Hey all.
Quick post.
Welcome Mckymousefn, LK03 and julezdisney. Come by often and join us. We chat about everything and nothing at all.
Mac, sorry for your loss. Hope your trip is going OK for you.
Bunchkin, we are waiting here with baited breath. Whatcha got??? Just kidding . HOpe you are feeling a little better by now.
Slo, I know all about the busy days. Sometimes I wonder what end is up. And the kids just keep asking for more. Now the break light is on in the van, the truck and the car is in the gargae with a broken break line. Not a good week for vehicles here. :sad2:
Just checking to see what you all think. Right now, I can get airfare for our Aug. trip for $262 pp. Kids and I are going. Do you think I should take it, or wait. I have never worried about airfare prices like I am this year. Always willing to wait it out. Now I just don't know.
Well, off to watch Greys and fix lunches and check homework.
Later

HI all!!!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to stop by yesterday or even earlier today to tell you all about our doctor visits.
Yesterday I was so tired. I crashed for over 2 hours in bed. I had the worst throbbing headache!!! I though my head was going to burst...NO JOKE!!!:sad1: DH woke me at 1:30pm to get ready to go to the doctor.
Basically my doc told me she didn't think I had Fifth disease but was suffering from a reaction to that pizza I had the other week. Plus I have a sinus infection, that was part of the head pain I was dealing with. I'm taking a anitbiotic to try to help that and the lump in my head. That pain, from the lump, has finally started to go away!!!
But my blood pressure was up...who knows why....maybe from freaking out over all this crazy sickness in our house lately! :confused3
So I go back to the doc in 2 weeks to recheck the BP and the size of the lump.

DS's pediatrician says that indeed he had Fifth disease, but since he is at the rash stage he is not contagious. He showed no signs of being sick prior, which can be the case, so we had no clue he had it until he developed the "slapped cheek" looking rash.
Called his school nurse to let her know. A note telling parents that there was a case of Fifth disease reported went home about it through out the ENTIRE school system!!! DD told DS that he is famous! Granted the note didn't have his name on it, but it was started because of him! I can't imagine that no other child had this, but more then likely it was over looked by a parent. Because obviously he picked it up a school.

So I'm on the mend and so is DS.
Thanks for all the concern!

:welcome: to LK03 and Mckymousefn!!!

momto1 I'm in Joliet too! :wave2:

disneygal What about DiNolfo's in Lockport? I think they have one in Orland Park too. I have been to the new one in Lockport. It was very nice.
You're near Tinley right? I once knew someone who had their reception at that campground, Windy City campground is the name I think, near I-80 in Tinley!!! They have a large hall type facility that you can rent out! It was a very country-ish, kick your boots up, wedding reception! :) :)
Check with the golf courses too.
Oh yeah, down the street from me is the Barber and Oberwortmann Horticulture Center in Joliet right off of Gougar Road which is near the New Lenox exit of I-80. During the spring/summer the grounds have tons of beautiful flowers in bloom and lots of people have their receptions their and take their pictures their with the wedding party because the grounds are so wonderful.
Here is a link to their site.

piglet Hope you're feeling better too!!! :goodvibes

Gotta run, Lost comes on soon!! :worship:

Hi guys - I hope everyone is well. The weather has been so nice lately, not looking forward to the forecast though, I was really liking the 70s. :thumbsup2

LK03 - :welcome: I hope you love Chicago, you're sure moving to a hopping part of town especially now that it's baseball season. Best of luck on the job interviews too! I noticed in your sig that you were married on May 19 - so was I just in 1995, lol!

momto1 - the meet on Tues turned out beautiful, I should know better than to believe the weathermen around here ;) . DD had fun but didn't place in anything although she did make it to the finals of the 50yd dash. I too have a lot of yard clean up to do, I've made a little dent but still have a ways to go.

juliez - I love my new pedometer :lovestruc , my DH got it at REI. It records regular steps, aerobic steps and time, calories and distance. It automatically resets at midnight too. I've put on a good 10+lbs too so it was time to get off my behind and get in gear. I've lost 3lbs but still want to drop 10-12 more.

