Calling all Chicago DISers #2

Oh My GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!! Y'all don't have any idea of how glad I am to be typing on this board right here, right now. See, DH is away until tommorow and left yesterday. This is vital to the story, as he is a cable installation 'guy' and none of this frustration I went through would have happened if he'd been home. We had a crazy thunderstorm last night and it knocked out our internet and our phone, both of which is through cable, which was intact. So I sighed, DIS-less, and went to bed early w/DD, thinking it would be corrected by morning. Well, by noon, no such thing, still out. So I call Comcast & the nice customer service lady walks me through a bunch of nothing that I'd mostly already done to no avail. And this took about 45 minutes. Than I told her that I would just wait for DH to get home tommorow and that I would just have to wait. Than I cried.    :sad2: Seriously, I was moody and I lost it like a little kid. Well, I pulled myself together, THREW the modem across the room, went and played outside with DD for a little while (no, she didn't witness the crazy mom episode- she was upstairs playing with her 260,000 stuffed animals & mer-people) and when we came back in, plugged everything back in and TA DA!!! It worked

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Sheesh. I am very addicted to the internet. I know this. But I feel so cut off from the outside world without the internet. Isnt' that horrible? Any question I have, from phone numbers, to what's on TV, to the weather..... just ANYTHING... can be answered with my 15" Toshiba Satellite and I was really dying. But I'm better now. :thumbsup2

piglet too: I am finally feeling better.

Yay!

momto1: Pinch me - is it really finally spring?!
Does anybody else have spring yard clean up to do? I still have so many leaves in my flower beds to clean up.

I got a TON of bulbs that HAVE to be done today or tommorow! It's so windy today though! Like, crazy-trees-bending-windy

irish dancer: .....in Aug 05, June 06 and June 07 we got Ding fares, all 5 tix for $595. With the gas prices now I don't think they'll have the same low, low Dings. Also, AirTran out of Midway has had some $99 fares.

I think I might take DD11 and a friend to see Nim's Island tomorrow night. I'm so glad it is the end of the week, I love the weekends :rotfl: !

Wow.... those are great prices... I have only seen the lowest at $269 and I wish I could've booked right than (a few days ago!!) because I just ran the numbers on Orbitz right now and they were $100 more already! And DD and I saw Nim's Island last weekend and it was very very enjoyable. Great movie.

LK03: He just signed out of the ARMY 20 minutes ago. He's over the moon about it.

:cool1: :woohoo: :yay: party: :mickeyjum

slo:......I'm ready though, I already stuffed my purse with tissues

Awwww! Too sweet!

HERSEY:
Ok where did our 70's go. I really liked the warm. I had to break down and put the heat on.:sad2: I hope the sun comes out today.

Yea, no kidding! It's pretty out today, but I did have to turn on the heat this morning after that cold night!

Alright, off to do.... well.... whatever! I love days with nothing planned and nothing required of me! DD and I are chillin'. :goodvibes

The airline tickets I got to WDW (for October) were $279 each from United. When I looked at Southwest they were over $300 each, even with a 15% off Ding fare! :scared: That's when I decided that I should just go ahead and get the United tickets. I think when I went down there last year it was something like $220, so this isn't that much worse, considering. But I just felt like there was a good chance it wasn't going to go down any time soon.

I did go ahead and get an iPod Shuffle for my friend's DD8 (almost). It just seemed like the way to go. Hopefully she'll be able to keep up with it. But her mom said she's doing well with her Nintendo DS so far.

Wow! It's winter again! We walked home from my neighbors Tastefully Simple party and nearly froze.

Julia Glad you got your modem to work again. I learned that trick of unpluging the modem (but not the throwing part) a while ago.

Slo How did Stephanie do?

Leigh I think this year's airline tickets are higher all around. I bought mine in January and I'm glad I did.
I was orginally wanting a long weekend but 8 days was cheaper :confused3

Geffric Is that boy scout camp in springfield? My neighbors son is at the one in springfiedl this weekend. I hope the weather is nicer there.

LK03 Sorry I missed you earlier. I hope your move goes smoothly.

