we'll have a 200 mile trip from Albuquerque to Roswell. My guess is my DD will use her tablet for part of the trip, but we'll wind up playing trip games.

Should be fine. I have a HP scanner/printer and haven't had any problems. It's at least 10 years old now.

You lost....
This may be the first time in recorded history that a man has lost an argument/discussion with his wife.

I may have that backwards.
Remember to turn left. Don't listen to Daffy.
:lmao:

I tip my hat to you on both. I’m not handy enough for it.

It wasn't too bad. Kind of like cooking; all you have to do is follow the directions.

There are so many things like that where we said, "when we have kids, we're not going to do X, Y, or Z"...and then we had kids and did X, Y and Z multiple times.

Nice work, loved the video you posted after DW finished the work

I may not be able to do much, but I can always find a ridiculously over-the-top music choice for a home movie.

Saw that on FB. Good job. It's almost like you're an engineer or something.

I'm in middle management now. Stuff like this is the only real engineering I get to do.

Saw the celebration video and the pre-post. I noticed that there were no videos of you doing the actual work. ;)

The important thing is, the garage door works now. Let's keep our eyes on the ball here.

I am impressed. I had my DBiL help me with mine.

Thanks. I'm hoping I can go back to occupying the couch now.
