DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Good job everyone. If you are feeling discouraged or have a bad day just remember to make healthier choices in the future and keep on moving. Don't let it continue in a downward trend back to your old habits. :thumbsup2 :cool1: :woohoo: :cheer2: :bounce:

I'm down another two pounds, :woohoo: which brings me to a flat 200 pounds. Which was my first goal that I set back in January. :cool1: :cheer2: :woohoo:

I was really hoping it was going to be 3 pounds so my weight started with a 1 for the first time since junior high about 10 years ago that will come soon though. :thumbsup2

I'm just happy with the 2 pound loss as I only worked out 3 days this week, the worst since I restarted in the middle of July. I decided my body needed a break as I have been having abdominal pain and reflux and have tests next Tuesday to figure out what is going on. I also had a cat scan and a chest x-ray today as well.

:mickeyjum :tigger: :smickey: :rainbow: Congratulations!!!!

I'm so happy that you made your first goal. That is wonderful. I hope that your health issues are quickly resolved. It's good that you are sticking with healthy eating even if you can't exercise as much. Are any of your health issues the result of weight loss? I know that weight loss can be bad on the gall bladder.

You're not the first person who has said that to me. :sad2: I think it was Beth who said the same thing. I've sadly been wondering if that might be the case. :sad2: I won't know what is causing the issues probably until October 3rd. My upper GI and ultrasound are next Tuesday. Not even sure if it is my gall bladder, but that is my suspicion.

I'm trying not to let it get me down. :thumbsup2 I'm gonna keep on trying to maintain this healthy lifestyle while I deal with these issues. That's all I can do. I can only try my hardest and do the best I can.

Great job Becky & Deb..........you are doing super :thumbsup2 .

Becky good luck on the tests. I have had reflux for years & mine has gotten better as my weight has gone down.

Deb, my counselors just keep telling me that slow & steady wins the race. My leader has said you can add back in points for excercise but you don't have to & I haven't been adding extra food in. I am going to give it another few weeks & see how I do & then if things are still not budging I am going to ask to sit down with my leader & have her look at my Quiktrak etc to see if she can tell if I am doing something wrong. I don't think I am, I just think my body is very stubborn. :rotfl2:

I am feeling not quite as :furious: today & all of you & your kind words & pats on the back always help.

Have a great rest of the week & weekend everybody.

My first week I lost a little over 5lbs. It hasn't been too hard either. I have found all kinds of great low point snacks thanks to my neighbor and that has helped tremendously. The hardest part for me is the mornings as I normally get up around 5:30am and don't eat until 9:30am. I have been trying to eat breakfast with the girls and I think that will be a big help. I didn't get to walk a whole lot last week due to the weather but it's looking much better this week.

So here's to a great week everyone.

Wow Robyn!! That's great... :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Great job Robyn!

I did virtually no exercise last week since my last long-run :guilty: I think I did one of my 35-minute days, but that's about it! We have been doing pretty well with eating, though, so I suppose that's good!

Today, despite feeling like crap (maybe coming down with something, haven't slept much for a few days, etc) I told Kyle we absolutely had to stay on track with our long runs..... so we did 6 miles together this afternoon!

It was really disheartening at first, because it was HARD! By about mile 3 I felt awful. :guilty: I took it a bit slower than last week, but actually ended up running a larger percentage (only walked 0.7miles/6) so my overall pace average was 13:43mpm...... still better than my goal! :teeth:

But when I got done, I felt so overwhelmed and had such flu-like feelings that I literally cried (a bit emotional right now  ) :guilty: . But THEN, I realized that the reason I felt horrible was because I felt horrible going into it. In actuality, my legs didn't feel too bad. My heart wasn't pounding out of my chest, I caught my breath pretty quickly.... It was very encouraging, because it wasn't so much the running itself that made me feel that way! :teeth:

I hope you all are having a good start to your week! We ended up going to Arby's after showering, so that was sort of silly.... but it tasted great! Have a good evening... I'm off to watch the Steelers on MNF! :cheer2:

Jennifer... :cheer2: :cheer2: Hope you feel better. Your doing great with the exercise. Ands I lvoe Arby's. They have some good choices. And rewarding yourself is good.... :yay: :yay:

5.8 is awesome! I read your other post & just wanted to say I love the crystal light. The pink lemonade & strawberry kiwi are so refreshing & don't taste like diet. I try to have 100 oz of water a day but at least 16oz of that is crystal light.

Here's to another great week!

Thanks Anne Marie. Crystal Lite is really good.... :yay:

It is great to see how well everyone is doing. I can't believe all the new posts with weight loss. What a great motivation. Chris did start Weight Watchers today so hopefully it will make dinners a little easier around here. As most of you know, today is my birthday. You will never guess how I celebrated.................................I went to my first Karate class :rotfl2: I am the only adult woman doing it and I think 37 might be a little late to become a master, but I think that getting exercise and spending time with my kids will make it worth while. They started class with 2 sets of 30 crunches followed by 30 push ups, then 90 deep knee bends then 30 jumping jacks and man were they fast. Needless to say I did not complete each task, but did better than I expected. So at least I exercised once this week :thumbsup2 I have weigh in tomorrow so I'll see how I did.

