Top 3 ideas to replace Dinocarnival in AK. Has to be Disney IP and tie to the theme of AK and nature / animals so put on you Imagineer hats

For the record, top 5 for next visit

  1. Greeted with "welcome home" when getting to resort
  2. Stopping to sit or stand and just take some things in for a minute (Main St, BoardWalk, Tree of Life, Rose & Crown, Spaceship Earth, Batuu, AK Africa and Dawa)
  3. See the stress removed from DW & DS
  4. Disney Cast Members
  5. Seeing some of the DISdads and their families that are planning on being there at the same time
*Missing DW and SIL as they will not be able to do this trip after having to cancel our family June trip & cruise (not looking forward to this but will be top of mind)

5 things looking forward to:
Seeing Cinderella's Castle at MK
A boat ride over the water bridge
Snacks - Churros, Dole Whip, etc.
11 Days with APs
Wild Africa Trek

If it ain't all cancelled.

Sorry to hear it. You think they would try to make it easier for a quote, but try the old bait n switch when you go to buy. Thankfully, that just sounds like normal incompetence as opposed to COVID influenced incompetence.

Government: Wear a mask. It protects you.
People: Can we re-open small business, wear masks, and get back to work.
Government: No masks don't protect you.
Thanks for the shout out to DD and nice list - Our dates are now arrive Wed July 29 depart Friday Aug 7
Thanks to all you folks that have family serving in the medical field. Mom was a surgical nurse for 30+ years. I'm glad someone can do it but it isn't for me.

Just covered the tomato plants and am hoping that I didn't need to. Not the latest frost date on record here but getting close.

TTA People Mover
Slowing down
Dinner at Trails End or Boma
Country Bear Jamboree
and for all you haters out there...
IASW :rotfl2:
Record lows could hit here in Nashville over the weekend - WTH? Love the "slowing down" on your list
I think we have one more in us. And then the retirement move to Charleston.
What's the Charleston driver? Did I miss this somewhere in the past?

To be honest, I don't think I would. It keeps many of the smaller kids in an area they like, so I just avoid it. Same as with the fantasyland area in MK.

And to be fair, there are other areas of AK that have nothing to do with nature/animals. Pandora? EE? Okay, I guess it could be argued Pandora because of Ikrans or EE because of the Yeti, but I don't consider them nature or animal themed. What I always found quite puzzling about AK is you have Asia and Africa, but none of the other continents. No Europe, no N or S America, no Australia. I guess blizzard beach is the fill in for Antarctica. :lmao:

With all that said, I would make an Australia area. Could have landscaping/theming similar to BTMRR and spiders, snakes, roos. They could have folks dressed up like Aborigines (like they have folks in African garb) or like crocodile Dundee (or both). As for rides, they could have something with surfing or maybe even an aquarium with the great barrier reef.

So I got signed up to the Marathon this afternoon, so I'm coming whether you want me or not.

What do you do, and who do you work for?
Mostly BS for a living. And as a recreational activity. As a sideline I sell sandwiches in a Bus Station in Toledo. They are a bit curly at the sides, but the Tuna is only 3 or 4 weeks old.

Pride Rock (Move FOTLK)+ a new coaster, The Rampage of the Wildebeasts
Something around the Explorer Badge for Kids and the Jungles in Up (Maybe with a Tarzan coaster along running the vines/trees)
A Tropical rainforest version of living with the land, with Soarin over South America

I dont think so mate. we want a vacation home in the States for our retirement. we went to Charleston a fair few years ago, fell in love with it and went back a couple of years ago to see if we still felt the same, and we did, and to start to look at neighbourhoods, as it is here or Santa Monica, but thats another 3 hours. I bought my Mums house about 10 years ago to fund it. The missus is signed up. Its now about logistics. We don't want to permanently move to the States as I would miss London too much, we need to keep a base here. I love Florida, but I just want to be a little bit outside of it.

With ya on the gas Mikey, its super expensive at the minute. I generally used wood or charcoal anyway, but its a good plan B. On that point, I have a fillet over charcoal with my name on it. Check in later chaps.

Hope the job comes thru.

Can't go back on school. This NTI is a waste, but we get to keep all our federal money this way.

Thanks!

Keeping federal money is a good thing.

I survived the horror of moving across the room and back. Surprised the news hasn't picked up on it.

Sounds like me when I move across the room.

Thought so.

So... if they already have a qualified individual who actually wants the job... why have interviews at all?

That's what I want to know. I mean, it would make sense since I'm already doing the job.

Apparently I missed something.

Had a pretty cool conference call this morning (that's not a phrase you hear often) as we are setting up the experiences for the NY store. Its going to be a fun shop to be in, we are putting in some pretty cutting edge stuff, and another good one for the CV. I'll share some stuff with you guys when I can, if anyone is interested.

Sure, I'd love to see what you're planning. Your conference calls sound way more fun than mine.

I think we have one more in us. And then the retirement move to Charleston.

Charleston, nice city. My brother might actually be moving there soon if his company wins a contract.

Tomorrow will be an actual Friday/last day for me. That doesn't happen very often and won't again until July 3rd.

For a second, I read this like you didn't get another day off till July 3rd. And honestly, I wouldn't have been surprised if that was the case.

I've heard that. I think they could maybe spend just a little bit more... and tear it down.

I wouldn't shed any tears.

You know we are doing 3 other interviews but we've decided that you are the one getting the job. Let's spend the time talking about how things are going to work and what changes you think need to be made.

Best interview ever!

So... if they already have a qualified individual who actually wants the job... why have interviews at all?

To avoid discrimination lawsuits.

I don't know if I have 3 different ideas, but the one that pops immediately to mind is to bring back the Beastly Kingdom idea they scrapped originally. Dragons and other fantasy creatures would make for a lot of cool attractions.

Nice. I signed up for official DisneyHeckling group, so we can follow along in a golf cart drinking Dole Whip floats and hurling insults. Fun for everyone!

Just got word, my interview's tomorrow, don't know when yet, but it'll be tomorrow. I know I already do the job and I know this, but I hate interviews. I can talk to anyone, and I know this job, but in an interviews make me nervous. We'll see, and I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I'll have to give that some thought...

I kinda like the idea of an Amazon rainforest area. You've got Africa and Asia so why not another continent?
Put a coaster in there called The Anaconda.
Have aquariums/pools with South American fauna.
A show based either on UP (destination South America) or The Emperor's New Groove
You could have a kid's play area based on either of those.
South American food carts/quick service/table service (Anticuchos: Peruvian beef kebabs, Empanadas...)

Save the children! Hide the sheep!
Mostly BS for a living.

Maybe look at is as talking and not as an interview?

Funny you mention look at it as talking, because the HR manager told me who'll be interviewing me: My supervisor, the department lead, and the lead for another department....all of whom I get along with. In fact, the lead for the other dept., whom I consider a friend, has said on a number of occasions he doesn't know why they don't just hire me. His portion will go well. The dept. lead for my dept. is a bit more by the book, but I know he likes me and my work ethic and knows that I already know the system and dept. My supervisor? He obviously knows me and my work ethic, but he tends to swing which ever way the hire ups are going, so I'm not sure if he'll fight for me if the HR manager wants someone else. We'll see. I'm not overly concerned.

3 things.
That looks pretty good in your favour. Keep that in mind, relax and you'll do great. :)
"hire up"... typo or pun intended?
Good luck tomorrow!
Just got home from the hospital. My first treatment went well, took about 21/2 hrs. one down 5 to go.
Glad to hear it went well. Rock the next 5!
