Cats & Bats & Healthy Chats - October 2024 W.I.S.H. Thread

I don't have much going on this weekend either. Tonight DH and I tried to go to JCPenney and Kohls to looks for some Dockers for him. His are all pretty much worn out / too short and he needs a refresh on them.

Our Penney's closes at 7:00! It was 7:10 when we got there lol - so just Kohls for tonight. They only had black in his size, so I guess I'll be shopping online for some this weekend.

Tomorrow we're going to go to Costco to cash our yearly membership check. It was just $90 something this year. Last year (first year we were members), it was over $350, but we booked our extended family Alaska cruise through them, so 2% back on that was a lot! (Thank you mom!)

Happy Saturday Friends!!!! Sounds like we all have a good start to the weekend, even if we have nothing big planned

I thought for social Saturday we could talk about pumpkins!! Do you get pumpkins? Do you carve them or paint them or leave them as they are and just display them?

As the kids have gotten older we have only bought and displayed pumpkins…but we used to carve some and paint some…I mush prefer painting!!!

Now with our granddaughter we may change things up…this year we did Halloween crafts with foot and hand prints but maybe next year we will include a pumpkin craft as well!

I hope everyone enjoys this fall day!!

Yes, I usually buy and carve a pumpkin. I used to do some really creative ones when DH and I were first married (one year, I stacked three into a snowman!) Then after DS was born, I was more focused on his costumes and stuff, so pumpkins got simpler. Nowadays, it's as much about roasting the seeds as anything else.

We paint pumpkins. The one year we tried to carve I was busy and came home to DH and the kids carving pumpkins that still had all the “guts” inside…yeah….
We paint and 9 times out of 10 even with putting a clear spray paint on them the paint ends up dribbling off in the rain.
Last year we put them in the grass as opposed to the walkway and stoop since we just had those re-done. Pretty sure the mystery plant in the the front yard is the result of the pumpkins from last year.

At this phase in my life, I'm not really doing anything with pumpkins. We did pumpkins when the kids were growing up - usually carving, or a few years, we bought a kit where you took the insides out and then hammered these "light-bright" type pegs into the pumpkin. The kids loved it and it was really easier to me than carving them.

I agree with @PollyannaMom about the seeds though! They are the best!

Helllloooooo Sunday!!!

How are you spending your day today??

We spent 2 services at church-attending one and serving at coffee bar for 2nd service. Our oldest kids and granddaughter came so that was great! DH and I went to brunch after then watched the Eagles game!

My self care was the Eagles win!!!!

Go birds 🦅🦅 🦅🦅

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday!!!

We also started the day at church. We then went to lunch at my mom's with my sister's family and headed home for the afternoon. Unfortunately DH and I both had some work to do, but it's ok because it will make the upcoming week go much smoother!

Now, we're relaxing with a movie and trying to decide to eat for supper since we're not going to my in-laws tonight. It might just be what we call DYOT (do your own thing)lol!

We usually carve pumpkins but I don't think we have the last year or so since the kids have gotten older.

I did nothing on Sunday except watch football, the rest of Fire Country and cut up veggies for a salad. It was a very low key day.

My motivation for this week is to lose weight and not gain it. I am finally feeling better and all the side effects seem to be gone and I was eating more. So i want to get everything back in order and walk at least 10,000 steps each day.

Hello friends. September was the worst first month of school in my life.

In a matter of weeks, while grieving my brother and friend, I dealt with outrageously violent student behaviors, was verbally abused along with every teacher in the district by our superintendent’s new incompetent hires, marched in a protest with my union against the superintendent, went into lockdown and missed two days of school because of active shooters and continued threats, was observed by my principal’s supervisor twice, was named Kindergarten Exemplary Teacher and told that I would be the model to follow (I want none of it. I just want to teach and be left alone), had marriage issues, and suffered with a stress headache that would not go away.

In October, DH and I went to Cape Cod for five days to celebrate my birthday and work on our relationship. It took three days of vacation taking medicine 24/7 for the headache to go away. It was a wonderful trip. DH has begun therapy. I’m back at work, but happily home for Columbus Day.

My weight is higher than ever. I need to manage my stress better and get healthy again.

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes💕💕💕. Today I will try to catch up.

Oh Friend I am so sorry to read this. We are here for you always and you will get through this and be stronger because of your journey.

I prayed for you today and will continue praying for you 🙏🏼

Modivation for this week is-I need to undo the weekend!! I over indulged, didn’t track…but I enjoyed myself so I guess that counts for something!!

So far today food and exercise have been on track. I am off work today and babysitting my granddaughter and she just went down for a nap so I am going to try and squeeze in a quick strength training today, I already did my yoga.

I broke down and bought a pit of compression knee braces this weekend because my knees were killllllinngggg me!! They arrived yesterday and they feel so good-like a warm hug from your grandma-but for my knees. I start PT Friday and they will probably tell me not to wear them but until they do I am keeping them on!!

Enjoy your day everyone!

I'm so sorry to hear this - I've been thinking about you and hoping things were ok.

So much to deal with at all, let alone at the same time :grouphug: -will definitely be saying a prayer for you

I'm motivated to take advantage of one of the few days DH and DS have off in common! Hopefully we're going to do some family stuff today.

I love it when days off line up together!

We usually carve pumpkins but I don't think we have the last year or so since the kids have gotten older.

Sounds like a great day! I love days without lots of plans!

Definitely sounds like you've gotten right back on track! Good luck with your PT and I hope it helps with your knee pain

My motivation this week is being good while DH is out of town. Sounds so funny, but I do better when he's at home. I sometimes feel like a little kid stealing candy when he's gone of something. I don't know why really, but I definitely eat better when he's home!

Sending hugs and hope @Summer2018

Yesterday was fairly low key during the day church, football, the usual. Made some Greek yogurt brownies that tasted quite yummy but had a weird consistency. Took the kids to see the Jack-o-lanterns at the zoo last night which made for a nice night. We managed to get there early and get in and out before the parking and rain got crazy.

Motivation this week is the bloodwork I am getting done either this Friday or early next week. Like to get it done before Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas for obvious reasons! Blocked off gym time on my work calendar because I can tell the stress will lead to candy and rather than feel guilty about the candy I would rather eat it when I “need” it and counter it with some treadmill time.
