Can only afford studios at WDW

Interesting…..considering the point cost is CONSIDERABLY more than a 1BR.
Now we all know the secret DVC hack for booking the Cascade Cabins. Don't use your own points, but rather rent the points from someone else who will book it for you. It's a win-win. The rental person gets a few bucks thrown their way and you get the Cabins for less than the cost of a 1BR.

Wow! No idea then why but my price for 3 nights at the cabin was $175 cheaper than a 1BR at OKW and it was the cheapest 1BR
Enjoy your win! Glad you were able to get the 2BR cabin cheaper because you will love it.😁 🎉

Wait…when you say cabin, are you talking about the Fort instead of the Cabins at Copper Creek? Those would be way less points than a 1BR because it’s at the campground and has no W/D, has a queen instead of a king bed and bunk beds in the master BR, etc. Perhaps that’s the catch.

That's exactly what I was wondering- there are now two different cabins that are DVC, the Cascade Cabins at Wilderness Lodge and the newly refurbished cabins at Fort Wilderness Campground. The Fort Wilderness Cabins are indeed less than a typical 1 bedroom.

Yep, she correctly called them Cabins at Fort Wilderness, which are indeed lower in points than most one-bedrooms in the DVC system and in some cases even a little less than studios (Riviera, VGF).

OP, they’re declaring more inventory for the Cabins there not-too-rarely, so your waitlist might very well come through sooner rather than later!

Thanks, the 1BR would be better as the laundry after weeks of being in hotels would be easier right there in the room, but I love the boat access to MK and we love Wilderness Lodge, I wasn't sold on OKW and can't afford any of the other 1BR so think the FW Cabin will be a good middle ground between studios.

Have you stayed at the Fort before? It’s a great place, but not easy to get around unless you have a golf cart, and that can really add to the expense. Super fun, though! But you might want to price them out.

My twins, that turned 9 on a two week trip, were fine sharing the pull out coach at AKL. It's Disney and with deluxe late nights they were tired when we were at the lodge. Have fun

I love WL either side but have my preference.

OKW is by far not a bad resort we have greatly enjoyed our stays there. The good is the space. The transportation is fine and to us one of the resorts that is same ride to all so nothing feels far. OKW is right next to the PO resorts so you can easily gauge the transportation based on what those resort guests say. Ironically OKW is very close to EPCOT if you are willing to walk through some woods and cross a small stream you will find yourself in world showcase of course illegally but still there.... I do understand the apprehension however. If you like WL you like theming and there is just not much wow theming here. It is however a very relaxing resort with a decent pool, an exceptional TS, not so good CS but workable with very large rooms. For me I would easily pick this over the FW Cabins for the transportation alone... Giving up WL well I would have hard time for OKW but again never had a bad or regrettable stay at OKW.

I think the Fort Wilderness Cabins are a nice middle ground - they're smaller in space than a 1-bedroom, but you have the ability to sleep the kids in a separate room so you get more separation than a studio. I've stayed many times in the pre-refurbed cabins there with a family of 4, and always had a great time. It's true - it's nicer when staying there to have a golf cart - but that does significantly add to the overall expense...I always rent one when staying there. But the busses are still doable - just add 30 minutes to your thinking when trying to get somewhere to account for the campground bus. Wilderness Lodge is accessible from Fort Wilderness by boat, and if you don't mind a mile long hike on a lovely nature trail, by walking too. The boat docks are farther away from the cabins though so take longer to get to by bus than the main bus stop which is at the front of the campground and reasonably close to the cabins - that will get you out to the various other parks.

hmmmm, I am now rethinking my Cabin at fort wilderness. I really wanted to stay there too :(
I'll keep my request in but if I don't get it i'll have to keep searching for another option.

I've stayed at Boulder Ridge, Boardwalk, Jambo House and Wilderness Lodge before and really wanted somewhere different but can't afford the super expensive options as the Aussie dollar is so low it's very expensive.
It's cheaper to rent points than it is to even get a room at Pop or All Stars so I'd rather rent a studio at a DVC property for the evening extra hours.

The Boardwalk is amazing and definitely costs a bit less but if it’s not too much more, maybe a Poly Studio instead? 3 comfortable sleeping spaces and 2 showers might alleviate some of the stress?

I’m wondering is someone meant the new Wilderness Campground Cabins as being less points than an OKW 1Br - not the Wilderness Lodge Copper Creek Cascade Cabins which are a bazillion points..

Yes, the original poster has since clarified that they were talking about the Ft. Wilderness Campground Cabins.

Not trying to show off (because there are plenty richer people than me) but this year I will make about 3 million US dollars as income and we always stay in the standard hotel rooms, sharing beds for kids, for two weeks each year.

I suppose it depends how close your family is but I don't have much privacy at home either and I think a multi-bedroom villa is just a waste of money.

We enjoy spending the time together and are only in the room to sleep or shower really. I like sitting around the resorts to read etc.
