Cvs deals 4/5-4/11

Okay, so the baby is sick... Coughing hard this morning, but I gave her something and sent her to preschool (it's only 3 hours) In an hour the teacher called and said she was coughing so hard she threw up. I went and got her and took her to the doctor. She has bad allergies and is already on Singulair. They said her allergies are really bad and that being congested has caused her ears to back up and get infected. Double ear infection, and they gave me Claratin to give her in the morning and to give the Singulair at night.


I went to get her scripts filled and neither of our insurances (her dads and mine) will pay for the Claratin, because it is over the counter now. When I went to pick it up, it was $8.99. (At CVS of course) Normally we don't pay for the kids meds, so I don't get the credit for the ECB, but I probably will for this one (as it was rang thru as a script)

Here's my dilemma.... I'm sure the generic Claratin is just a few dollars at Walmart.... I already bought for today (drive thru with three kids, in my pajamas) so she's good for a month. Would you move it next month & refill it using a transfer coupon (to get a $25 GC) or would you just go to Walmart and get it cheaper. Does anyone's children take it and know around what the cost of the liquid generic Claratin is?

I'm sorry your baby is not well...hope she feels better soon! Regarding the generic loratadine (medical name for claritin), a 4 oz bottle will cost you about $6-7, depending where you buy. walmart may be a little cheaper than that. if she's taking a teaspoon every day, then 4 oz will last you 24 days, less if she needs 2 tsp.
if this is something she will need for more than a month then maybe it's worth transferring the script....

Thanks! I knew some smart person here would know!

She's actually really little and is only takinng 1/2 a tsp. so her bottle will last longer. I buy it in pill form for $4 from Walmart, but that dose is too big for her.

Oooo so true. I love to donate a bunch of stuff when it gets too big. Although... I need bodywash..can you even believe that. Need it as cheap op as I can....Hmmm

I know what you mean. I am getting my third box ready to send to the military in Iraq this afternoon. It's full of CVS trail mix, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, gum, M & M's, baby wipes, mouthwash, notepads, pencils, hand sanitizer, body wash, playing cards, and paperback books. I love donating from my stockpile by doing this or donating it to the local foodshelves. I wanted to throw in a Paas egg coloring kit so bad!!

I get worried about LanaJae when she doesn't post for a while. I know she sometimes isn't feeling too great with her auto immune condition. Let's hope she checks in soon.

Last Sunday the frong page of our local paper was about a couponer. She wan't serious though. She told them she saved about $20 a week on groceries. I thought to myself that's silly I save $20 to $30 ev erytime I go to CVS. I was kinda glad they didn't even mention CVS, some of the store here get cleaned out before I can get to them, so I don't need more competition. Those scrubber sets, I only found 2 at each store I went to, it took me three trips to get all of mine as it was!

On a side note, thank you to everyone on this board for all of the hard work that you put into this! I am usually holding a baby or a kid and searching through forums so I don't post very often. It's tricky to type one-handed. I have saved hundreds of dollars so far easily! Thanks to LanaJae's easy explanations a few weeks ago I now get the concept of never spending more than $1 OOP! Last week it was .27 and would have been less but I grabbed the wrong paper towels. Best of all, DH is thrilled with all of the free stuff and is like a little kid going through the bags every time I come home.
