Fishing,accelerating modifying and MEP

Instead of it being used for a single ride to which you've committed in advance (like a Lightning Lane pass), you can use the Multi Experience Pass on any of the rides that it allows without a previous commitment. How you got the MEP determines on which ride you can use it (getting it due to Indiana Jones breaking down allows you to use it on most rides, whereas getting it due to Monsters Inc. breaking down will have a more limited selection).
Okay, thanks Piscus and SMM. I still think a name like "Experience Choice Pass" would be clearer than calling it a "Multi Experience Pass."

It is definitely disappointing, but you can usually move return times up on most rides by refreshing enough times and modifying.
I found that this is hit-or-miss, at both DL and WDW. Sometimes I was able to move a LL return time up by a few minutes or even an hour, sometimes not. Plus of course it means spending a bunch of time with your nose in your phone refreshing for a better time.

Yes, that is a serious negative of trying to modify times. I tried to do it when our kids were napping midday at the room. Otherwise, it does require lots of time on the phone.

Can someone show my a picture of specifically what page one would be refreshing from to try to get an earlier return time? Like, do you go to modify & just hit refresh there over and over? Earlier this summer I spent a couple weeks looking at the app & ride availability refreshing CONSTANTLY (and I was taking notes - I’m neurotically detail oriented) on the Tip Board page to try to learn about ride availability, break downs, etc, and I never saw LL return times move back in the day to earlier times.

You need to first book the LL for the offered return time. Then click on the LL and “modify” and then it will give you time options. If none are what you want, I think you just “pull down” on that screen to get other options (refresh) or you may have to back out and try to modify again. I’m not at the parks right now so I can’t test it (and I can’t remember the exact steps from our June trip). If you do see an earlier or later time when you “modify”, click it very quickly as it can get snapped up by someone else before you can click through the confirmation screens.

If you are just looking at the Tip Board, and refreshing, you are not “modifying”. You are simply refreshing the Tip board page to get an earlier time BEFORE you actually book a LL. Or you are trying to get a LL to become available for a ride where LL has sold out for the day (“ride unavailable”). Often a ride says “LL unavailable” on the Tip Board, but if you keep refreshing the Tip Board, a LL time will eventually pop up that you can book.

I recommend just booking the LL for the ride you want as soon as you are eligible to book your next LL. Then modify that LL for the time you want. Once you book a LL, that starts the 2 hour block out clock. If you don’t book the LL and spend a lot of time refreshing the Tip Board to get the time you want, your 2 hour lock out doesn’t start until you actually book the LL.

Thank you! I do understand, I think, how the system works - that just looking at the tip board isn't modifying - and some stuff will probably become clearer once I'm there. I was just a little incredulous as to how often people can actuall get earlier times - or any time if it says it's unavailable for the day because I'd never seen availability change like that in the weeks I was obnoxiously just looking at my phone all the time "checking out disneyland". But if it's something that for whatever reason is more likely to show up from the modify screen (which I've never seen as I haven't been yet), that would make me want to bother trying.

Can one modify a selection to another ride at the other park if you they have park hopper & it's after 11?

It will be easier to understand for sure once you are there. I did a little test today (from Dallas!) and was able to get some times to go earlier by refreshing the Tip Board (I can’t book a LL since I am not in the park). When we have been in the parks last summer, this summer and in October 2023, we ROUTINELY got LL times to pop up to book by refreshing the Tip Board when rides were saying “not currently offered” (ie LL are out for the day). Modifying works well but you have to sometimes spend a solid 5-10 minutes just refreshing, and some people don’t want to spend their trip like that (I do it while standing in lines).

There is a rumor that you can maybe modify to another park with the changes they just made to G+, but in my experience (we always have hoppers), you can NOT modify to a ride at the other park. You can modify the time of your currently booked ride, or modify to a different ride in the same park. Then you can modify that LL to a better time if needed.

One other tip: if at all possible, do not CANCEL a LL. Always modify it. This is because your 2 hour lock out starts when you book the LL (and can be shortened if you use the LL sooner than 2 hours from booking). If you modify the LL, the 2 hour block out time stays intact. If you cancel a LL, the 2 hour window restarts!! Here is a hypothetical example:

9am: book LL for BTMRR, return time is 2pm
9am: 2 hour lock out to book next LL starts at 9am and ends at 11am

10am: you decide you don’t want to ride BTMRR now; you MODIFY the BTMRR LL to MMRR, return time is 2pm-your lock out window still ends at 11am (and you can then book the next LL at 11am)

OR

10am: you CANCEL the BTMRR LL and then book a new LL for MMRR, return time 2pm-your lock out window RESETS to the time you booked this new LL, so now you are locked out from 10am-noon (and then you can book your next LL at noon).

Very useful information, thank you very much!

If you are a small party (1-2, or maybe even 3-4) it is SO easy to get earlier times. I used to ride Guardians like 5x in a row back in the maxpass+ days by refreshing. Just sit on the tip board at home and refresh constantly for a couple minutes straight and you'll see the return times change. It really only works if you are refreshing nonstop for a couple minutes and are fast to react, if you just refresh one or two times (like a regular person) you'll never see those cancelled slots show up because someone who is refreshing will have gotten them. Just now I refreshed about 5x in a row and saw Buzz appear half an hour earlier. I refreshed again and it was back to the later slot. Then I saw Indy pop up and then next refresh it was back to sold out. They go fast! But I have ALWAYS been able to get every single ride I want via refreshing. Without fail.

I don't really get it when people complain about being on their phones. I'd rather spend 5 minutes on a bench refreshing, than an extra 60+ minutes in line (on my phone) per ride :confused3

It's confusing when you're not actually doing it but pretty easy to do in practice. It's like trying to explain how to drive to someone who's never been behind the wheel :hyper:

I am, and have always been a serial refresher as well. I'm the type who refreshes for the next ride in the time between scanning in and boarding my current one so I can line up my times and make good use of my location. Or I'll do it as I'm walking to the attraction, hoping I'll get an earlier option by the time I arrive.

Having said that, while many rides are quick and easy, there are definitely times I've spent way over 5 minutes refreshing, so I get those who don't like feeling they're on their phones more as a result. Especially on crowded, more busier days, some rides just in general can be harder to get right away or at all, especially in DCA. (Looking at you, TSMM.) And there have even been occasions where I've spent an entire seated, quick service lunch trying to nab an earlier time, with no luck. (This is for a party of 2.) So while I still always recommend trying to modify times, it's definitely not always a given. But also definitely worth a try, especially provided someone is the type of person who likes the "game" of trying each time haha. Luckily I am and enjoy doing it (albeit even I have my limits if it's just not happening.)

This has not been my experience at all. Maybe about half the time, when refreshing, I can get the time slot moved up 30-60 minutes, but the rest of the time I'm unable to find an earlier slot.

We did EE today and on Tuesday. I was lucky to get an MEP from Indy both mornings shortly after 8am. The first day we didn’t even need to use the MEP but today we used it in DCA to ride GOTG.

Regarding accelerating, crowds right now are so manageable that I doubt I would even need or want to accelerate. It’s be lovely to stack a few LLMP for the evening.