Mckymousefn - :welcome: . Glad to have you on board, come visit often!!

slo - yikes a coyote :scared: , I don't think I would have gone out! How is the step count going? Today wasn't good for me but M,Tu,W I had 12,000-14,000 so I took it easier today so I wouldn't burn out. Best of luck on the Communion this weekend, I'm sure Stephanie will look just like an angel  . Be sure to have tissues in your purse, there is nothing like seeing all of them process in all dressed up and looking like angels.

piglet - glad to hear you're feeling better!

disneygal - yikes $700 for books and supplies  ! I'm glad you found them cheaper on eBay. Wish I could help you on the hall front but I'm west suburban so I don't know anything south/southwest. We got married on a Friday because the price difference was HUGE, Saturdays are more convient but we just couldn't get over the price difference. I know Sundays are usually cheaper too.

Tiggerrn - sorry to hear you are having car woes. As for airfares, can you do SW out of Midway? Have you checked their fares? In Aug 05, June 06 and June 07 we got Ding fares, all 5 tix for $595. With the gas prices now I don't think they'll have the same low, low Dings. Also, AirTran out of Midway has had some $99 fares.

Bunchkin - so glad to hear back from you. I hope the anitbiotics will help clear up everything and that you feel good soon. Too funny about your celebrity son, lol.

Phew, I think I'm all caught up. If I missed anyone - sorry!

I think I might take DD11 and a friend to see Nim's Island tomorrow night. I'm so glad it is the end of the week, I love the weekends :rotfl: !

Have a great night everyone.

:surfweb:

Does anyone here watch ER?
Does anyone here think that it's time for that show to go away?
I started watching that show at the very beginning, and have NEVER missed an episode, and I have vowed to see it through until the end. I just can't get over how bad this show has gotten:sad2: it sorta makes Kevin and I laugh every Thursday. I got season 1 for Christmas, and when I watch it, it blows me away about how awesome that show used to be. All good things need to come to an end, and this show is one of those things ::yes::
(no offense to those that disagree)

LK - Good luck with those interviews next week!!! :wizard: That's awesome that you already have things lined up. You'll have to keep us posted on how they went
**You must be so proud of your DH!!! I hope he's able to stay home now.

piglet - Those Bernese Mountain dogs are the cutest dogs when they are puppies!!!! My mom has a friend who has one, and when that dog was a puppy, you could just cuddle it for hours!!! I'll never forget the size of the paws on this puppy - they were MASSIVE!!!

julez - I'll have to check out that website to see when we are getting our check:)

DG - Congrats on getting your books for less on ebay!!! :woohoo:
**Good luck finding a hall!!! :wizard:

momto1 - Was your son able to play his game last night?

MMfan - :wave2:

HERSEY - Isn't it a bummer when you plan something for dinner and then it doesn't work out. At least you got the night off for cooking :thumbsup2

Tigggggggggern - I'm sorry to hear of all the vehicle problems :guilty: When it rains it pours. I sure hope you are able to get things fixed soon, and hopefully nothing else will happen:wizard:

Bunchkin - So many hugs to you!!! I'm glad you got some answers yesterday from the doctors, and I hope that the antibiotic will help you :wizard: Keep us posted!!!!

ID - The step count is going great!!! The last 2 days have been a little over 11,000:woohoo: I'm sure it won't be much today, because I'm not working out - I have to leave home early to make a frame delivery. I'm a little bummed about not working out, because I can't work out tomorrow either:sad2: Oh well, I'll make up for it on Sunday (maybe:rolleyes: )
**I will take ALOT of tissue tomorrow - I know I will be emotional :sad1: I've been trying so hard to push this day away, and obviously, I can't. I feel like I just baptised her, and now she's going to be taking communion with me - it's weird!!!

Well, I guess I should start thinking about getting my behind in the shower
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Good Morning all!! :wave2:

Not to bring up another tv show.....but.........
Who watched Lost last night? Why so many commercials? At one point the show had just come back on from commercials and then right back to them!!??!!:confused3

slo I haven't watched ER since George Clooney was on!!!! :rotfl:
Sorry the show seems to be heading down hill. It has been on forever!
Sounds like you've gotten a lot of walking in!! :thumbsup2
Hope Stephanie has a wonderful day tomorrow!

IrishDancer My son is the last kid who'd want to be a celebrity!! He's only 5 and hates attention being given to him.
We need to go see Nim's Island too! I'm hoping to squeeze that in this weekend.

Mckymousefn Howdy neighbor! I have a neighbor right by me that used to live in Romeoville and she is also a teacher in the school district there.

Tiggerrn Sorry your cars are giving you trouble again. Didn't you mention car troubles to me the last time I saw you? You guys are unlucky in the car dept!!! :rolleyes1 ;) When it rains it pours!!

