Celebrating my Un-Birthday Disney Style-April 2010-New 5/3 - The TR has started!

First a quick update on our Give a Day project... We finished the first phase of decorating our box. Zach painted the inside red then all four of us glued tissue paper all over the outside of the box. Alex lasted about 5 minutes - he HATES having stuff like glue on his hands!! Everything is drying now.

I hate the feeling of glue on my hands, too.

You'll take a picture of the finished box, right?

For some reason it always cracks me up that they are still using this float after so many years.

Very cool piccies :) We've checked a couple times, but so far no opportunities close by enough that Piper could participate in, we're very rural though. I keep hoping a Habitat opportunity will pop up locally, but none yet. Piper is over my shoulder and said to tell you "hi!"! Very cool that you all have your box almost done!

Good morning! I'm sure you have all heard about the Give a Day/Get a Day promotion Disney is running this year. I was happy to see that there are many opportunities for families with kids, although not too many for kids as young as six (six is the youngest possible age) but I did find one that we actually get to do at home!!

Very cool... and it reinforces such a great concept with the kids! :thumbsup2

Happy New Year!

Nice photos from 1997...:thumbsup2

Tell Tim I can relate. I have an extra person living around my waist..;)

I will post pictures of the finished box later today - I have to get them off the camera & upload them to photobucket - I should have time today.

I'm surprised about the float too... doesn't seem very Disney? :confused3

Hi Piper!! I'm sure there will be some opportunities come up for you guys - the one we did should be open to everyone, not just people in NH, because you mail in the photos/donations. Let me know and I'll PM you the details.

I love the look back. Disney parades are always so much fun :goodvibes

Thanks!! I've posted some of the looking back pictures before, but many of them are new.

The boys enjoyed some time out in the snow yesterday:

I stood inside the garage, safely behind the glass:

This one's a bit fuzzy, and I must have gotten a snowflake on the lense, but it's the best one of the group:

You may have noticed my new ticker... Not another trip, I just wanted to have a ticker that counts down by the day, rather than the week - it makes dancing easier. ;) Plus the first ticker counts down to our trip to Florida (4/22), the second counts down to our first park day (4/26).

I think I would have stayed in the garage, too. It looks awfully chilly there, but the boys appear to be having a blast making snow angels and playing.

The box turned out great!!! :thumbsup2

I guess when you live where it snows, it behooves you to go out and play in it a few times a season.:thumbsup2

The kids look like they had fun.

Pray for at least some rain here. We're in the middle of a severe drought......

fun box Amy...and I enjoyed your little photos too.

I like the day countdown's too...I have one from DVC on my lap top...but 300+ days seems longer than 10 months + ;)

it will be fun to see your days get smaller and smaller...

I like the box & the new ticker!!:thumbsup2
Like the pics from years back also. I was driving to Hampton in the snow Saturday. My DS had an indoor soccer game which was NOT canceled so on the road we went. It wasn't too fun going but by the time we came back the highway was good.

I like your new ticker too...:goodvibes

I love the photos of the boys playing around in the snow...hey when you have snow...embrace it...(especially with some coffee or hot chocolate from behind the windows in the house...:lmao:

The box turned out quite nicely...:thumbsup2

I was happy DH wanted to take them out... he was out there clearing the driveway and told me to send them out. Usually he's working and I have to take them out. Alex won't play in the yard without an adult outside (unless it's the fenced in portion of our back yard) because he's so afraid of dogs that he thinks a dog will wander into our yard. I think that might have happened once in recent history. :sad2:

It's fun to play in once in a while, but it gets old fast! I hope some rain comes your way soon. :umbrella:

It's just occurred to me that we're right around the corner from a double digits dance as well as a 90 day dance.

I like the box & the new ticker!!:thumbsup2

Yuck!! We drove to the YMCA near us for swimming but that was it all weekend. I couldn't believe how bad the roads were - I guess it's because of the wind - every time the plows would go by, the wind would blow more snow on the road.

I like your new ticker too...:goodvibes

There was hot chocolate after! :thumbsup2

Our credit with Southwest is growing again... I got a "click & save" email today and finally our dates were included. The return flight was actually $300 more (total for all four of us) so I didn't change that one but the flight down to Tampa was about $10 lower than our current tickets (per person) so I re-booked that portion and got another credit for $43! Plus I have our original credit for $40 from right after I booked in October. I don't know if we'll get to use the credit or not, but we have $83 right now. I'm sure DH can use it for work if nothing else.

So as we stand our flight to Tampa cost $534 and the flight back home is $678 for a total of $1212. Not bad considering it includes 8 free bags! And you know we'll have 8 bags! :rolleyes1

Great news on the SW credit. This happened to us 2 trips ago. In the end we had a $360 credit. But it had to be used within a year of the original purchase. Which wasn't possible. They did extend it for 6 months after the expiration, but they charged me $100 to do so. So we ended up with a $260 credit. Which was still very nice!

The box came out very cute, Amy! So cool you could find something the whole family could do together! All your "boys" ;) looked like they were having a good time in the snow! Ours is almost all melted here, it's lasted a lot longer than I thought I would!
