Caribbean Beach FAQ part VI

You're welcome. One of things we love about CBR is that fact that there is a bus stop for every village. After having some long walks in the Fla. heat to a central bus stop at other resorts, we much prefer sitting on an air conditioned bus riding around a beautiful resort than walking.:cool2:

If you don't mind answering… which were the worst walks to the buses from your trips?

Sorry I forgot the most important question… has anyone ever had a problem with mosquitos? Apparently I am mosquito candy. There have been incidents. :-)

I too am Mosquito Candy. People will sit next to me because all the Mosquitos will go for me. Must be my blood type. I pack bug repellant for every trip and have never had to use it at the parks or resorts or anywhere else on Disney property.

We were there April 30 to May 5. There were strong storms on Wednesday night, delayed flights attempting to land. It was hot, humid, and rainy on Thursday. By Thursday night, I was in a gift shop in Magic Kingdom buying bug spray - had to ask as it was in a cabinet behind the register. I was getting bitten by something, not sure what. DD is highly allergic to mosquito bites so I didn't wait to spray her - they sold Deep Woods Off. I've never needed bug spray before. Maybe it was the rain, maybe it was the season but it was nasty.

We just booked for this summer! :cool1:

Does anybody know which buildings have the queen beds yet? I heard CBR was getting them...

The refurb was to have started in April, no one has been able to confirm that they've actually started yet. A PP saw some kind of activity near Jamaica, a possible staging area.. but no confirmation that that is what it was.

Hi, everyone. I've gotten through most of the thread now and I'm a big fan of mickeystoontown's trip reports. I think your mom might be tougher than most of us though. :-) I have a few questions still if you all can help. Thanks!!

Awww, thanks! It's good to hear that you've enjoyed the reports. Yep, my Mama is one tough woman. I hope that I have half s much energy that she has when I turn 80.

How long does the bus take to circle resort (I assume the 10-20 minute estimates to the parks do not include resort circling time)?
Pros and cons of Preferred Martinique vs Trinidad? We don't want to be too far from the pool, but the bus is probably the most important. I was thinking I'd request Martinique 26 and 25.

Dansdad has already answered.

What's your favorite item from the food court?

Oh gosh, we haven't had a bad dish yet. As far as desserts go, I like the monkey cupcake. Food food....hum, well, you read my trip reports so you know that the pizza is Hunter's favorite. John loves the reuben sandwich and the philly cheesesteak is pretty good too. And, as dansdad said, the housemade chips are great.

No laundry by main pool? Tag teaming DS4 with husband by the pool with laundry is always nice. I don't think we're going to be able to drag him away from the pirate ship area, even if it will be November. He loved the dripping jellyfish at AoA in December when I thought it was too cold to even swim. Kids. :-)

You could always put a load or two of laundry on in your village laundry room and walk back over to transfer them to the dryers.

Are any of the playgrounds better than others?

The one on the island is probably the best. There are also hammocks there.

We have two pre-park opening ADRs scheduled (8am for 9am openings at MK and AK). What time would you be at the bus stop?
Thanks again!

I believe that dansdad answered this as well.

http://www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php

this is the thread I was thinking of. unfortunately, it's only for POR or POFQ. it shows all the king rooms, connecting, handicapped, etc.

I guess I thought there was a site like this for all the resorts. my bad.

you click on the building on the map, then click again and it enlarges. we just stayed in room 5204 at FQ. you can see that there are 9 king bed rooms in bldg. 5, and their location

I am allergic to mosquitos and walked around CBR a lot last summer when I stayed for a week. Not one bite. :)

Now, that's a cool idea for a map. I wish there was one for CBR too. It's not a Disney site, but a fan site specializing in the Port Orleans resorts.:)

Just booked for October, excited haven't stayed at this resort in a long time and it was for only 1 night then, now trying to find the best section to stay in.

Just booked last night for a quick Star Wars weekend 05/16 - 05/18.
Standard room. We usually stay at WL but we had done a fishing excursion at CB and liked it, plus we needed to stay on budget. (Plus we booked another fishing trip! I caught a 6lb bass there on 05/05 :) )

We actually just returned from WL, stayed 04/25 - 05/06 and then when we got home we found out that DH is leaving for Afghanistan in early June.

We are calling this the 'See You Real Soon' trip.

Only request I asked for in online check in was close to transportation.

It's official made our last payment on our December trip . Two rooms ,seven people first time every at CRB and first December trip . Now I just need to survive the airfare game. Prices have jumped majorly right now out of Pittsburgh and Buffalo :crazy2:. I really hope they are down when December prices drop this month .:scared:

I would love to book this hotel in November. Maybe the second week. I saw how the pools are and they are going to be perfect for my little ones. My only concern is the weather. What is the weather like in November in Orland? Can we still enjoy the pools?

LOL! I too am one of the world's worst mosquito victims. My family says that sitting next to me is the best mosquito repellent there is... When we go camping, I've been known to have 50+ bites when others are bite free. And that is with 2 different kinds of mosquito repellent and several citronella candles - I sincerely try.

But at Disney world, even though I have taken mosquito repellent each time (in a small bottle in my backpack), I don't know that I have ever gotten the repellent out. Maybe when we go to Fantasmic - sometimes the bugs seem to swarm there. But otherwise hasn't been bad. But it never hurts to pack at least a small bottle of repellent if you are a "mosquito candy" kind of person - I like that phrase by the way. You can get the small bottles of Avon's Skin So Soft repellent on ebay and they seem to pack nicely.

Good luck! Looking forward to our stay - September 19, please hurry up...