I am normally a stress eater, but I guess that I was over stressed lately as I really haven't been hungry at all and have had to force myself to eat. I don't know how that will effect my week, but I guess I'll see.

Deb

I've been told karate will slim you down like no other sport. I wish I were able to do that. Right now I'm barely pedaling the bike.

Baby steps...

Hi everybody :wave2: .

Well, I am feeling a bit frustrated right now :furious: . I have been excercising 3 times a week & staying in my points range & still only lost 0.5lbs this week. It has been so slow lately........we talked about the tortiose & the hare tonight & how it is ok to be the tortoise because you still end up winning the race. I know it is good to loose it slow, but a 1/2lb a week is frustrating. I am still about a two pounds from loosing 40lbs total after 10 months. I know that is still good, but there are people all around me that have lost more in shorter time. Sorry for the vent yall :furious:. I am going to hang in there & just keep swimming :fish: because I am still loosing but just really slowly.

Everyone keep on going. :cheer2: Ya'll are all doing great.

Melanie. Muscle weights more than fat. Please don't get discouraged. When my weight started slowing I sabotagaed myself.. i figured I was being good and still not losing weight fast enough. No one expalined that fat is large and lite, whereas muscle is lean and heavy....

You are getting lean! :yay: :yay: :dance3:

Melanie, I'm still learning about Weight Watchers and found out tonight that if you exercise you need to eat additional points on those days. It seems stupid to me, but they tell me that you must eat the additional points or the exercise could actually make you gain weight :confused3 I haven't had time to look into it yet, but was wondering if you were doing this?

I lost an additional 2.4 lbs this week for a total of 4 lbs to date. Not bad in 2 weeks. Slow and steady, right?

Deb

YAy Deb. Your doing great!! :dance3:

At least you are doing something! That's so great!!!! And you have the best attitude! You are going to make it! No doubt about that!!!!

We went to our last car show today. I am happy to report that Chris and I stayed within our points!! We actually packed our lunch and ate what we brought. Colby did have some fair fries, but other than a few bites (which we counted) we stuck to it!!! I'm glad to have that hurdle out of the way.

Deb

Good job Deb.........events are hard to handle but it sounds like you did it perfectly. Keep going. :cool1:

So one of the people in the Biggest Loser challenge on the W.I.S.H board posted this and I thought I would share.

M&M's are really football fields. What does that mean? To find out walk with a 50 cent bag of M&M's out onto a football field. Open the bag, take out one little M&M at the back of the end zone. Eat this one little M&M!! It will last in your mouth for about 10 seconds. Start to walk off your M&M by striding across the football field all the way into the far end zone(120 yards).
Congratulations! you just burned off one M&M.
Now turn around and look back at the goal post. If you are willing to walk another football field, enjoy a second M&M. Just remember there are 53 to 55 of those sugar coated chocolates in that 50 cent bag.
This wasn't written to depress you, but, hopefully it will make you think the next time you pick something up that you should think twice about.
Are you willing to spend the time and energy to burn it off?
By the way, one peanut M&M equals two football fields.
Potato chips & Doritos equal 2 football fields each chip!
Chocolate chip cookies, depending on their size, equal 8-15 football fields.
A snicker bar equals 50 football fields.
Miller or Bud Lite equal 18 football fields.
If you chose a regular Miller or Bud - that equals 36 football fields.
A Big Mac, fries, and a shake are 240 football fields or five straight hours of walking.

I've gotten in this bad habit of eating real ice cream the past few days. I need to find myself some more Philly Swirl Splenda pops. They taste like the real ones and are only 10 calories a piece, so much better for me than the real stuff I have been eating. Tomorrow is a new day and I will make better choices than today. :thumbsup2

Good job to all of you who have had reccent loses. :cheer2: :cool1: :woohoo:

If you are struggling please don't feel discouraged by everyone's successes. When you are hungry, go for a walk, clean, journal, scrapbook, call a friend, come here and post. Just try not to reach for the food, if you do pick up some fruit, veggies, or something else healthy. Your body will thank you. :thumbsup2 You can do this I know you can. Just keep swimming. :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :cheer2:

Sounds like everyone is doing a great job..

:cheer2: Way to go!! :cheer2:

I am down another 1.6lbs. I knew this last week would be difficult, between 2 dinners out for my birthday and Chuck E. Cheese for a birthday party and then Rosh Hashanah Friday night. There were so many oppurntunities to blow the small progress I had made. One of my biggest things I've been able to do is to not eat to the point where I feel so full and miserable. I have also been under a ton of stress at home and normally will eat when I'm stressed but I haven't.

Keep up the good work gals! I'm proud of each of you and all the changes you have made and all that you have lost!! We can do this!!