Hersey That is so nice all of you were taken out for lunch! ......but who took care of the phones??

LK03 I hope your move goes smoothly for you!
Where are you coming from?
Let us know how your interviews go!
We'll be at a Cubs game in July, I'll wave to you!! :yay:

Going clothes shopping this weekend. Both kids have out grown so much summer clothes since last year.
Darn those kids!!! ;)

Just a quick morning post...
I got woke up to ds telling me he had thrown up. I asked if it was in the toliet. He said yes, and a little was in his bed. Nope. Other way around. I about died. I threw his pjs and the towel I used for the initial clean up away. Luckily, he hasn't thrown up again. Also, dfiance was flying to Vegas and had his wallet stolen at the airport! Somebody took it out of his bag after it wen through security without him! All he has is his check book. He is meeting friends out there, so I am sure they will cash a check for him. Poor guy!
DGal- I had my first wedding at DiNolfo's! It was beautiful! The husband? Not so much...The PAtrick C. Haley Mansion in Joliet is very nice, too. They have a nice Victorian garden that they can tent.

Paint ~ OMG! :scared1: That is just so wrong that someone was able to steal his wallet. I know it is common, but the TSA screeners need to do a better job of watching stuff that they are being paid to inspect. Sorry to hear DS is sick too. That is my least favorite job ever.

Slo ~ Yeah, the puppies are darling but they do get big. I love them, and we will get one when we have a house (instead of our little townhouse) and a yard for him to play in. As for ER, yeah, I watch it but not too sure why. I read somewhere that the head writers dream was to end the series with Noah Wyle running the ER. I keep hoping that they will bring him back soon and put the show out of its misery.

I HATE allergy season. Out of the five of us, only Nathan is not bothered by it right now.

I am going to hallmark soon and seeing what deals they have for the Webkinz Day Extravaganza.

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather. I know I am. Took a walk during lunchtime yesterday. I am bringing my lunch everyday to start saving $$$. Yay for PBJ's! but it was nice to just walk around downtown by the river!

Paint ~ I've been to the DiNolfo's on 191st St. It is GORGEOUS. but unfortunately a little out of my price range:sad2: I requested more info on the Haley Mansion. When I went to their website, it looked beautiful.

Slo ~ in regards to ER... I stopped watching when they killed off Dr. Greene (Anthony Edwards). Actually it was probably before that but that was the last episode I saw. my sister LOVES the show. but I agree all good things must come to an end. I however do love Grey's Anatomy. Especially now that it is getting better again. last season was not so good!

Irish Dancer ~ We are planning on doing a Friday b/c it saves a lot of $$$. I'm a little concern though b/c we will be having a few of out of town guests :confused3 but then again, it will still be a year and half in advance to let them know!

Bunchkin ~ Glad you and DS are on the mend! :wizard: i will definitely look into the Horticulture Center, it sounds beautiful. Thanks!

Momto1 ~ i work in a 43 story building downtown... it was nice at first but now i get kind of bored with it. the summer usually nicer b/c i can go sit outside on my lunch near the river! I am looking into the Haley Mansion! it looks beautiful!

Everyone else ~ :wave2:

Thanks for all the help everyone! hope y'all have a good day!

Dgal- Yeah, don't know if I'd consider DiNolfo's "affordable"! My parents paid for it! Gee...don't know why they didn't offer to front this wedding.:confused3 ;) Haley is really nice inside, but what I did not like is that it is made up of several small rooms, obviously, since it was a home. I did not want my guests so spread out.

The movers took all of our belongings yesterday. We'll start our trek up Monday morning with several stops at family one the way up. Thursday will be crazy! We get the keys, take the pets inside, movers come deliver everything, hubby goes and gets all those city stickers for cars and I will go to an interview. That evening we will need to get groceries and maybe kitchen/bathroom things. What a crazy crazy day!

Momto1: Sounds like your move is going to go real smooth. Good luck at the job interviews! I think living in Wrigleville would be fun!

* Thank you. I really am hoping to land a job shortly and something that I'm genuinely interested in doing. Getting a job in Austin was difficult and not rewarding. I really hope it's fun!

Irish Dancer: I hope you love Chicago, you're sure moving to a hopping part of town especially now that it's baseball season. Best of luck on the job interviews too! I noticed in your sig that you were married on May 19 - so was I just in 1995, lol!

