Celebrating my Un-Birthday Disney Style-April 2010-New 5/3 - The TR has started!

Just bought the new e-ticket/disboards app for my iPhone and I'm testing it out to see how much easier it is to post! So far so good. Don't think I can update my font/color or add smilies but posting away from home seems much easier than trying to do it over the web on my phone!! Can anyone say Live Updates in April!!

Awesome can't wait to get some live report sneeks :thumbsup2

I'm green w/ envy for your iphone...but I am so looking forward to free WiFi in our DVC home so I can do some live at night or heading out or break reports while we are there :goodvibes

Love your ornament pictures....so fun! you have some very cute ones. :santa:

DVC WiFi! :thumbsup2

I have to say I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my iPhone & would feel lost without it. However I used to pay about $40/month for cell service and now I pay about $80! :headache: (I think it's worth every penny!;))

I heard that it was pretty busy at Disney this week, but 120 minute wait times!!! Who actually stands in line that long???

Your Disney Christmas decorations are very cute! Love them all!

I love the Christmas decorations. I have the set of ornaments with Mickey holding the packages & Minnie on her cell phone. So is it cold enough for you tonight???:scared1: They say with the wind chill it will feel like 30 below zero!!
I am ready for Florida NOW!!!

ugh, there was 120 wait times on our trip last year, not that we stood in them!

Your decorations are darling!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very cute ornaments, Amy..I love the snowmen with the Mickey ears! 120 minutes is crazy. I can't even imagine waiting in line with a child for that long..geez! Very cool app for your i-phone though.

120+ minutes is absurd!! I can't imagine dealing with those crowds... I told Tim I would like to see Disney at Christmas some day, but that I love having Christmas at home too. He said, "maybe when the kids are older"... :thumbsup2

I'm so ready for Florida - it wasn't as bad today as it was yesterday, but still way too cold for me!

Ugh is right!! Were the crowds elbow to elbow?

The Mickey snowmen are little miniature Hallmark ornaments - it's hard to tell from the pictures, but they are tiny!

We can't handle 30 minutes in line - there's NO WAY we would make it 120!

Now that DMIL is probably coming along with us to Florida I had to look at our ADRs. Her plans aren't set in stone & of course, we don't have Jeff's plans yet but I wanted to do a preliminary look-see to explore our ADR options.

We sent Jeff & Karen an email asking them to confirm which days they think they'll be with us in Orlando and whether or not J & K will be able to join them. DMIL needs this info to make her plans because ideally she wants to fly into West Palm Beach, visit her mother (Great Gramma, otherwise known as GG) then come to Orlando with us on Sunday, 4/25 after we visit GG. However, if J & K are going to miss out on Disney (again...) DMIL will have to change her plans so she doesn't miss them. So hopefully the pressure of DMIL needing to book some flights will help Jeff & Karen commit to some dates. Then I can finalize ADRs.

In the meantime, I wanted to make sure we would be able to visit our favorites restaurants if DMIL is with us so I tweeked some of our current ADRs.

First, I asked the kids what their favorite restaurants are. Alex said, "Chef Mickeys" and Zach said, "the place where the guy flips stuff into his hat!" (Teppan Edo)

I checked Chef Mickey's and there is NO availability until much later than we want to eat on Tuesday 4/27! :headache: I figured we could eat there on an Epcot night just as easily as a MK night so I checked Monday, 4/26 - nothing! :headache::headache: Just for kicks I checked Wednesday, 4/28 (our night scheduled for HDDR) and they had a 5:35 ADR for a party of 5. I booked it and now we are re-thinking HDDR. I'd love to do it before Alex turns 10 and I think the kids would like it, but I'm sure they would rather spend some more time at MK. I have been feeling like we don't have enough MK time in our itinerary anways... I won't cancel HDDR until we get a solid itinerary, plus we can always go another night - it looks like availability there is still OK.

