Can you find out your dining rotation prior to boarding the ship?

Just curious if there was some way of finding out this info. ahead of time. (I'm thinking about maybe 1 or 2 days before the trip) We had also requested to sit with another family and I was wondering if they could let us know that too. I just thought it would be helpful to know ahead of time so that we could figure out our Palo night, etc. Also, if you're not able to do this ahead of time, is this info. given to you when you board the ship, or do you have to go to a different location to find out about dining?

I was able to link my reservation with a friends so that we would dine at the same table. Don't know about the rotation though.

No, you can't find out your rotation in advance, but you will be able to tell what it is when you check in...it's printed on your Key to the World Card (in code). A=Animator's Palate, P=Parrot Cay and L=Lumiere's (or T=Triton's if you're on the Wonder).

Definitely get your DINING LINKED in advance, though, just have it noted on your reservation with DCL, if you want to eat with another family.

Enjoy your cruise! :)

We are on the land/sea package - will our dining rotation be on our KTTWC when we check in at the resort?

Also, would the cruise line "help desks" at the resorts be able to tell you?

Would the front desk be able to tell you when you check in at the resort?

Just trying to explore these options.

We are sailing on the Eastern Magic on 6/29 for our first cruise. I called the number on our Transfer Coupon (800-395-9374) on Friday afternoon (6/6) and (amongst other things) was told the following by a very friendly and helpful Don Hodges:

* Our dining rotation will be ALPALPA
* We (myself, DW and D6S) will be seated at a table for 8 with a party of 4 and a party of 1
* The Classic Wine Package costs $145 for which you get 7 bottles of wine (presumably 1 per night) from a choice of 10. There is also a Premium Wine Package for $265.

If this wining and dining information is correct - and Don's advice on other subjects was useful so I think he knew what he was talking about - then you can get your dining rotation in advance.

Based on this we will try to book Palo Brunch for the Sunday, Palo Dinner for the Monday and Palo Tea for the Thursday.

Any comments/advice on this - please? What times would anyone recommend for the Brunch and Dinner reservations (if we have any choices by the time we get to book....)?

Nigellong,
Thanks for the information. I'll be sure to call that number when we get closer to our cruise. Knowing things ahead of time certainly helps.

My only concern about the rotation that you were quoted would be the fact that it isn't even one of the three possible rotations? The three possible rotations are:

LAPLAPL
APLAPLA
PLAPLAP

Someone please confirm or correct me if things have recently changed.
Thanks
:)

Maybe the poster or DCL staff meant APL not ALP.. I mix them up all the time. As far as I know the three mentioned rotations are the only ones.

I just called DCL myself about our 7/13 cruise and the rep told me that when she pulled up our ressies that it didn't tell her what rotation we had....she spoke to her manager and said they would email dining and request the LAPLAPL rotation for me.
I told her that I heard (from these boards) that mostly adults only get that rotation and she said you are correct! She was very surprised that I knew that, and I told her of these boards and how very helpful they are!
I also asked about movies and she pulled up Harry Potter, Legally Blonde, Princess Diary's...then she said to me that those were old movies, put me on hold again and then came back and told me to call a week prior to our cruise and they would know the movies for sure.
She said that she thought Lilo and Stitch would be playing then!

We recently returned from the 6/1 Eastern and had the LAPLAPL rotation. In our dining group we had 6 adults, a 10, 9 ,8,7 and a 5 year old. This rotation worked out very well, we even had a table the window in Lumiere's and Parrot Cay! Great views!

Our Palo dinner reservation was on Sunday night even though this was a formal night. We had brunch on Monday at Palo's, so by Tuesday morning we almost couldn't eat another bite! We did the High Tea on Thursday. The reason we chose to skip regular rotation dining on Sunday is that after looking at the menus, that night seemed to be the least appealing to us so that worked out to a great night for Palo dining! We had Jerry and Erika as servers and they were excellent!

Have fun!

Just in case you were wondering about the wine and beverage packages available (and pricing), you can see them on the "Beverage and Wine Packages" document on our trip site at:

http://psiklops.brinkster.net

You can have the wines whenever you want - if you want them all in the same night, you can  If you want to upgrade one of the bottles for something that isn't on the list, they'll credit you a certain amount depending on which package you've chosen. Also if you don't finish them all, they'll credit the remaining number or you can choose to take them home with you.

'wovenwonder' you were (of course) right. Here is the rest of the story....

After reading the posts that followed mine, I called back to the number I used before to check my information. I was told that I wasn't supposed to know any of this (dining rotation, seating, etc) and that all communication should be with my travel agent. So I started to follow this up through American Express - and the main reason for my interest was that, as part of the Platinum Card benefits, we are allowed to make early reservations for Palo. Haven't seen that mentioned on the Boards - I think its a new benefit.

To cut short what became a long communication saga (partly because we never received the Palo dining letter), the final story (at least until we get on the Magic next Sat) is as follows:

Dining Rotation: PALPALP

Palo Dinner: Tues July 2nd
Palo Brunch: Sun June 30th (11 am)
Palo Tea: Thurs July 4th (3:30 pm)

Any thoughts on the choices we made? This all assumes that our DS6 enjoys his time in the club.....