* I hope it doesn't "hop" too much, lol. It will be so nice to be in a "community" again and get that whole city vibe. Thank you, I need all the luck I can get!! Ha, so you've been married almost 13 years now! Wow!!

Slo: Good luck with those interviews next week!!! That's awesome that you already have things lined up. You'll have to keep us posted on how they went
**You must be so proud of your DH!!! I hope he's able to stay home now.

* Yeah, I can't even believe I have things lined up, that's the crazy part! Someone must like me :) :) I am very very very proud of him. He just signed out of the ARMY 20 minutes ago. He's over the moon about it.

Bunchkin: I hope your move goes smoothly for you!
Where are you coming from?
Let us know how your interviews go!
We'll be at a Cubs game in July, I'll wave to you!!

* I hope it continues to go smoothly.
We are coming from Austin, TX though originally Bloomington, IL. Stupid ARMY makes us move, hmph! I was very scared of TX, but it introduced me to amazing queso. I hope you all have places that make good queso, otherwise I just may cry, ahah.
Will do! Hopefully I have an ethusiastic post next Friday night saying someone loves me enough to offer me a job, ha!
You could even walk by our place, hahaha

Afternoon guys - I thought it was supposed to rain today :confused3 . Earlier I heard thunder but now the sun is out :sunny: .

slo - I used to watch ER when it first started. Got to be too much like a soap opera so I haven't watched in quite a long time. I think it is definitely past it's prime.

Bunchkin - good luck clothes shopping. DD11 needs some things too but I dread that outing, she's bodering kids/teen sizing and is getting very picky  .

paint - I totally feel for you, I was in the same boat last night. Was getting ready to head up to bed when I noticed a very distinct aroma coming from upstairs :sad2: . DH was putting the last of the dishes in the dishwasher and of course couldn't smell a thing :rolleyes1 . Went upstairs to find DS7 asleep on the floor outside the bathroom and his bed/floor was a huge mess :scared: . DH can't handle vomit so I got DS new pjs and had DH give him a shower while I stripped the bed and washed the floor. I kept him home from school today but he is not really showing any signs of being sick, I don't know what's up :confused3 .
*So sorry about dfiance's wallet :sad2: . DH had his stolen once when out of town for work, I had to overnight his passport so he had a photo ID to fly home. Was his DL in his wallet? Does he have a photo ID to get home?

piglet - DD11 is dying from allergies right now too. Claritin doesn't seem to be working either. She's also been getting bloody noses the past few nights, poor thing. Might try to get her into an allergist.
*What is Webkinz Day Extravaganza? Both my DDs are VERY into Webkinz.

disneygal - before marriage I worked downtown at the Mercantile Exchange, I loved spring/summer when you could go outside by the river at lunchtime :cutie: .
*We were somewhat concerned about a Friday wedding as DHs entire family is from out of state but we were very suprised how many out of towners we had.

LK03 - yes, we're coming up on our 13th Anniversary :lovestruc . I tell you though the time has just completely flown by. I still sometimes can't believe
it has been that long ;) .

Well, time for some lunch. I hope everyone enjoys this beautiful day ! :flower3:

ID ~ Has she tried Claritin D? Not sure if they make it for kids, but that is the only type that works for DH.
Webkinz Day Extravaganza is an event taking place at a lot of retailers. The Hallmark I went to in Frankfort is giving away a free Webkinz with a $10 Webkinz purchase. You also get to spin a Wheel of WOW for more goodies. Here is what we got.
Paid for
lil' leopard
panda
elephant
lil' mouse
(also, picked up a bookmark and gift bag to make the $10 per free one work)

Got for free
leopard
striped alley cat
cocker spaniel
black bear

paint Sorry your fiance's wallet got stollen! What a pain!!!! :headache:

irish dancer My DD is 10 1/2 yrs old, so I know what you're talking about!! ;) We are going to hit the outlet mall in Aurora tomorrow and then Fox Valley mall. She can be picky too. She loves to shop at Limited Too, I just don't love their prices!!

LK03 I hope you have good news to tell us about your interview too.
And I'm sure that with such a diverse city as Chicago is that you will not have any problem finding good food of any kind here!! :thumbsup2

piglet We're off to the Hallmark store soon too, just as soon as DD gets home....in about 10 minutes! :thumbsup2

DD went to Justice and we got 2 free Webkins.

She bought 1 with her own money and got a freebie.