Next I moved on to Teppan Edo. Teppan Edo with a party of 9 could be a problem when the tables only seat 8... but we can deal with that later. I was able to change the Saturday 5/1 ADR for 8 at 5:30 to a 5:00 ADR for a party of 9 no problem. I also changed Monday 4/26 for 4 people at 5:00 to5:10 for a party of 5. :thumbsup2

Now I just get to play the waiting game and hope I get Jeff's travel plans nailed down soon. :confused3

Plans look good. We have never tried Teppan Edo but will be trying it this trip. It must be tough when you are trying to make plans & not sure how many or who will be there huh? I added another breakfast ADR today at Captain's Grill at the Yacht Club (we are staying at Beach Club) so we can walk over there. I had no problem although I tried Cape May Cafe & nothing available for the morning I wanted but we are already eating there earlier in the week. HDDR is so much fun. We went a few years ago & even my 2 DS's (teenagers) really enjoyed it. I want to go again sometime. Lots of fun!! Keep checking for Chef Mickey's. You never know, someone may cancel or change their times.

sorry you are doing that waiting game stuff again....

glad you were able to easily switch a few ADR's up to 9 people...

I don't think I could handle not knowing if people were coming or not if it was time to make my ADR's, I'd just make my own...maybe I'm not as nice as you ;)

hope everyone decides soon what they want to do, but it sure would be nice if J & K can come this time after what happened last yr...

BTW when does school start again? :rolleyes1

J~

Oooooo... Beach Club! :cloud9: Maybe I'll finally get to stay there for my 25th! :rolleyes1

I'll keep trying for Chef Mickey's - I'll probably get something by April. You should keep trying for Cape May!

Yes - frustrating is a good word to describe the waiting... nobody else seems to understand my crazed urgency!

Hi Jules! I figure it's better to have ADRs for too many people than for not enough. If we end up with 7 with an ADR for 9 they won't turn us away but if we show up with 9 and they only have a table for 8 we may be out of luck. :confused3

And as far as making ADRs for just us... that's why I have so many! I have some for 4, some for 5, some for 8 and now some for 9! :headache:

Back to school Monday - how about you? The kids had a half-day last Wednesday and their vacation started Thursday - 7 school days off.

I hope you are all keeping your sanity through the holidays and are feeling better! Tim's pneumonia doesn't want to go away & he's on prednisone now & still coughing! :headache:

Oh yeah, 120 minutes for Soarin as an example. AND I know! Right? WHO actually stands in line that long??!! Well enough people to make the wait 120 minutes!! :lmao: Though I say there were some postings which said 50 minutes, but it was only 30, some said 30 and were 10. It was crazy!

Hopefully Amy you wont have that! AND I second the comments on the decorations TOOOOO cute!!! :goodvibes

I hope you didn't wait in any of those lines! :scared1:

Amy, I really hope you are able to get some dates out of Jeff and Karen soon, I know how frustrating it is when your schedule is tied into that of others and they don't have the same sense of urgency that you do. Not speaking of Jeff and Karen of course, but of J&K's mom.

Our K may well miss out on Disney and we may not know one way or another until June! It makes me crazy. I need to do ADR's in 6 weeks, no way will we have different dates then so all I can hope is that IF we change our dates, what we want (all around) is actually available for whatever we move it to.

Hi Amy, I am caught up. The waiting would drive me crazy. I couldn't handle it if someone wouldn't figure out their plans. I hope they tell you soon.

"The place where the guy flips stuff into his hat." :lmao: Kids have the funniest ways of remembering things!

Glad you were able to switch your ADRs around without too much trouble. I hope MIL and Jeff and Karen are able to nail their plans down soon. Waiting on other people to make decisions can be frustrating. (At least for me.)

I am not a big fan of waiting for other people in order to move ahead, but I think you have the right idea in booking multiple ADRs and cancelling the ones you don't need...:thumbsup2 That's good planning!

I'm sorry you're having to wait on other people to get your planning done, things like that drive me loco. Hopefully they'll let you know here within the next few days! Your ADRs sound great though!

I hope you didn't wait in any of those lines! :scared1:

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECKKKKKKKKKK no. Which is amazing why anyone WOULD!! They have FP for a reason people!!!!! We only waited in the opening line for Toy Story but even that was maybe 40 minutes, if that... you loose time when you are meandering through the line. The line for Space was that long many days, but we had FPs and on Christmas morning there were NOOOOOOOOO lines -- rode Space four times in a row no wait!!
