Coronado Springs Resort - New Unofficial FAQ Thread - November 2012

I'm seeing chatter about what the best hotel room area to stay at. For a couple, which should I request? Being near a bus stop would be nice. Obviously we are expecting children at all of them, but is there one that is typically quieter than the others?

The Ranchos area seems to be the least desirable, as it's the furthest section away from El Centro, but we found our building (Ranchos 7B) to be very quiet. It's close to bus stop #4 (which is actually the 3rd stop to be picked up/dropped off for most parks) and the main pool. We have never had any issues with the buses being full upon pick up, but we travel during September which tends to be a bit less crowded.

The Ranchos is the only section we have stayed in, so I can't compare it to the Cabanas or Casitas. But we found it to be a great location. :)

We have stayed in Cabanas twice and Casitas once. They were both very quiet. Our Cabana was closer to the Dig Site and Casitas closer to El Centro, but neither were far from anything. The only place I noticed noise was the Dig Site. We always get off the bus at El Centro and walk home, so I don't know much about the other bus stops.

I've found Casitas 4 and 5 to be very quiet, especially if you have a room on the 3rd or 4th floor. You can access bus stop #2 from those areas. The quiet pool there is fairly large and is adjacent to the fitness club, salon and laundry. Anywhere you stay at CSR has a bit of a walk to a bus stop. I've always found this areas to be very quiet and an easier walk to El Centro (as opposed to staying in the Ranchos)

We will be staying the first week of May. CSR has been our resort of choice the last few trips, we just love it :goodvibes

That being said I'm very worried about our trip this time. Our dates are 5/2-5/10, on a whim I thought I would check Disney's site to see what kind of rooms were still available. That was a mistake :faint: Going through all of the options, RO, Package, Special Offers-NOTHING is available. I understand that it's a convention resort, but oh my gosh how crowded is it going to be?

We have 2 rooms booked right now. This is my grandson's first trip, and my oldest DS's first trip back in over 12 years. I want it to be wonderful for them of course, but now I'm wondering if I've made the wrong resort choice. I checked the other mods and found rooms at those resorts, but I really don't want to switch I love my Coronado :worried:

Anyone ever been when it's at capacity?

For anyone that has done online check in recently-were the choices still Rancheros or Cabanas?! We are going mid May, right now we have Riverside booked but I am thinking about switching to CS because the last time we were there we loved it.
Thanks!

Yes, see my post on this thread from about a week ago. You can choose up to 2 of the choices between Ranchos, Cabanas, near transportation, ground floor, or upper floor.

I just checked in online, I arrive at CSR in 3 weeks! :cool1:

I'm not sure that online check-in was best for me. I wanted to request Casitas 4 or 5, or Ranchos 6A or 7A. Instead, I had to choose 2 of the following options: Ranchos area, Cabanas area, Near transportation, Ground floor, Upper floor. No Casitas area option, and no chance to type in a specific building. So I chose Ranchos area and upper floor. I know there's a large convention at CSR while I'm there, so I don't know if that's why Casitas wasn't an option, or if that's how it always is shown with online check-in. Anyone know?

So when I check in, I'll still request Casitas 4 or 5, then Ranchos 6A or 7A. But if I don't get one of those, I'm certainly not going to let it ruin my vacation. :beach:

Great info, thanks. I bet Casitas ARE full due to a convention. I'll be requesting exactly what you did. We love Ranchos, especially 7A! Our most recent visit, the girl at the front desk showed us our assigned room. I politely asked if I had any other options in room location and she very nicely showed me all the locations in Ranchos that I could choose from. I've always found the CMs at CSR very sweet and helpful! Hope you get a great room and have a great time! :goodvibes

Thank you! :) I'll be happy wherever they put me, truth be told - it's my first stay at CSR, so I'm up for trying anywhere.

I'll be there 2 weeks from tonight! :cool1:

Just switched to Coronado Springs from Pop Century and am so excited! The resort looks beautiful and the CM that I talked to when I made the switch was telling me how wonderful this resort is. There have been a few people on these boards who have helped me make the decision as well, so thank you! Now if August could just come a little sooner!

Now that I'm thinking about it a little harder, my guess is that the slide would only be running while there is a lifeguard on duty.

.

Thank you for posting the awesome pool pictures. I woke up to more snow today, so the nice pool and sunny skies you posted helped.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that maybe in May the lifeguard will be on duty for the slide to open at 10am? Will the only do the pool opening ceremony for the slide or the pool itself?

You're welcome! Sorry that I can't answer the pool opening question -- others can help -- I'm sure!

We also switched from Pop to Coronado. We will also be counting down the days to August.

Switched from POFQ to CSR today to get at least a tiny bit of a discount. Every little bit helps! We stayed in the Ranchos section last time, so I requested the Cabanas this time just for something different. We haven't been here since '05 and the kids don't remember it, so they're excited! :goodvibes

I've put in a request for Cabanas 8A. Fingers crossed!
What dates in August are people going? We will be there the 17th until the 29th :)

seriously- can a forty something non model more like shrek kinda woman logically use the slide?

(no alcohol will be needed for bravery)

or should I just schlep past?

:confused3

I don't want be the resort weirdo of the week.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but when can you request a room type? Is it 180 days, or closer to the vacation?
