Heh. Years ago, when I was still earning a paycheck, I had this conversation (with someone in sales and marketing):
Me: The specs for this game [pull-tab game, ie, gambling] say it should be 3,960 tickets, at $1 each. And have 2 prizes of $1000, 6 prizes of $500, and assorted $50, $10, and $5 prizes.
Sales: That is correct.
Me: I think that's going to be a problem.
Sales: Why?
Me: It has $3,960 in tickets sales, and gives out $6,000 or so in prizes.
Sales: So?
Me: It has $3,960 in tickets sales, and gives out $6,000 or so in prizes.
Sales: So? (repeat another couple of times)
Me: It gives out more in prizes than it takes in.
Sales: Huh? It takes in $3,960, and then gives out *grabs calculator* $6,000 in prizes. I guess it might need a little tweaking.
I think I took a long and early lunch that day.
