Coronado Springs Resort - New Unofficial FAQ Thread - November 2012

Hi everyone! I'm currently booked for August at CSR. I'm taking my mom for her first visit ever and she has a knee that can act up. I thought I saw on one of the sites that the Cabanas bus stop is pretty close to the buildings. Is this true? Does anyone know of a video of the walk from the bus stop to the hotel room (for any of the buildings)? I'd like to have an idea because obviously I've never been to Coronado before.

Thanks!
There used to be a resort walk-thru video, but not exactly what you want. If you request a room in Cabanas 8A or 8B, closest to the bus stop, and ground floor (let them know that there is a physical need), then you should have a flat and short walk on sidewalks to the bus stop. :)

Disney restaurants are notorious for being very helpful to those with food "issues" and allergies, etc. I would think that when you first arrive, tell your server about your concerns, and have them ask the cook staff. The chef would most likely come and and give you the low-down on exactly what they're cooking. (I've done this many times as I am allergic to tree-nuts.)

Then your DH could choose what to order once he knows.

.

I've heard about Disney being very accommodating for food allergies but I never thought to bring it up to the staff's attention since we never had any official diagnosis from a doctor. But I do suppose that DH does truly some type of allergy/intolerance, just because it's not official doesn't mean I can't bring it up before ordering. Thanks! :)

Stayed two nights in Cabanas 9B with business lounge last week as a pre-cruise stay. We were very impressed with the grounds, the lack of noise in this area, and the speed of the Wi-Fi.

The business lounge access and nearness to the main pool was the best part. We had breakfast in the lounge two mornings, but on one of them the amazing espresso machine was down. Sangrias, made by Cosaldo, were tasty with extra fruit. Evening snacks provided (terra chips!!) were above average and the breakfast offerings were great also. The mango yogurt was my favorite!

The only minor issue I had was the bus stop location. We had a rental car and drove it to MK our first morning and secured a very very close spot. In the afternoon, we decided to head back to the resort for some lounge/pool time and decided to leave the rental there and would take the bus back. We got off on stop 4, I believe and it was a bit of a walk to Cabanas 9B. I think stop 1, at El Centro, would actually be closer for this building. Can anyone confirm?

The shopping at El Centro was just ok. We went in looking for hoodies and found the merchandise offered to be very limited. We did not buy anything.

The Pepper Market was great as there was a lot to choose from. My wife and I enjoyed tacos and my DD11 had pizza. Tacos and pizza were above average.

We would definitely stay at CS again, but only if business class is available. The minimal charge upgrade to business class is definitely worth it for breakfast and evening snacks, and the short walk to the pool.

Hello everyone! I just booked a trip to CSR for me and my son (13) for June. I'd like to get opinions on which section we should request. I booked a standard room, and we'd like to be near the main pool (dig site?) and close to a bus stop. We'd also prefer to be on an upper level. Is there a certain section I should request for this? We're driving to Orlando, so we'll have a car with us. TIA! :)

We just booked for June too - and I am curious about the same thing - we are in a standard but DH just had a knee replacement so close to the main building would be helpful. Does anyone know which buildings have elevators?

We just booked for Memorial Day Weekend!:yay: This will be our 5th stay at CSR....my DS14's favorite resort! We like Cabanas 8A and 8B. It's near the Dig Site and a bus stop!

Busstop 1 is significantly closer to Cabanas 9B. If you are at the one end of 9B (end closest to El Centro) I think it is literally the closest you can be to a busstop anywhere on WDW property! :thumbsup2

Hi all! I have a question if anyone has experience w/ this and wants to share.....

We have a 2 night room only reservation followed by a 5 night package reservation. I called and linked the reservations as a continuing one in hopes that I will not have to switch rooms.

Has anyone experience this to where you did or didn't have to switch?

The only request I made was Cabanas section but stated that not switching rooms was my most important request. It is a standard view room (I wanted business class but only available the first 2 nights).

If anyone has any tips they would be appreciated :). I didn't know if they still accept faxes or if I needed to do or not do online checkin.

We have a flight that will be arriving @ 9 pm the first night.

I know there are now set routes, but for those who have used ME lately from the airport, what other resorts did you stop at on your way to Coronado? I know for pick up on the way back to the airport, All Stars have been a stop.

