Canada Le Cellier, WHAT is the Big Deal?

I agree with JLS. You can get a steak and only use one TS credit. That's why it's always booked. But woe unto the person who pays OOP at LeCellier. So not worth it. Far better to spend $34 on a steak at Shula's.

I think the steaks at Le Celliar are OK. I think the filets at Outback are better, thicker cuts of meat. The filets at Le Celliar are not as good in our experience.

We were at Le Cellier on Valentine's Day (and many times previous), and we have always had very good food and service. We tried the Chefs selection which included an app, entree, and dessert utilizing the regular meal plan. I agree with some previous posters that the signature dining resturants are better, but for one credit using the DDP, we were very pleased. Actually, this was one of our better meals - as all of the other resturants we felt extremely rushed.

We actually liked it, not as good as Old Homestead or Bobby Flays, but it was good. My favorite part was the chocolate moose!! Yum!

We ate there last week and it was great as usual! Are going back in June....I hope it's another tasty meal!

Le Cellier SUCKS and everyone should cancel their ADRs....post haste...:rolleyes1 ;) :lmao:

Sorry, nope, uh uh, not working with me:lmao:

We love this place!! We are hoping to get an ADR for our August trip!

Interesting that I happened upon this thread today. It was my 90 day window to book ADRs today.

Guess which restaurant is totally booked during out stay? Yup! That would be Le Cellier. Not ONE dinner reservation for the whole seven day duration of our trip.

I was hoping to get an ADR so my sister could eat there. I've been twice, once mediocre and once wonderful. I was willing to give it another shot.

I'll try again periodically. We'll see... :goodvibes

Penny, sometimes there are threads where people give up ressies. I got a Le Cellier last minute in Oct. that way....

To me, Le Cellier is "simply the best, better than all the rest"! Never been disappointed and the food and service is as good as you'll get. A must do for us that's for sure.

so...did this work? Did you get a ressie open up from someone canceling:lmao:

(didn't work on me...we love Le Cellier. And the main reason it gets booked so fast is because it is such a small place. Just a limited number of seat. Oh, and the food is good, too)

Le Cellier is not the best, but it's great if you're on DDP using only 1 TS. There isn't a lot of restaurant within the 4 parks that offer the location and good steak to choose from(1 TS credit) So meanwhile, Le Cellier will always be popular.

I've eaten at Le Cellier twice, and have really enjoyed it both times! I love the mushroom fillet with cream cheese mashed potatoes, and of course the cheese soup! I guess to each his own :goodvibes

I have always enjoyed my meals at Le Cellier. But I have never thought they were the best of anything, other than pretzel bread. That is because i don't know where else they serve that. And I sure wouldn't go there just for pretzel bread.
I like the soup everyone raves about. But I really like Big River Grill Beer Cheese soup much better. (And I don't like alcohol to drink -- esp beer.) LC soup is pretty wimpy next to BR.
Good restaurant. But I have had great meals at other places I rather go anyway. :cool1:

Add me to the list of not impressed! The original restaurant in the Contemporary Resort, I am drawing a blank here, but the one that was replaced with the wave...........ugghhhhh!!! Anyway, we had our best steaks there. We had to try LC once, but won't do it again! My kids also thought the waiter was really kissing up for a good tip, funny how kids can pick up on that stuff.

We've eaten at Lc a number of times and for the most part it is only ok. We always have to wait well past our ADR time (we go in value season, eat early, and have a party of 4) and the service is slow. In terms of the time used and food quality we decided we aren't going back. For 1 TS credit it feels like a great deal but yes I agree with the OP that the quality of the meat is not so good. The steak starts out large but by the time I cut off all inedible stuff there's not much left. At home I buy steak at Costco and it's much better.

LC was the best meal of our Dec 07 trip and so we all agreed to eat there again in Dec 08. Frankly, we didn't have any problem getting ADRs either time:confused3 Anyways, our experience in Dec 08 more than cancelled out the earlier experience. It was just awful. The service was horrible. I am not sure what was going on but there were a ton of empty tables and lots of people waiting outside to be seated. Our waiter seemed utterly clueless with us and the family next to us.
The cheddar cheese soup was like a salt lick - we were unable to eat it. Since they no longer had the maple filet that I had the last time, I got the prime rib with roasted potatoes - the entire dish was inedible with the potatoes being raw and the meat was way too fatty (I know prime rib is fatty, but this was like a huge hunk of fat on my plate - I had way better prime rib at CM's). DH and SIL had the mushroom filet and cream cheese mashed potatoes and liked the potatoes but didn't have much to say about the steak. I can say that the pretzel bread was good! Maybe it was just "a bad night" for the place, but it was REALLY bad - we will not be back!

"Taste" is totally a personal opinion. One person may love their meal at LC and somelse who had the exact same meal may hate it. I don't think LC is out there touting themselves as the best steakhouse in town. I agree that it's a good meal for DDP. I would prefer LC over Brown Derby anytime.

The last two times, the wait was way past the ADR time, once it took 2 hours to eat. Had to send the steak back two times. With so many options at Epcot, I really think people are going back to LeCellier based on past experiences which I think are now in the past!

We will be going with our DS (7) and DD (3) in July. I have heard mixed reviews about Le Cellier. What are your thoughts on this being a good choice for my family? Would the kids enjoy it or should we opt out and find a more kid-friendly place?

What a huge disappointment. Wife and I planned a special night out and dined there last Wed. night (02-11-09). We had tried for years to get a reservation. We each ordered two different steaks medium rare. Her's had the coffee rub mine was regular strip. Both about $34.00. Neither of us finished our steaks. Both were tough and tasteless. The apps and soup were very good. The bread sticks and steak the waiter raved about were not. I think the cuts of beef were inferior at best and that would be a compiment.

We love Disney, DVC and Epcot but I have had better steaks thawed out of my freezer. Spent over a hundred dollars and wish I went to ESPN (hamburger/fries) or The Big River (great meatloaf)

We go to steak franchises like Outback and Longhorn. Their 12 dollar steaks are gourmet compared to Le Cellier.

Am I alone here? Was this just an isolated incident? Is the economy causing them to purchase lower quality beef?

I am not a shill for anyone so please don't respond in kind.

I also totally agree...give me outback. I think there is more hype to the rest then there is quality. The last time I was there and was the last time the quality was poor and the service was rushed.

never again!!!
