Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- November 2009

I am trying to get a room Oct 2 through the 9th and there are no rooms available. I know there is a conference there at that time, because I am going to it, but I wanted a regular room rate on the chance of taking advantage of free dining.

Anyway, when will they release extra rooms?

We are going to CSR May 6- May 11. This is our first trip:banana:. We are NOT getting the Dining plan but will get the $500 GC which we plan to use for food. I have read a lot of these posts but it seems like most people have the dining plan. Can someone who did not have the DP let me know where they ate while at the resort? It will be & DH & 2 sons (7 & 4). We are not huge eaters but I know my husband will want to have at least one nice breakfast.. I am ok with cereral/bagel every day:)

Maybe it's just me, but Maya grill was not that great for breakfast. I did see that they changed the menu recently, so maybe this helped.

If you are looking for a nice breakfast one morning why not try one of the character breakfasts (my fav is cape may at the beach club)? There are lots to choose from and your kids might like it. If you don't want characters then Kona Cafe is yummy and the reviews for Kouzina for breakfast have been good too. Going to another resort is always fun, or having breakfast in the park is a nice start to the day.

We really liked the convenience and options at Pepper Market and Rix, just didn't enjoy Maya Grill. I'm not a fan of the DDP, just can't eat that much food and don't like to be tied to that many reservations, so you're not alone :)

Let me ask another question. I know that they only allow two people per king room. What are the chances that I can reserve a king and actually have two adults and two kids in the room. We don't mind sharing a king bed.

How often do you check to see if they open up rooms? Daily, weekly?

Daily:thumbsup2 You never know when they might unblock rooms or if another reservation gets canceled.

Are you calling or checking online? I would definitely try both options.

That I don't know.

But, last time I booked a King Room and was given two Queens instead :)

I know, not much help :)

One more question, and then I will stop. How long does it take to get between resorts. I can see there are openings at other hotels in the time I need. How long are the bus rides?

Buses do not go from resort to resort. You would have to take a bus to one of the parks and then grab the bus to the resort you want to go to. Or you could take a cab.

Or rent an economy car for the amount that you would spend in cab rides.

Kathy, great about your brother! A baby step is still a step!!!!:cheer2:

Thank you...I'll take lots of baby steps as long as they are in the right direction.

Highly unlikely. I believe you can have one child under 3 in a King room. However, if you get caught, you could be asked to leave. Personally, I wouldn't want that to happen.

That is such great news! God is good! You are still in my thoughts and prayers for as long as you need them.:hug::hug::goodvibes

Jenica

Thank you so much.

So happy to see he is taking a step in the right direction... even if it is just a baby step. Still thinking about you guys.

Thank you, Tim. One step at a time.

I have met the best people here on the DIS--your support humbles me.

For those of you who have been so generous with your prayers, we made a baby step today. My brother is off the sedation and the ventilator; he still has a breathing mask. They are taking him down for two procedures on his heart today and hopefully we will know more after those. The prayers are still needed...but as I said, we made a baby step today.

OMG Kathy! This is the first I am hearing of your brother, I am so sorry. I havent been on in awhile (you know life gets in the way sometimes). God Bless you and your family!:grouphug::grouphug:

Kathy, I'm so glad you got some good news. We will keep praying for him!

Yay for good news, no matter how small!

So how long would it take for me to grab a bus at all star movies, go to one of the parks, and then change buses to get to Coronado Springs? Half hour or less?

I can't answer that because DH and I rent a car and drive everywhere at Disney. It would depend on how long it takes to get from the All Star Movies to the Studios (using that park as an example) and then how long you'd have to wait for the bus to the CSR (I can tell you that the bus rides to the CSR from the parks is no more than twelve minutes from any of the parks).

Hi there!

Looking into CSR for a December family vacation. What are the Christmas decorations like at this time? Have pictures been posted?

Also, I just want to be clear, that all the rooms have been refurbished? Like the pictures in the first post of this thread? They look beautiful, the pictures on the Disney.go.com website, not as much! (OK, dumb question, but is this the resort that Sabrina The Teenage Witch was filmed at? Just flipped to a rerun a couple of weeks ago and the rooms looked similar. Again, I hope they've been updated!)

Is this resort difficult to get around? Huge? We stayed once at CBR and were not too thrilled with it.

Thanks so much!

Yes, ALL of the rooms look like the first page of this thread. If you go to the resort photo thread for the CSR you will find pictures of Christmas time. Can't answer about Sabrina the Teenage Witch as I never watched it.

The resort is large (part of its charm to us). It is not as large as the CBR because the CBR lake is bigger so there is more around it. It has never taken me more than 10 mintues to walk from one spot to another (my best friend stayed at the AKL and he said it took longer to get from his room to the pool there than it did from the main building at the CSR to the furthest building in the Ranchos section which is the furthest section from the main building at the CSR).
