NEW Disney Gift Card Deals and More.

Ive never received a coupon for BJs since I signed up about 8 months ago. I am always disappointed haha.
I’ve gotten the BJ’s coupon a few years ago but nothing recent. Every time someone here posts they got a coupon I check my account and have nothing,

I'm curious what everyone's overall gift card strategy is.

I know not everyone is DVC, so buying a lot of GC to pay for the entire vacation package makes sense. In that case, hit up every deal you can!

But as someone who is DVC, I have my lodging paid for. I do still stockpile GCs throughout the year and keep them saved in a spreadsheet, because I know I can use them towards my dues (roughly $1,200/year) or for Park tickets. I also will use them towards a Disney Cruise, but we are likely 2-3 years away from going on one of those (waiting for my kids to get to specific ages).

We also don't go frequently enough for APs and likely won't ever try the "do two trips in 11-months" thing and then take a year off from AP.

So really, my GCs are just to pay for dues and pay for park tickets. I might consider having some extra to use as spending cash in the parks, but personally I just like to spend on my credit card for dining and merchandise as that helps me from overspending on needless things (lol) whereas I feel the park tickets are a needed purchase worth "stockpiling" for.

I just counted and so far this year I've already stockpiled roughly $1,100 in gift cards. Our next trip isn't until March '26. I'll keep buying to account for my expected dues payment as well as the expected cost for the adults and kids for our next trip--but I'm also a sucker for a good day, and if I keeping seeing 10-15% off, I'll probably keep buying. Call it the Disney savings fund!

You also have to realize that you can get Disney tickets around 6% cheaper at places like Undercover Tourist than directly from Disney. So if you are only getting Disney gift cards at a 10% discount, it may not be worth the hassle. That is why I personally don't even consider Disney gift cards at anything less than 15% discount.

Obviously, for people who have dues or need to raise thousands of dollars, to them it might be worth it to settle for only a 10% discount.

How to you male it to 15% discount frequently?

My baseline is the 5% Target, and then I’m extra happy with the once (or twice) a year Sam’s 10%…. I stack up for DVC dues but I dont know the tricks to hit 10-15% more often…

Thanks in advance!

Mostly through Amex Offers...the key is to get every member of your family as an authorized user. For example, I was able to use the recent Lowe's amex offer for $50 off $200 on five different cards, that is 26% discount (25% + 1% the card gives you). I am right now using the Giant stores discount of 20% back, a 23% discount. (20% +3% the card gives you).

As I said, I made my mother, my father, my sister, and 2 of my nieces as authorized users so many of these offers I am able to get 5 or 6 times - that is the key. I also have the Shoprite Amex offer that gives 20% back and I wait for a week that Shoprite gives $10 off your next shopping order for buying a $50 gift card making it what I call around 35% off (I never consider $ off a shopping order full value).

What I haven't done, is properly track them... so they are sitting in a drawer, or in my inbox for e-gift cards.
That is bad. If your email is hacked your gift cards could get drained fast. Gift cards are one of the first thibgs email hackers look for, especially especially the smart ones who want to stay in your email for a while with you none the wiser. Download/print them and delete the emails.

My Excel spreadsheet has a tab for the year cards are bought with the following info when applicable: when, where, order number, card number, Ean, date transferred, location transferred to. Another tab is my “permanent”cards I get from Shop Disney and load up. I note the purchase info, original amounts, current value, date value was last checked and give then nicknames for reference in rhe yearly spreadsheets. I also have a retired sheet. After a trip I retire the cards and shred them but I have the info in case it’s needed (it hasn’t been but I’m paranoid). I note only Major purchases like deposits, resort payments, & LLs (total amount for what day, sometimes some gets sick and the refund will go back to the original card so you need to know).

You have to work for it and sometimes have the right luck of store mix. Read all the posts here for your best shot. Not worth it? That’s fine! Just check in when you can and maybe you’ll move that baseline up to 10%

Besides for downloading and printing them, make a word document and save the link address for the gift card before deleting them. If there is ever an issue in the future with the gift card from places like Target, you won't be able to do anything with customer service without the link address.

Also, instead of physically printing them, you can save them to a pdf if you want to save paper - however, if you do that you want to back them up to a flash drive at least once a week. DO NOT BACK THEM UP TO THE CLOUD. (If you have a decent antivirus/malware software, your chance of your computer getting hacked is probably a lot lower than your email.)

Newegg has the $50 zift zillions of gift cards (this one is redeemable for Amazon, Staples, Lowes, TopGolf, Smash Burger, P. F. Chang's, and Ulta Beauty) on sale for $42.50, or 15% off today only Limit 2.

Anyone who has followed my posts here know I have been very critical of zift as they don't guarantee the gift cards listed will actually be available when you redeem (unlike One4All); however, that is by the one that can be redeemed for hundreds of gift cards, this one that is for these specific merchants I believe is guaranteed that these merchants will be available. Also, there was an issue redeeming the zift cards according to doc around a week ago but that issue seems to have been resolved.

Would love to know what details to put in a spreadsheet. I don't see myself adding expenses in there to keep track of active balances as that seems like a lot of work after each trip when Disney will do it automatically, but open to suggestions!
On my spreadsheet I do:
dateMERCHANTFace ValuePAIDSavingsPymt Method

I have always seemed to get them - more than a few a year. Worth it with the discounted membership. Not sure I'd pay full price for membership JUST for Disney GC.

I ordered two. I got the email from New Egg with the gift cards within five minutes. I just clicked each link, selected $50 Amazon gift cards and they were emailed to me within minutes. The cards are now added successfully to my Amazon gift card balance. This worked great for me, would recommend. Thanks for sharing!

My baseline is 15% too. I don't have DVC dues, but we usually have a trip or cruise in the pipeline. I do a lot of stacking, CB portals (YMMV), CC offers/rewards. It's not as easy as the straight discount from target, but it depends on how much work you want to put in and what you are comfortable with. This group is fantastic for finding the extra %.

My baseline is 15% as well and I am firmly in the low effort camp. I wait for DGC to go on sale at Sam’s, BJ’s, etc. and for cash off coupons in the case of BJs. If the sale price and or/coupon results in a discount of at least 10%, I purchase using BOA CCR which gives cashback
of 5.25% for online purchases up to $2,500 per quarter. I can purchase $5-$6k of DGC this each year with minimal effort. YMMV.

I immediately transfer my balances so at that point the link and merchant lose all responsibility. However for those that don’t transfer balances keeping a copy of that link sounds vital.

I disagree with your computer feelings. I am og the opinion cloud backups are more secure than storing something on a hard drive or a flash drive. Hard drive and flash drive are subject to break in theft but more importantly subject to physical damage and hacking where as the cloud backup is only subject to hacking.

What would y'all say are the best credit cards for this? I have a Venture X, but it doesn't give me much gift card help.

Well you are still getting 2% back on top of any savings you would get through sales at the stores so it's not terrible and certainly better than a debit card.

A lot of us have multiple credit cards that have bonuses in certain categories where we can pick up GC like groceries and warehouse clubs for additional savings.

I use my VentureX as my catch all card for those that are not in a special category or when not working on a CC Signup bonus where you have to spend xx in so long.

I like the simplicity of cash rewards cards. BOA, Discover, Chase, and US Bank offer options to get at least 5% back in either rotating categories or a category you select.
