Celebrating my Un-Birthday Disney Style-April 2010-New 5/3 - The TR has started!

Amy, I really hope you are able to get some dates out of Jeff and Karen soon, I know how frustrating it is when your schedule is tied into that of others and they don't have the same sense of urgency that you do. Not speaking of Jeff and Karen of course, but of J&K's mom.

Our K may well miss out on Disney and we may not know one way or another until June! It makes me crazy. I need to do ADR's in 6 weeks, no way will we have different dates then so all I can hope is that IF we change our dates, what we want (all around) is actually available for whatever we move it to.

Now that I've caught up with your PTR I'm so sad that your K might miss out! :sad2: I hope you don't have to wait until June.

Hi Amy, I am caught up. The waiting would drive me crazy. I couldn't handle it if someone wouldn't figure out their plans. I hope they tell you soon.

Hopefully DMIL's need to book flights will help move things along more quickly. :confused3 Although even once they give us dates, I won't carve them in stone until they actually show up. :rolleyes1

"The place where the guy flips stuff into his hat." :lmao: Kids have the funniest ways of remembering things!

Glad you were able to switch your ADRs around without too much trouble. I hope MIL and Jeff and Karen are able to nail their plans down soon. Waiting on other people to make decisions can be frustrating. (At least for me.)

Zach seems to be an Epcot WS guy... he loves Teppan Edo and yesterday mentioned "snowcones" and "communicator missions". :thumbsup2

I am not a big fan of waiting for other people in order to move ahead, but I think you have the right idea in booking multiple ADRs and cancelling the ones you don't need...:thumbsup2 That's good planning!

I feel unsettled waiting for their plans, but I'm doing the best I can with what info I have.

I'm sorry you're having to wait on other people to get your planning done, things like that drive me loco. Hopefully they'll let you know here within the next few days! Your ADRs sound great though!

My goal is to get the ADRs nailed down by mid-January - before the 90 day mark.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECKKKKKKKKKK no. Which is amazing why anyone WOULD!! They have FP for a reason people!!!!! We only waited in the opening line for Toy Story but even that was maybe 40 minutes, if that... you loose time when you are meandering through the line. The line for Space was that long many days, but we had FPs and on Christmas morning there were NOOOOOOOOO lines -- rode Space four times in a row no wait!!

The FP is definitely the way to go - I want to go through the opening line at TSM this time - we have only used the FP line before and I want to see Mr. Potato Head. :thumbsup2

Christmas morning at Space Mountain... :cloud9:

I like how you used the word "unsettled". It just fits the situation....

Isn't everything supposed to fit neatly into a spreadsheet? And then you can put that spreadsheet into a neat binder, with color-coded tabs?

If I can't do that, I feel unsettled. ;)

I laugh because I can't believe people don't love planning and organizing as much as I do.

Before I change the calendar over to 2010 I thought I'd post some pictures of the Disney related loot I got for Christmas. First, you already know about the very cool little Kodak camera Tim got me with his Marriott points! I love it! :thumbsup2

The funny thing is we considered getting a video camera but decided on the regular camera and then DMIL got us this for Christmas (without knowing we were looking at one):

It's a Flip Ultra...

Then the boys (with my help, disguised as DH's help) got me these:

And the Large Cosmetic Bag, shown here in Mediterranean White, but mine is blue:

I don't think I mentioned this, but Karen was visiting her parents in Canada for Christmas - she flew to Canada on Christmas day and is flying back to Florida today. She has a son in Maine so between Canada and Maine she found some time to come by and visit us on Monday afternoon. They got stuck in Vermont in a ton of traffic (stand still get out of your car to look around traffic) but finally made it to us around 2:30. The kids loved getting to see her!! She brought a bunch of gifts, but one that I thought you would enjoy seeing is this one:

tinkblanket.jpg

I'm sure you've all seen the "Snuggie" on tv - the one that has arms so you can change the channel and talk on the phone without leaving the comfort of your Snuggie... well it's hard to tell from the picture, but that's what it is!! I would have laughed at it, but it was Tink so I love it!

One funny story to share to finish up this last post of the year... Tim went out with a friend/former co-worker, Chris, last night. Chris's wife works for Disney! She is a Disney travel agent - she takes calls and books people's Disney vacations!! :thumbsup2 Tim is always telling me about Chris's family vacations to Disney. When he got home I asked him where Chris is staying on his next Disney vacation. Tim thought for sure somewhere DVC. I guessed maybe Tree Houses, BLT?? Tim said, Oh Jason is staying at the Tree Houses and Chris stayed at BLT already so I'm not sure about next time. I was kind of surprised to hear of another DVC friend, Jason, and that he knew so much about their Disney stays. I'm hoping some of it will rub off... at the very least, Tim is starting to think that going to Disney every year is a normal thing. :rolleyes1

Happy New Year everyone!!

