DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Well, I have been quite bad for a couple of months. I was down 25 pounds but gained 8 of them back. I am back up to 2 pepsi's a day and have not been drinking my water. I am recommitting to getting back down to 1 pepsi a day and drinking my water. It won't take me long to drop the pounds I've gained back if I just do that. I've still done really well with my eating habits except I need to make sure I'm eating breakfast and taking my vitamins. I also need to start exercising. Chuck needs to swim for his stiffness issues so I'm joining the community center with him so we can swim.

Vicki - Swimming sounds like it would be perfect for you and Chuck! Can you look into some water aerobics classes? I like those because they are low impact, but give you an incredible workout!

For all of you on WW: I was going through my mother's cookbooks last month, and came across an old cookbook from Weight Watcher's. If any of you would like it, I'd be happy to ship it to you. I've been through it, and copied down many of the recipes that will work with my new eating plan, and now the book is just taking up space in my house. If you want it, speak up! I'll send it to the first one who wants it, and the rest of you can fight it out amongst yourselves.

Speaking of I should find out how much and when water aerobics are at my local junior high school. They have a pool and offer community swimming lessons, swim team and water aerobics for adults.

Well Ladies, I am joining in. I have joined Weight Watchers online and have been doing it for the week and so far so good. The great thing about WW for me is that my neighbor is on it and has been for a while so I have a wonderful resource right there. I really need to lose about 50lbs (it's really should be more but I would be happy with that) and know that I can do it with you all behind me as well.

I have switched to Coke Zero, can't do diet soda or Crystal light because of the aspartame. I really need to up my intake of water and I know once I do that it will help tremendously. I think that my biggest problem is that I don't take the time to eat a real meal during the day, because of my schedule with the kids, I more or less snack all day. I have been walking Emma to school in the morning and trying to fit in an evening walk, about 2 miles, with a girlfriend at least 2x week. I think with it getting dark earlier I will have to use the elliptical that is sitting in my bedroom for a few months now.

So here I am.

Robyn,

I am in the same boat..I have about 50lbs to go so I hear ya!!!!!

This was my first weigh in for WW's (no mtgs) & I lost 7 lbs! Thats only 1st week water weight but hey, I'll take it!

Starting weight 9/8/06 213
Today's Weight 9/14/06 206

The week has been so busy with school activities & such that I wasn't really thinking about food...well, I am always thinking about food :rotfl2: , but I just didn't have time to over indulge.
I AM wearing a bikini at the BC next August...o.k. maybe a gorgeous one peice with a sarong!

Good luck everyone!

It's been a while since I've posted on this thread. I can barely keep up with the DDA thread! I just wanted to pop in and give encouragement to the ones that have just started a weight loss program.

I know I've said this on the DDA thread, but I can't say it enough -- if you or one of your loved ones are significantly overweight, please do something to get healthier. My mom's whole health ordeal wouldn't be nearly as hard if she didn't have all the health problems from being so overweight. I've struggled with weight all of my life, but seeing what she's gone through has renewed my determination to make life member at WW.

Steffy -- you can do WW -- I know you can. Have you tried fat free chocolate pudding with some cool-whip? It's yummy, and what helped me when I first started WW. I also love quite a few of the WW desserts.

We used to swap WW recipes in class a lot. I'm going to try to find some of them and post them here. They are yummy and filling!

Deb -- congrats on your first week of WW. Wow -- weighing in jeans and with keys! I was never that brave!

Becky -- you are doing a great job -- keep it up!

Elin and Glynis -- you are true inspirations. WTG!

Clare -- sounds like a great plan! You do what makes you feel healthy!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Marci,

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, I can do it. I went to lunch today and put a piece of nuggat in my mouth and literally choked!!!

So, for right now, I guess I'm going to have to ignore my sweet tooth.... :thumbsup2

I'm down 5.8 pounds, so I'm :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: I think so long as I don't start eating substitutes, that the desire for sweets will wane. I am so happy with my food choices right now. I'm not denying myself anything except sugar and I don't want to start eating the WW candies or treats. I'm just going to cold turkey the sugar.

Well, I'm off to a crop. Type to you later....

And I sure hope your Mom feels better soon! :yay:

I'm sorry that you are having a bad night! I hope that things are looking up now! Stock up on some Crystal Light. It will really help soothe the sweet tooth, as well as helping you get your daily intake of water.

There are also some wonderful sugar free candies out there. Life Savers has some good ones, as well as Dove chocolates (I love the mint truffle), and Russell Stover!

Don't get discouraged. We all have bad days (and nights).

Thanks for the support Glynis!

I'm afraid of eating candy substitutes... I think it's best for me to just cold turkey the sugar..... I will overdose on the sugar-free candy, I know I will....

I do like the idea of the Crystal Light though.....

Again, thanks so much for the support.

I lost 5.8 pounds this week... :yay: :yay: :dance3:

Clare! 800 calories a week is significant!!! I hope you can get used to the taste, as it sounds like it would be very beneficial to you!

I think you are right to quit worrying about the weight. Toning up will help you fit into the clothes, and if not, then you get to do some more shopping. Just keep in mind our goal is "healthy", not "stick-thin". (I happen to think you are incredibly beautiful as you are :teeth: )

Ditto from me Clare! I lookede at your wedding photos and you are beautiful just the way you are.... :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

I like WW so far. I think you'll like it too! :goodvibes

I can't wait until I am able to walk again. Right now I'm doing the bicycle at the fitness center. I can't do the treadmill or inclines yet, but my ankle is getting better everyday!

You can do it!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Clare, I think you are SKINNY :cool1: I've seen the pictures too & you are great the way you are. If I could get that small I would do cartwheels & be beaming from ear to ear.
Welcome Steffy, Robyn & welcome back Anne Marie. Good job on the losses :thumbsup2 .
You have come to the right place. This group is great for support & a good place to come for comfort, suggestions etc.
Glynnis thanks for always being such a great :cheer2: .
I hope everyone has a great weekend.

As for me I will just keep :fish: swimming.

Hooray for the weight loss!!!!! That is fabulous!!!

I think you are right to stay away from substitutes for now. When you get a handle on your cravings, then you can try one. I'm the same way. I had to give up sugar completely for several months. Now I find that if I have to have a sweet, one of the sugar free candies will take care of the cravings for several days.

Jen. That's the way to keep a positive attitude Keep up the good work.

I have 1 wk of ww under my belt and I am happy to report a loss of 1.4 lbs. I am happy with that as I weighed in wearing jeans as opposed to the shorts I wore last week and I had my keys in my pocket :thumbsup2 Now I'll get Chris onboard and it will make life so much easier.

Deb

Congrats on the loss of 1.4 thats great for the first week!! Keep it up!

I think you have the right idea not denying yourself anything--at least thats what people always tell me :)

Well ladies, i weighed in this morning at 151.5..I weighed in at 157 at the end of August..my scale is always different than the one that i weigh in on at work..but i still think theres got to be some loss.

Joe (my brother) has said i can start using the treadmill again..my leg is still a bit sore, but he said just dont over do it and ice it right after for a few times to see how it feels. So tomorrow i will at least walk 20 minuts on the treadmil and do some of the other exercises as well