Bunchy That steam cleaner did clean the grill very well with no scrubbing. It did a really good job on the stove and windows too. I feel like an infomercial.

Ok everyone have a great day I really need to get moving.

Yesterday was a fabulous day!!!!!! :goodvibes
The church service was wonderful, and boy was it packed with people (standing room only, with people smouched (sp?) together:eek: ). I could just see how Kevin was thinking that was over Fire Code:laughing: All the kids looked beautiful:angel: and the priest did a fabulous job explaining to the kids exactly what they were about to do - it was just great!!!!! :)

After Mass we went to the hall, and that was great too. The catering company (people I know) did a beautiful job with everything. The food was great, the service was awesome, it made the day perfect!!!! :goodvibes It was also so nice to visit all the friends and family that came - loved it!!!! Stephanie was in her glory with being the center of attention:cloud9:

After the party a couple of friends came back to the house and chilled out with us for awhile - that was nice!!!! :goodvibes Then we got some pizza for dinner (I was starving because I barely ate at the party) and then everyone went home. What a great great great day!!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks to all that gave their congratulations to Stephanie - I'll be sure to show her:goodvibes

HERSEY - I put my heat on yesterday too at dinner time ::yes:: It was so nice having the furnace off for the last couple of days :)
**Mmmmmm....Tastefully Simple!!! Love it!!!!!

Bunchkin - How funny that the kids told Tony that he's looking like a Grandpa - I bet he loved that!!!! :rotfl: Kids say the funniest things sometimes!!!!
**How did the shopping go?
**How are you feeling?

geffric - Thanks for the invite!!!!:goodvibes If we were closer, I would take you up on that ::yes:: I've always wanted to try one out, because I want to convert the playroom into and exercise room someday (when Katie is older).

Julez - The couple of times my internet was down, I felt totally lost too ::yes:: I didn't like it!!!! :sad2: I'm glad everything got fixed for you so continue DISing!!!:thumbsup2

Leigh - When are you going to be at WDW in October? We'll be there the last week.:cool1:

LK - Good luck with the move this week!!!!! :wizard:

I'm off and running, to catch up on some work around the house
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Mornin' all!! :wave2:

Yesterday's shopping expedition was a success!
We had never been to the outlet mall in Aurora before. The parking lot was quite full when we got there at around 1pm. And when we left at around 4:30 it was totally crammed, cars parked along the sides of the roads! Crazy!!
We were able to get almost all of the kid's summer clothes there...and more.
We hit the Gap, Carters, Limited Too, and a few shoe stores and some other stores too. Oh, and the kids and DH got Cold Stone, I just had a couple bites of DS's ice cream as I was saving myself for dinner.
We finally made our first trip to Lou Malnati's!!! :yay: It was sooooo good! :worship: We went to the one in downtown Naperville! I love that area! :goodvibes There was absolutley no wait when we arrived, which suprised us. We had the Malnati salad (thanks for that tip Hersey!!..it was the best), the 3 cheese bread and then a cheese and sausage pan pizza. The kids don't like pan pizza so they ordered off of the kids menu. And the kids loved the game room they have.
Needless to say we will be going back! And we have lots of leftovers for today! :)

Then last night when we finally got home we had a fire in the firepit with the neighbors! It was windy and all of us were bundeled up like Eskimos but we all had a good time! :goodvibes

Hersey Did you try the new TS taco dip we talked about? And did she have the sangria's? At least the walk home was a short one!! :thumbsup2

slo Sounds like you and the family had a great day yesterday!
I'm feeling so much better, thanks for asking!!! :)

Julez Glad you didn't hurt the modem!!

Leigh That was nice of you to buy your friend's DD a Shuffle!! :thumbsup2

Well, I need to run! Today we have to go the regular mall for a couple things and then Sam's Club.

Have a great day everyone!! :flower3:

Bunchy yes and yes!. I bought the taco dip and pasted on the sangria though it was really good. She also had the mango margarita's.

Hersey I haven't tried the new drinks yet, so I was curious as to how they tasted.
Oh, and I might need a in-house demo of the steam cleaner. My grill will be waiting for you! ::yes:: ;)

Julia Glad you got your modem to work again. I learned that trick of unpluging the modem (but not the throwing part) a while ago.