We used it in November and CSR was the first stop on the way to Disney, and the last stop on the way to the airport.

You've done everything you can to up your odds of not having to switch. POR and POFQ are the only resorts that still read and act on faxed requests. We have had this situation 4 times in the past and have only had to switch rooms once. You can still do online check in if you want, but I would skip the request section since you already made your requests.

Thanks! That's kind of what I figured but guess just needed some advice. If I was arriving earlier in the day I thought it would work out better with room assignment -if I was asking for changes but I am going to keep my fingers crossed. We stayed 2 nights in ranchos last year with a split stay and while it wasn't my favorite location I would take it over switching rooms if that's what it comes to :).

You're welcome. One bit of advice I forgot to mention is make sure you mention your 2nd stay when checking in. The CM will be able to tell if you will have the same room for your entire trip and then you can rectify it right there if they have you in 2 different rooms.

Hi! This is our first time staying here and I am so excited. The resort looks awesome, I have heard first hand from many people saying how beautiful it is!

We will be there in less than three weeks , and a couple of questions popped up in mind. One is the hours for Panchitos? Can't seem to dig it up, my son drinks milk like it is going out of style, but not sure if we will have a chance to swing out and get some. Is Panchitos open really early or late? Figure we can grab some there to keep in the frig.

And what are the advantages to online check-in? We hope to arrive around 1 - 1:30. If we find out they placed us somewhere we are not crazy about, not sure if online would keep us from trying to adjust our room location (not sure if that is possible during SB)? Last time we used online check in, it took forever for us to check in at the main desk anyway, so it seems it might be better to just wait until we get there? We are driving, so if it looks like we might be late and need to go straight to the park (FP+ reservations), we can just do our check in on our phones.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Anybody recently stay in business class? Wondering if Ainsley or Jc is still working in the lounge.

Hi All! Just booked a quick 3night stay at CSR BC for May1st-4th. I don't know what all is going on at Disney then but everything was booked solid! Hope it isn't too crowded.
We stayed at CSR last Aug and were not initially impressed. But I am willing and excited to give it another chance. I hope the grounds and buildings are alot cleaner now, compared to then. I joked last time that it had a Motel 6 vibe to the outside of the buildings. :rotfl2:

We won't have alot of time but will make the most of it. We plan to do some Flower & Garden touring and then basically walk around the parks (except AK which will probably skip this time) and do a whole lot of nothing in particular!! :cool1: Sounds fun right? lol
We did this last year at this time and my DH and I had a blast. Our kids (who aren't going-they are young adults) couldn't figure out how that would even be enjoyable. We didn't really plan anything at all...Just took off each morning with NO plans. It was soo relaxing and amazing.
Can't wait till May!!

PS..Glad to read that there is now a refill station in Pepper Market! At least I hope I read that right. ;)

ok, just got back from my first stay at coranado springs last week. Here is my official review.

We arrived at 10:30am and checked in right away. The CM asked if we wanted the room we requested at 4:00pm, or to be checked in now. We chose now, and were given a preferred lake view in Castitas #3.

This was directly opposite from the dig site. Either way we walked around the lake, it was the long way. But, we needed the exercise, so not BIG deal. It was not ideal, but we managed.

We were fairly close to the food court which we like a lot. We eat here even when not staying here.

The buses, DO NOT GO TO STOP #1. Its the last stop for every destination but Downtown Disney, its first then. We walked to stop #2 even though it was farther than stop #1, simply because the busses were always full by the time it got back around to stop #1. I cant tell you how many people in ECV's we saw get separated from their family at Stop #1 because there was no more room on the buss.

The business people, never noticed them. Not an issue.

Rix lounge, their upscale margaritas were terrible. They were just trying to hard to be something up scale and different. Just not good.

All in all we liked CSR, but I would choose POR French Quarter next time we need a Moderate.

Café Rix is where you'll want to go. They have refrigerators with drinks, yogurts, salads, etc.

We're going to Coronado resort next June, and we don't know anything about this, we're Spanish and is our first visit to WDW.
I'd like to know what's the best zone in this resort, above all near the bus stop, restaurants, I'm a little confused :confused3
We booked a king-bed room
Thank you.
