Ok, so I got done 10 minutes ago, as I'm typing this, that would make a 2 hour interview between 3 people. Over all, it all went well. The first guy walked in and said, "I already know you, so this is going to be short." turns out it wasn't short. We had a good conversation and as such we went right to the half-hour. The next guy was also a good conversation, except he asked me about my medical coding. I told him it was something that if I did pursue would take me years because it's something that's hard to get into. Even my supervisor was a good conversation. He understood that at 50 I don't want to be slinging heavy stuff around for long, so he understood me wanting to complete my coding course/certification. He just doesn't want me to leave after a few months.

I get that and it's a valid concern. I didn't know that they knew that. It does put you at a bit of a disadvantage. Good answer about it taking a long time. Hopefully that'll sway them.

That is a good indication. In general, the longer the interview, the better it went. If they think you're a bozo, they're going to get you out the door quickly.

As for the question about coding, I can only presume you mentioned that to them at some point. You could have said it was something you'd like to do part time at home after your normal job. Not necessarily a lie...you could do that with the idea of it becoming a full time gig, but they don't need to know THAT.

My supervisor, who said this, knew my 50th birthday was in March, and said that because of my medical coding course. He understands that the job of being in the warehouse will get harder as I get older, it's hard on him and he's older than me, and he just doesn't want me to leave after a few months. Though truth be told, if I'm contacted by a medical group to work in their billing department, I'd take it as that's a great way to get into the coding field. I wouldn't leave after a month or two, that'd be crazy, but I'd give them a year.

Yes, I would agree. But I do know that the other people they've interviewed have a lot more years of experience in the position that I do, so I don't have this in the bag. That's the one thing my boss has been upfront with about, and I appreciate it.

I actually gave them the wrong resume, which was an idiotic move on my part. I meant to give them the resume that didn't have that on it. Either way, I did talk to my boss about it some time back, before there was a position to apply for, so yes, he already knew about it. And honestly, I was ok with the fact they knew. I'm allowed to pursue other things and if sways them, then fine...I'll look else where. I told my boss that just because I have a music degree doesn't mean I'm going to go off and start singing with the Metropolitan Opera next year...I just happen to have a degree in music but do nothing with it. And I never thought of saying I wanted to do it part-time at home...something I'll have to remember for the next time.

The weather cleared this afternoon so I was able to run my 5k in comfortable weather. Not sure what tomorrow will bring.

Our province announced this afternoon that we are moving to stage 2 (orange) of our recovery plan. That means we are allowed to reopen the office as long as we have an operational plan to minimize the risk. My goal is to have the office open again by Wednesday, so that means DW and the cat will have the dinning room to themselves.

Nice. I did 3.5 today (with only two 10 minute running periods) so am happy with my progress.

Happy Friday. It's not really happy. But, it's another day closer to when the election is over to eliminate all the restrictions.

This will be over at some point and people will have to adapt. I am at higher risk than some, but I refuse to live in fear. It isn't like I am suddenly surprised by the fact that I am mortal. You can't stop the world as they have done and not expect serious consequences.

Can't like this enough. We took precautions. Time to open it back up.
