Canada Le Cellier, WHAT is the Big Deal?

To the OP, I don't get it either.

I don't get what the big deal is. :confused3

We have eaten there and wouldn't go back again. The food was average and the service was lacking that time. There are so many fantastic places to dine in the World....I think Le Cellier is totally overrated.

I agree - I like Le Cellier but think they are waaaayyy overrated - they are a good steak house but locally her in NewEngland we go to Bugaboo Grill and have had better steaks- LeCellier a 6 or 7 out of 10 but certainly not a 9 or 10!

I agree with what you say except I just can't consider Le Cellier a real steakhouse. How many steaks do they actually even have? Now Shula's, that's a true steakhouse. :)

I have to agree with it being one of the better 1 TS meals. But it deffinately isn't some place I'd be overally upset about not getting a ADR at. Wasn't thrilled last trip having to wait 20 mins past our ADR time.

This thread is making me feel a little better about not being able to get an ADR at Le Cellier!:)

ditto :)

There are a lot of places locally here in MI where you can get a great steak so we are doing a lot of character meals while there...and ohana which i am greatly looking forward to as I love bread and hear its great there! :)

Completely agree - we ate there for the first time this past Thursday night & had a good dinner. My Dsis ordered the filet plain & it arrived with the mushrooms, etc. The server corrected it with no problem. Steaks were properly prepared but really weren't worth the hype. The steaks we had at some of the other restaurants were comparable to Le Cellier. Glad we tried it but we'll definitely try a new restaurant next trip.

I am in the love it camp. I've had luch at Le Ceiller 2 years in a row, and it was fabulous both times. I had the mushroom fillet the last time, and it was so tender I could cut it with my fork. Add the pretzel bread and cheese soup, and I am a happy camper!:goodvibes

I have reservations for lunch there this year too, and I am looking forward to it.

Maybe you were just unlucky. I love Le Cellier for the food and the atmosphere. The steaks are nice but I also love the salmon, the cheese soup and the creme brulee.

The last time I went there, we wound up waiting around 2 hours past our ADR time though. The food was good when we finally got in but it put me off going back on our last trip. I'm wondering if there would be a better time to dine so that kind of thing doesn't happen -maybe 4pm or something?

Agree here OP. I just don't see the hype of it. It was fine, but everyone in our group thought we've had better at Outback, Logan's, and Texas Roadhouse. Heck, two of us had steak at Coral Reef and thought they were better than LC.

Another in agreement with OP. Actually, my strip steak was good, and prepared just as ordered. I really did enjoy all the food. I don't know what rubbed me the wrong way. Perhaps waiting for eons past our ADR time, then feeling it was so small/crowded, and our waitress was okay but a little annoying. Overall, not the best.

I got my ADR before I knew about the DIS, so I had no hype/frantic dash for ADR. Thank goodness! I would NOT have been impressed if I had gone out of my way and/or had my hopes up that much. It's fine, but nothing to write home about, IMHO.

I love the food at Le Cellier. The filet is perfect, the cheddar cheese soup to die for. Unfortunately, I don't love the "Ambiance" what ambiance? They herd you in like cattle, and then take your order. Then guess what? It all comes to the table at the same time. Am I suppose to take a slurp of soup as I chew a hunk of steak, No! I don't anticipate a 3 hour meal but I don't want all my food served at once, 4 of us on one little table with soup, appetizer, bread stick , steaks and salad. It's just too rushed !

I am in the not impressed camp. The one time we went my steak was really undercooked, the service was eh and we had a long wait after our ADR time. Three strikes. There are plenty of other 1 TS restaurants to get a steak on property.

We had the nicest server and excellent cuts of meat a couple of months ago when we ate there. I think it is one of the better park restaurants in WDW, and by far the best one in Epcot.

I have always enjoyed my meals at Le Cellier. But I have never thought they were the best of anything, other than pretzel bread. That is because i don't know where else they serve that. And I sure wouldn't go there just for pretzel bread.
I like the soup everyone raves about. But I really like Big River Grill Beer Cheese soup much better. (And I don't like alcohol to drink -- esp beer.) LC soup is pretty wimpy next to BR.
Good restaurant. But I have had great meals at other places I rather go anyway. :cool1:

You can get pretzel breadsticks in Biergarten. It's alongside their yummy potato leek soup.

We ate there in 2000, and while the food was delicious, we had horrible service. I didn't love the atmosphere there either. It's dark and cramped--like a real cellar.

Still, I'm going to make a lunch ADR at LeCellier for our upcoming trip because all the hype has me thinking we should give it another try.

OH yes, do go back and give it another try, we ate at Biergarten last trip and it was good but we just love Le Cellier. The mushroom filet is my personal favorite, we also share the soup, it's great for dipping the bread sticks!

Le Cellier was definately the best meal we had last trip and I really hope to get an ADR this time. I agree the ambiance is not existant, but it's the best steak I've ever had.:cheer2:

I've stayed away from this thread because there are so many LeCellier fanatics but I have to agree with the original OP. DH and were not impressed. It was good but it didn't live up to its mythical reputation.
