I rented points and because we had to change dates, the original reservation was cancelled and a new one booked. The original cancelled reservation and the new one show in MDE. Will the cancelled one eventually drop off or do I need to call? I was advised to call tech support, but was really hoping it would just magically disappear.

Thanks

Have you tried logging out and back in to MDE ?

this should come as no surprise but Disney‘s computer system is what you would can out dated….

the whole it was explained to me, when I had the same thing happen,

the system is prompted to load your new reservation by you, when you enter the data to link it. The system never looks to see if a reservation has changed / been canceled….

By logging out and back in you force it.

I tried the suggestions and when they didn't work, I looked and saw my cancelled reservation is now for rent as a confirmed booking. I think my name is still on it behind the scenes. I guess it will just show until the member changes the names. I don't really want IT to unlink it since I want to make sure I'm removed at some point.

If you did online check in and entered a credit card, I’d make sure that you take care of getting the reservation unlinked to your MDE.

Follow up - I would like to ask the agency to have the member remove our info from the reservation, but is that unreasonable? I wasn't sure if there was a reason(s) I should not request it.

Simply unlinking with IT worries me that behind the scenes it is still associated with us.

I personally think that’s a reasonable request. The owner can simply put their name back until it’s rented again.

If it’s not your reservation any longer I would want my name off it so there is no association
Just to be sure - it causes no penalty or hardship (other than having to do it) for the member to put it back in their name? The board sponsor is either misunderstanding my request or not willing to ask the member to do so. I just sent another message to make sure they understand I'm just asking for a name change.

I'm not trying to be difficult. I just don't want it still in my name.

The owner can chat with MS or call them to take your name off. There’s no cost, no penalty, it’s just taking the time to do it. The website has been down a lot recently and phone wait times are sometimes long, so that might be contributing to a delay. But I believe you’re making a valid request.

No it doesn’t other than what the contract with the owner says. Some companies have a clause in which they have to pay an owner a smal extra fee to make the change. So maybe that they won’t be asking them to do it until it is rented again?

I am not sure of the circumstances that allowed you to cancel your rental and secure a different one so that may be playing a role as well.

That may be it. I know they'll re-rent it because it is the Poly over a holiday weekend so I will just wait it out if my last email doesn't change anything.

I used the board sponsor's cancel for credit. We had to change our arrival date due to some personal issues so the first had to be cancelled. A new member picked up the revised itinerary.

Sooooo...received another response. They keep explaining what I know. I know that the reservation still exists with DVC. I know that the member will change it to the new person once rented. They don't seem to understand, despite reiterating it, that I just want the name changed since it is no longer mine.

What I gathered from their response, is that the member may not even be aware that it has changed to an unrented confirmed reservation. Unless I'm interpreting it wrong which is always possible.

What started our as a minor request, now has me upset with the passive aggressive responses. Don't insult my intelligence just because I'm making a request that nobody else may have asked.

Whew. I feel better now just venting!

Wow, I hope you have something in writing stating that you’re not responsible for paying for the original reservation as well as the new one!

Thankfully I do, several times over. I guess if worse comes to worst I have 3 nights at Poly I didn't pay for! (Kidding)

It certainly sounds like they don’t let owners know to change names unless it is rerented since they will be paying the owner the balance regardless of whether it is re rented or not.

My guess is what I said before..the contract with the owner requires them to pay them to change a name and not going to do that until it’s needed.

Another thought is that if it doesn’t get rented again, thst owner still can’t cancel it per their contract so I can see why the broker has no need to tell them.

I had a rental that was a no show and was not noticed by the broker it was happening.

I'm sure you are right (again). It is still annoying, but it is what it is and I guess I just need to be patient. Not my strong point :flower3:
