Concierge/Club Level Information - Part III (October 2010)

We have a CL standard room booked at the AKL in August with a request for a bunk room. Does anyone know if the bunk rooms at this level have a sofa/daybed in them? Also, what is the drawer space like in these rooms? From some pictures I've seen there is only two (2) drawers in the TV armoire. This might be kind of tight for a family of four (4) for seven (7) nights. If you have stayed in one of these rooms what was your opinion of the storage space. Thanks!:)

I was in a bunk bed CL room in January 2010. I didn't request it but it was a nice surprise. I had been in a regular queen/queen CL room in May 2009. It was nice to have the extra floor space. It was only DD & I celebrating her 7th birthday so I didn't have a problem with storage. There is no daybed. There are 2 smaller drawers behind the doors on the armoire. There is room next to the armoire to put a suitcase on one of those stands and you can request extra coat hangers from mousekeeping to put more things in the closet.

I really enjoyed AKL CL! Sure you'll have a magical trip there too!

We have stayed at AKL for 3 previous trips (this May will be our first CL stay :woohoo:!!!!!!) We are a family of 4 and have never found storage to be an issue for 6-7 nights. We used the armoire drawers as well as the space next to the armoire to put a suitcase. Last year we had 4 suitcases so I stuck mine in (and left it open all week) in the bottom of the closet. Worked out well. I know I'm talking about space in a regular savanna view room (not CL) but I can't imagine that the size of the room and the amount of storage is much different. On a side note, the rooms all come with a table and 2 chairs. You can ask a CM to have the table and/or chairs removed from your room for the week. We did this on our first 2 trips when we needed to have the extra room for a pack n play for DS. It really helped to have those taken out--it gave us a lot of extra space and we loved it!!!

I've also requested bunk beds for our CL room in May. I hope we get them--we've never had bb before and are keeping our fingers crossed that we get a room that has them! I will be doing a TR and posting pictures after our trip in May if you're interested....

Earlier today we finally got our welcome e-mail from the Boardwalk IPO Cast Members and in the subject line they wrote down the wrong arrival date. It says our reservation is from 8/14-8/31, when our reservation is actually from 8/17-8/31. Now to be on the safe side I checked our reservation online and it says the correct dates, so can I assume whoever sent the e-mail just put in the wrong arrival date? Also we are planning to e-mail them back letting them know about that mistake, so is it something they will correct once we tell them?

I had a similar issue with one of my emails from the BWI. It all worked out ok. I'm in the process of composing my thoughts on our stay last week and will post later.

Hi!:wave2:

I just thought I'd mention there is a mistake in the GF Club Level info in post #7. A new poster to the FAQ pointed it out.

In paragraph two, which starts, "The concierge lounge is on the fourth floor," there is a sentence near the end that says "NOTE: The Sugar Loaf Key building serves a different Twilight Refreshment service, with no wine or children's items offered." This is no longer the case; years ago, Sugar Loaf had a different food and beverage service, but that has changed. Now, Sugar Loaf and Royal Palm Club offer exactly the same food and drinks.

I'm not sure if the OP is still editing the front page, but thought someone would want to change the info.:flower3:

We are staying at the Poly CL for the first time in June and I am really nervous about this after reading all the negative reviews on the Poly CL, Has anybody been there recently that can give me some reviews?

hello, we are staying at portofino bay hotel at universal for the first time next month. I haven't been able to find much information about their club level services on the universal threads, so I'm wondering if anyone here has stayed there recently. We're particularly interested in knowing about the food offerings. We've stayed at Disney club level many times (AKL, GF, YC, etc) but this is the first time at universal so we're wondering how it compares.
any information will be much appreciated.:) Thank you.

We were there in Sept and will be there again this Sept. We loved CL at the Poly! Everyone was sooo nice, we enjoyed all the food and the perks of staying CL~ It was so nice to be able to get up every morning grab a latte and come back up to dress and then back down to breakfast. We would come back sometimes when we needed to cool off and rest from the parks and grab snacks and drinks out the lounge and take to the pool. We had a snack at the late afternoon offering to hold us over for dinner and every once in awhile we would make it in time for the evening desserts.

We also had a great experience with Poly CL this past Sept. Friendly CMs, plenty of food and drink, clean room/building. We would definitely do it again!

I know you are not supposed to tip the CL staff, however is it okay to send them a fruit basket or something prior to your arrival? They have already been so great and got me all the dining reservations I requested and I would like to thank them. If it is okay to send a gift any ideas as to what to send?

Just a note, they can't accept cash but they can take gift cards.

I am not sure if you knew this but the Cast Members helping you right now are the IPO Cast Members for your specifc resort, not the ones you will actually see in the lounge and etc.

Do you let IPO do your dining ressies or do you do them yourself? I have always done ours myself. I have only used them to book any other things like tours etc. I am wondering how great are they in getting your times? I have never been contacted by them without me contacting them 1st thruogh email-But, this time I got a bunch of papers in the mail to fill out & fax back. Our 180 day mark is coming up fast & can't decide. Please help with any suggestions. Thanks!!

I've done both and had success with both. If you are nervous, I would do it myself, but we were looking for ressies Jersey week and had no problem with IPO getting what we wanted within 30 minutes of my request time, and that included 'Ohana for a Wishes seating, Crown and Rose for an Illuminations seating, and the specialty tours for AKL CL.

I did a combo of both for my August trip. I had them make most of them but ended up moving one myself.

Thank you for your thoughts. If I were to let them do my ressies-when will I know if they got my times? I would like to know asap if my times were not gotten so that I am not trying on my own a week after my 180 day mark. Thanks!

They sent me an email the day after they made the reservations. By the way, if any of your ADRs need a credit card number, make sure you send the list and then call them (for the CC number) before your 180 day point.

How far ahead should you fax your ADRs? I received the form, but my 180 days is 3 weeks away. If I do it too early, will they put it aside? (Then there's a chance it will be misplaced.)
