Hello,
I’m looking to visit mid September for a few days and would like to stay at the Disneyland hotel to experience it.

Has anyone booked the standard room and ask for any upgrade and been lucky?

How’s the crowds in September? We usually go to Orlando during September after the school holidays and find some parks less crowded.

I’m considering driving via euro tunnel or flying into Paris and either using the train/disney shuttles or hiring a car so any comments on this would be appreciated

September is usually good as the kids go back to school. In France per 1st of September this year.

Two things to keep in mind: The Disney Music Festival ends on the 7th, so that could bring in some extra crowds of locals and AP holders who want to say goodbye to the festival.

On Friday, September 12, there will be an annual passholder party. This can mean increased crowds as of Thursday. However, the party is as of 9 in the Studios, so the evening in the Main Park should be good. And because the party goes on till 2am, this means that Saturday morning is also usually good. It is a gamble, you never know crowds, it could work out.

You can always ask for an upgrade, but as this is France, they probably ask you to pay the difference.

As for the drive/fly/train question, I think it is a very personal question and there is no right answer. I would probably fly, but I have friends who love driving.

Thanks for your reply.

I was planning to go on 10th, spend that afternoon getting to know the parks and explore, then have 2 full days to get in as many rides and shows in to leave on 13th, I know it’s Disney and even on September we noticed Orlando was never really quiet. Or my other thought was 15th September but online it slightly went up in price.

I wasn’t sure if they’d possibly do any upgrade deals but I guess it’s worth asking anyways.

I initially thought Eurostar but getting to London is 1hr 30 mins plus the journey and changes, so the. Thought driving would be great to leave early morning and take a nice drive with everything loaded with us. I know flying would be more direct with a train journey once landed. I don’t think the 3 hour drive would bother me too much, it can feel like it drags after half way though lol

The big drawback with driving from my perspective isn't getting there, it's coming back. As you say, it's about three hours once you're off the EuroTunnel, but that drive is full of excitement and anticipation of the holiday to come. On the way back, it's a slog - three hours to the tunnel, then wait, then cross, then another X hours from Folkestone to get back home doesn't sound so good when you realise the only thing to look forward to now is work the next day!

I guess it wouldn’t be great heading back home after the fun! I always hate coming home from holiday!
I’m still toying with the idea of what works best, think so far there’s £400 difference to drive and fly, euro tunnel being cheaper!
I think driving back to Calais wouldn’t bother me too much probably be when we’re back in the UK.lol
If I’m returning on a Saturday I’ll happily go back to work Tuesday to give me a couple days rest lol