A Tink Snuggie! how fun. A plug in snuggie was one of the hot stolen items at our adult gift exchange

I don't think I'll ever get Jeff on the every year plan with Disney but I can live with every 2 if I have to! I suppose the good part about it is if I can ever swing DVC, we can live on 150 points.

:rotfl:

I loved your ornaments...:goodvibes I always feel like I have more time to really look at and enjoy mine after the super bustle of Christmas...:goodvibes

(I have those little Mickey and Minnie snowpeople too...;)

Ah the iphone...Eric has one and I'm a little envious...I think I'm going to ask for one for my birthday or Christmas next year...:lmao:(you can never plan too early)

I sympathize with your wanting to know how many people you have to make ADRs for...:confused3...best to go higher though...I'm going to have the same problem when I plan our trip for Em's bday trip in October...6 at the lowest but that could hit 10...:confused3

Happy New Year!:woohoo:

Ooooo... imagine if there were a plug in Tink snuggie!

For a while we were going to Disney every year & a half... but then we decided we prefer spring over fall so I've been lucky enough to go every year! :thumbsup2

I have never been a very high-tech person but I love all of the features I have on my iPhone - I couldn't live without it now!

The waiting... DMIL still hasn't even submitted her vacation request... I didn't think I'd be waiting on her too! :headache:

Happy New Year everyone!!

I'll be back later for my first Magic Kingdom post! :thumbsup2

I just read your PTR and love it!

Your boys are adorable and your Christmas decorations are too cute!

How is the Flip Ultra? I've been considering buying one.

Hi Native NYer! :welcome:

I haven't really used the Flip yet, but the little bit we tried it out on Christmas was very easy.

Thanks for reading along & for the nice comments! :goodvibes

FLIP Video! My roommate got one for Xmas! shhhh.....I'm hoping to take it to WDW in Feb...

Bags..oy!;)

Snuggie......they remind me of crocs for some reason...;)

Isn't it great when you have people helping you with the WDW cause w/o even any prompting. It's a freebie that's most welcome!

Happy New Year!

To kick off 2010 I’m starting my WDW Parks Looking back/Looking ahead series of posts. I am going to start with… Magic Kingdom. I have been to WDW nine times. The first trip was in 1982, when I was 9 with my family. The second & third trips were with my childhood best friend & her family – unfortunately I don’t have any pictures from those trips that I can put my hands on right now. The next trip was in 1997 with Tim about a year after we got married. 2002 was Alex’s first trip, 2006 Zach’s first. That started a trend with trips in 2007, 2008 (me & my mom) and 2009. With 2010 just around the corner! As I go through each of the parks I want to share pictures from years past as well as favorites & our wish list for 2010. Enjoy!!

Magic Kingdom – Looking Back – Post #1 – Going way, way back! 1982 was my first trip to WDW. I was 9 years old & my brother was 6. We drove to Florida in our pick-up truck – my brother & I riding in the back :scared1: (yes there was a cap on the truck)!! We camped at Fort Wilderness. I wish my mother had found more pictures (there are two more pictures from this trip coming in a future post). There aren’t any pictures of our family… Here are some pictures from Magic Kingdom (the only park at the time):

Borrowed Flip video - Nice! :thumbsup2

I know... men just don't appreciate bags as much as women - sorry! Tim thinks I'm a bit crazy when I talk bags too.

Snuggies & crocs... :rotfl:

I thought everyone planned and organized too....

;)

Back to school Monday - how about you? The kids had a half-day last Wednesday and their vacation started Thursday - 7 school days off.

Yes Mon for everyone except Margaret her first day back is Tues...so even though Monday I have to be back in the swing...Tues will be the real test! my kids have been off for 2 weeks...luckily Matt for 1 /2 of those...that has helped.

I hope you are all keeping your sanity through the holidays and are feeling better! Tim's pneumonia doesn't want to go away & he's on prednisone now & still coughing! :headache:

Oh I'm sorry Tim got sick too..yuck!

the 80's must have been the time to go huh? you know my first trip was my parent's 2nd one in 1984. Epcot was open for our first big family trip.

Anyone know what this is?

that doesn't look familair to me either...are you sure it's not off site somewhere?

Up next: Magic Kingdom – Looking Back – Post #2 – Going back to 1997.

Can't wait...did 3 trips in the 90's too

Oh and here are a few of the Disney mysteries to be solved...

Aldine just asked:

Does Mickey have brothers?

me: no

A: Well how can he have nephews? :confused3

A: Are Donald and Daisy married?

me: no

A: but they have kids

me: no those are his nephews too...

Aldine now even more confused  :rotfl:

J~

Amy-love your photos from Disney years gone by...isn't it fun to see how much some things are still the same and how things have changed? Like that house...:confused3...I was going to say it was on a set from Disney Studios but that wasn't even built yet...:confused3

Sorry about Tim...pneumonia really takes it out of you and even when you're "better" you still are not quite yourself for a bit...men aren't always so good with that...:rolleyes1