I'm fairly certain the *throwing* part is what made it work. ;)

Hersey ........I might need a in-house demo of the steam cleaner.

Yea, me too! I don't believe you and only a cleaning of my oven will convince me. :rotfl:

Have a GREAT day everybody! It's so nice to see that everyone (including me) is not sick!

I don't care for the Sangria (at least not with wine, might try it with something else though) yet the Mango Margarita is awesome!

Hersey ~ Did you try the Pomegranate Chipotle? I love that, used in on grilled chicken last week and it was incredible. Also, I have sold a ton of the Crazy Cucumber as well as the Beyond Blueberry Fruit Dip.

My nephew will finally be graduating from the Marine's boot camp on May 16th. He had gotten sick and was unable to pass his physical fitness test. He was to have graduated this past Friday, so he is only 3 weeks behind.

Hi all! It has been a pretty busy weekend. Dfiance's wallet was found, so the sirport over nighted it to him. Luckily, he did not have any cash in it and he cancelled his cc before any chargess were made. I haven't talked to him much (don't want to be the nagging gf), but I think he is having a good time. i am ready for him to come home. This is the longedt we've ever been apart since we met. Commence gagging of "awwing" now!
Last night was my bachelorette party. It was pretty fun. We had some yummy martinis and I got lots of gifts I can't mention on the DIS! Thank goodness for camera phones because we sent pics to dfiance!:rotfl2:

Slo- Congrats to dd on her first communion. Man, I remember mine like it was yesterday. I got sandals with a tiny heel and i thought I was the coolest!
Piglet- My TS rep friend brought the Spicy Cuke dip last night! Delish!
Julez and Hersey- I fix lots of things by unpluggging and replugging or turning off, then on. Don't know what button you pressed on the remote?
Turn off the tv and start over. I am good with technology, as you can see.
Bunchkin- That mall is alrways crowded! Did you know there is a Wolfgang Puck Exp around there?
Sk8- I bought Air Tran to Orlando for this Aug. They were almost $600 total for two round trip. I just went ahead and bought them so I wouldn't have to worry about it later!

Paint ~ Great news that his wallet was found. Sure makes life a lot easier for him. (even if he does have to wait on new credit cards) He may still want to report it to the credit bureaus just to play it safe.

I had such a productive day yesterday!!!
We went to the mall, and searched it from top to bottom for a spring coat for me to wear with a dress (I wanted it long), and there wasn't one to be found in the entire mall - I was so mad!!!! :headache: I asked Kevin, "It is only April isn't it?" He agreed that it was unbelievable that there were no coats to be found - how ridiculous!!! I told him that I need to open a store that's called "Always in Season" and it's a store where the season we are in, is the only type of clothes I'll sell - I think it sounds like a good idea!!!:thumbsup2 (I'm really not opening that).
Then when we came home (this is the productive part) I went outside and picked leaves out of my rocks for 3 hours, and completed the task :woohoo: (I have a lot of rocks, and there were ALOT of leaves). I wish my tree shed it's leaves in the fall, so I didn't have to do it in the spring, but it doesn't shed it's leaves until Jan/Feb. I was glad to have a decent day to do it yesterday, because it's so much easier to do before all the Purple Plum bushes get it's leaves. I tried using the blower for the first time, and I wasn't very talented at it:sad2: I told Kevin to tell our neighbor the next time they have a fire call that if he has some leaves in his yard, it's because of me:laughing:
So, that was my day yesterday!!!! :)

Bunchkin - Sounds like you had a very nice day Saturday!!! :goodvibes I've never been to that mall, and it sounds like we should take a ride over there.
**I'm glad you are feeling better!!!

