Bottle Water on the Ship

Do you have to buy for the water?? I was reading a trip report and visited a website and was surprised that it mention purchasing water..

Yes. I read that in ALL instances you must pay for bottled water- even at the meals where soda is free!

Not to fear! The "tap" water onboard is actually quite excellent! In fact, I think it tastes much better than the bottled water they sell onboard (Evian).

All bottled water is is water that has been filtered, sometimes a flavor/mineral pack is added when they use local water for a national brand to make it taste the same everywhere. DCL has an extremely sophisticated water treatment system which creates "tap" water that is every bit as good as bottled water (sometimes better, zephyrhills brand, which they used to sell at WDW, was pretty awful bottled water!). I'm kind of a water snob but bottled is not ALWAYS better. Give the "tap" a try before you shell out for the same thing at a higher cost in a plastic bottle.

Did they change from Dasani to Evian? When we cruised it was Dasani.

It was Evian in August 2003 on the Magic. And, in my opinion, that stuff is nasty!

We always travel with 3 or 4 24 oz. 'sport' water bottles for the plane - and once we get where we are going, use them to 1) Fill with tap water if it is good, 2) Fill from large 2 Gallon jugs of purchased water if local water is nasty! and 3) To carry my 'adult' beverages that I have mixed in my room to the pool or beach! Can always get cups with ice.....and we travel with a soft, 6 can size cooler to bring our stuff in.

if you really like bottled water you could always bring some in your luggage and put it in the in room cooler. the stateroom host/hostest brings ice to the room twice a day. its up to you. the water from the ship was good. not bad for once being salt water.