Then we tried on clothes (and not much luck) but found her 2 skorts, so I went and bought those then I got a freebie.

I know the other stores are doing more but we are on a hunt for a swimsuit we can both agree on, so figured we would give Justice a shot. We actually found one and of course, it was too big for her....they only had a size 6, a bunch of 10's & bunch of 14's there....she needed a 12.

I've decided Justice must make their sizing on their clothes BIG (or other stores make them small?) -- normally she's around a 16 -- every 16 thing she tried on there basically was way too big on her and that's even WITH her brace on (usually it's a 14 without/16 with). We were both doing one of :scared1: when the clothes were that big on her for the sizes we picked.

Irish Dancer -- It POURED here earlier (right at the time the kids got out of school as we only had 1/2 day). I just saw a big flash of lightening, so looks like it will start raining again soon.

:surfweb:

Today is the BIG day!!!!! (Stephanie's First Communion)
I can't believe it's finally here:guilty: :) (2 smilies for that one)
Stephanie has to be at the church by 8:30am for professional photos. After I drop her off, I have to go back home and get Katie ready. Then Kevin, Katie, and I will get back to the church by 9:20am (thank goodness we live really close). After Mass we are going to a hall and having a party with approx 50 guests - it should be really nice:goodvibes So it's going to a very busy, and emotional day - I'm ready though, I already stuffed my purse with tissues :thumbsup2

Bunchkin - Good luck with the clothes shopping this weekend:wizard: We did a little of that last week, and I just can't get over how Stephanie and I have different tastes. I like these cutsey clothes, and she says:sad2: Luckily, we never battle about her clothes (she doesn't go for anything inappropriate, or distastful, just not anything I necessarily like), but it's hard to take a step back and not be totally controlling over exactly what she wears, when I want to be.
**How are you feeling? I hope you are doing better

paint - I'm sorry to hear about your son being sick  and that your Dfiance had his wallet stollen:guilty: . I'll send lots of PD your sons way to feel better soon:wizard: and I hope you Dfiance can still have a nice time in Vegas after what happened.

piglet - I haven't heard that about ER, but that would be great!!!!!:thumbsup2

DG - I bring my lunch everyday too, and it does save a lot of money:thumbsup2

LK - Do you know how to do multiple quotes? Your last post looked like a lot of work, when there is an easier way. If you don't know how, let us know, and we'll tell you how.:)

ID - I"m sorry your DS is sick also  I'll send lots of get well PD his way too:wizard:

Becky - Stephanie and I need to go swimsuit shopping too - I'm not looking forward to that:sad2:

Well, I have to go make myself beautiful for the day (just to get all misty eyed once I"m at the church:sad1: ) All these kids are going to look like little angels today:angel:

Have a good day today everyone!!

Slo Good luck today and congratulations to Stephanie

Ok where did our 70's go. I really liked the warm. I had to break down and put the heat on.:sad2: I hope the sun comes out today.

What's everyone doing today. I'm doing chores around the house and you guessed it more paperwork. Good thing I like to live indoors and eat otherwise I might be tempted to slack today. I really feel like being lazy.;)

Well I better get moving or I will get sleepy.

Morning all!! :sunny:

slo Congrats again to Stephanie! Hope you guys have a wonderful day!

Hersey We've had our heat on every night this past week, but turned down really low. Today I left it on instead of turning off early in the am when I get up. Hope those 70's come back soon!

Becky Clothes shopping can be tough. We always have similar luck, as in the size we are looking for is always gone.

DD has a Girl Scout field trip this morning to a local retirement community to work on their Bronze Award. Then we're off to go shopping.
And right now DH is going to get his hair cut. That man is going grey!!!!
The other day I noticed all kinds of white hairs in his beard area because he hadn't shaved in a couple days. :) The kids keep telling him he's starting to look like their grandpa!!!

SLO congrats on DStephanie's communion.. :cloud9: princess:
I used to belong to the Y but they kept raising the dues and it got to a point that the cost per year was equal to 1/2 the cost of buying an ellipical and putting it in the basement. so i dropped the memebrship and bought the ellicptical..you can come over anytime and use it..

Hi.. just a quick drive by.. have been very very busy at work... so no chance to DIS.. today Scott and geoff are at Spring Campereee.. and Eric is umpiring 2 baseball games.. I am doing laundry and cleaning and going to the grocery store.. then later on I am going to dinner with my friends at a place called the Parrot Cage in the old South Shore CC.