HERSEY - :wave2:

Julez - :wave2:

piglet - :wave2:

Crissup - Thanks for letting me know that people were looking for me:) I'll have to respond to that thread!!!

paint - I'm glad you had fun at your party!!!!
**That's great that your Dfiance got his walet back!!:)

Mac - Welcome home!!! :)
**Thanks for the listings!!!! :)

Well, I need get outside and go for my walk :cold:
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Morning! I had a productive evening, too! I finished a paper and some Spanish homework. Then, I hid many things left from the party.:rotfl2: Don't look on top of my 'fridge!
Slo- I know what you mean about the coat! I had the same problem. I have no spring coat! I have a winter parka, a wool pea coat, or a jean jacket. Grr! I looked everywhere! Kohls, Carson's, TJ Maxx, nothing! Good luck!
mac- Thanks for the list. Full House is a classic!

Good morning everyone! :surfweb:

Off to work I go~ :guilty:

Welcome back, MAC and thanks so much for the listings!! After work, I'll be taking the laptop down to fam. room to set the DVR! I still haven't watched last weeks run of shows from Travel Channel yet :sad2: No time!

Have a great day everyone! :cheer2:

good monday morning chicagoland homies.

thank you for the welcome backs. i appreciate that.

it was a long 5 full days. the funeral was tearful for many of us in the family.
now, it is back to the present and moving forward.

hope you all have a great day.

just think, at 5:00 today, there will only be 4 more work days this week!

Hey Everyone!

Hey Slo. Sorry coat shopping didn't go too well and if you ever open that store, you'll make a fortune. ;) Nothing like trying to find a winter coat in February only to see "cruise wear" and bathing suits lining the shelves? What gives?

Bunchkin... Wow, girl!! You have been having a hard butt time haven't you. I'm glad you are getting a little better. How did clothes shopping go? I have to get Megan out there too. She needs shorts otherwise, she'll be sporting the Daisy Duke look this year and that's not a good look for a nearly 8 y/o!

I'm leaving on a trip to Savannah this Wednesday and honestly, I'd rather not be going at this point. When will I ever learn about traveling with family?? The one remaining sister in law that is going has been swamped at work and will need to bring her laptop and work from Savannah?? And we're going why?? She said it would only be an hour or two, but you know how that goes. I spent a good bit of cash to get down there and stay for a few days, so I'll be out touring the squares and sights while she sits in a hotel room. I have decided I will just make the best of it and see the things I wan to see and do! Will someone please remind me next time I come up with a bright idea to travel with FAMILY that it is not a good idea and why! They are all lunatics that's why!

The first sister in law dropped out because she had a bad dream and now this one can't leave her job behind for two freaking days!! Ugggh!

And really what is with this weather?? I know spring is unpredictable, but holy cats BATMAN!!

Well, y'all have a good day. I'm practicing my y'alls and I'm craving SWEET TEA!!

Take care!

Sam

Sam ~ Sweet Tea sounds sooo good! Have a great trip!

Slo ~ I hate how retailers market their lines too. I am not ready for a bathing suit now, but good luck finding one this summer if I need one.

Hello everyone! Too bad about this weather, and did you hear the "s" word form the weather man?!

Good Morning Everyone!:flower3: I've lived in Chicagoland my entire life and still can not get used to this weather. 80 one day and freezing 2 days later... grrr! I want to go back to DisneyWorld where life is stress free and happy!

Slo ~ Congrats on DD's first communion! I remember mine like it was yesterday, it's amazing how time flies. I completely agree with the coat thing. I was looking for a nice trench/rain coat thing and couldn't find one anywhere. Glad you had a productive day yesterday!

Piglet ~ I don't care for Sangria with wine either. I sometimes get the Williams-Sonoma Sangria mix and mix it with Seltzer Water or 7-up or something along those lines. It's a nice summer alternative to iced tea and lemonade! Congrats to your nephew on his graduation!

Paint ~ Glad DF's wallet was returned!

Paint & Sk8 ~ We flew Airtran on our trip and it was great. Everyone was very nice. Mike decided to ask if they had any upgrades to Business Class. I figured he just wanted more room but he later told me he wanted to make every aspect of my trip special. I thought it was sweet of him. We got the upgrades for $60 a ticket.

Sam ~ Have a good trip. I hear Savannah is beautiful. Never been myself but would love to go! :)

Well better get back to work! Have a good day everyone!:flower3:
